The Detroit Lions (5-2) and Minnesota Vikings (3-4) will square off in Week 9, and with both teams coming off an extended break—the Lions were on a bye and the Vikings last played on Thursday of Week 8—the practice schedules have been slightly altered this week.
For the Lions, they held practices on Monday and Tuesday, gave players Wednesday off, and will follow that up with two more practices on Thursday and Friday to wrap up the week. Because the first injury report of this week is due out on Wednesday—and the players were not in Allen Park—**this practice report...

The ink is barely dry on the new contract for Aidan Hutchinson that will reportedly keep in him under contract with the Detroit Lions until 2030, yet the team is still receiving a massive amount of praise for the move. Twitter was abuzz with the news, with many local and national analysts congratulating the Lions on being able to fill their team with foundational pieces and coming to agreements with the players to keep them all around long-term.
Here’s just a smattering of reactions to the news that the Lions and Hutchinson have agreed to a four-year, $180 million extension....

Aidan Hutchinson will be a Detroit Lion for the foreseeable future.
Per several reports, the Lions and Hutchinson have agreed upon a four-year extension. As of this publication, details have not emerged on the compensation.
UPDATE: Per Adam Schefter, the contract is worth $180 million over four years, an average of $45 million a year. $141 million of that is guaranteed. Those numbers are actually lower than the extension Micah Parsons got with the Packers (four-years, $186 million)—although Parsons only got $136 million guaranteed.
Albert Breer reports that Hutchinson is signed through 2030, indicating this four-year extension has been tackled...

Hutchinson, drafted second overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, has been one of the top players on the team since entering the league. In his rookie season, he tallied 52 tackles, 9.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and three interceptions—leading him to finish second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting (behind Sauce Gardner). The next year, he took his game to a new level, earning...

A Detroit Lions team well-known for their tricks spent some time enjoying treats during the bye before getting back to the grind.
Over the years, we’ve seen a few pictures pop up on social media from the squad’s seemingly annual Halloween party. This year, star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown did us a favor and posted a couple dozen pictures of his teammates in costume to his Instagram story. Enjoy!
Jahmyr Gibbs:
Aidan Hutchinson:
Taylor Decker:
Penei Sewell:
Isaac TeSlaa:
Jameson Williams:
Malcolm Rodriguez:
Brock Wright:
Jared Goff:
Bonus:
And of course, St. Brown himself.

Watching Monday night’s tilt between the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers was a little too much for Brian Branch. Serving a one-game suspension for his part in a post-game fight with Chiefs receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, Branch opted not to watch the game at all. It was just too much.
“Watching them would make me miss being out there. That’s something that’s hard,” Branch told media on Tuesday. “I would be eager to get out there.”
Branch apologized again on Tuesday for his actions after the Chiefs game, and said he’s been able to lean on some emotional support to...

Coming off a much-needed bye week, your Detroit Lions are back in action. They’re 5-2 and second in the NFC North, a half a game behind the leading Green Bay Packers. For the first time this year, they take on the Minnesota Vikings, who are in last place in the division at 3-4. The Vikings appear to be getting their starting quarterback back this week, though I’m not sure that can fix all of their woes.
Minnesota is coming off its impressive 14-3 2024 season, just one game short of winning the division after the Lions defeated them in the...
