Wilson’s former head coach will have Week 2 circled
It’s no secret that Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos’ relationship ended on bad terms.
The Super Bowl-winning quarterback and head coach came to odds during the season, so much so that Wilson was benched, with rumors of behind the scenes contract talks becoming ugly in terms of Wilson refusing to negate the money owed to him.
Wilson was released by the Broncos, who will eat over $80 million in dead cap over the next two seasons. Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers will visit Denver in Week 2 of the 2024...

Earlier this week, we asked readers where they thought the New Orleans Saints will finish in the division this year.
53% of the voters think the Saints will re-claim the title of division champions and come in 1st place in the NFC South. Now that the schedule is out, we know that the Saints will get to open the season at home, star in 3 primetime games and have a late November bye week.
Given that the Saints have one of the easiest schedules this year, fans seem fairly confident in the team’s ability to come...
The post Ex-Steeler Says Getting Draft By Steelers Was a Bad Experience appeared first on Steelers Now.
It’s a good story when local players get drafted or sign with their hometown NFL teams, but there’s a lot of pressure and distractions that come along with it, too. In regards to the Steelers, it worked out well for Charlie Batch, Cam Heyward and things have gone smooth with Joey Porter Jr., but former Steelers center/guard A.Q. Shipley said in a recent interview that getting drafted by his hometown team was the worst thing that could’ve happened to him.
“It was a...
There are a lot of reasons to be wary of Mike Tomlin’s 17-consecutive seasons without a losing record, but it is impossible to write it off as completely unimportant. He had the benefit of working with a future Hall of Fame quarterback for most of his tenure in Ben Roethlisberger, but there have still been […]

The Steelers running back is cutting weight
The Pittsburgh Steelers have leaned heavily on Najee Harris over the last three seasons. The former first-round pick has carried the ball 834 times in that span for 3,269 yards and 22 touchdowns. And heading into a contract year, Harris is cutting weight in order to be lighter on his feet.
Harris’ trainer, Josh Scott, spoke with Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette where he said No. 22 is currently hovering at 235 pounds, which is about seven pounds lighter than he was in 2023.
“He’s motivated to say the least,” Scott said....
Today’s rookie draft pick signings as we head into the weekend:
Atlanta Falcons
Houston Texans
Bullock joins a talented group in Houston and will have a chance to learn behind a veteran in Jimmie Ward before eventually having a chance to earn the starting job.
Trice becomes the third pass rusher selected in the first three rounds by the Falcons in as many years. With Arnold Ebiketie and Zach Harrison showing limited production in short samples, Atlanta will hope for a more immediate impact from Trice.
Everyone from Byron Murphy II to Michael Jerrell has inked their respective rookie deals.
The Seattle Seahawks have taken care of their 2024 draft picks.
Sixth-round offensive lineman Michael Jerrell, Seattle’s last draft choice, also doubles as the last one to sign his contract. Seattle previously announced on Friday that third-round guard Christian Haynes had agreed to terms.
Once Jerrell and Haynes have their contract information made available on OverTheCap (which I anticipate happening early next week), we’ll do a rundown on each contract and how they impact Seattle’s salary cap.
Under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, signing draftees is...
Kansas City has an open 90-man roster spot heading into OTAs.
According to the NFL’s official transactions report, the Kansas City Chiefs released running back La’Mical Perine on Friday.
A 2020 fourth-round draft selection of the New York Jets, Perine signed with Kansas City’s practice squad during the 2022 postseason. With the Chiefs managing multiple running back injuries during the 2023 season, he was signed to the active roster on November 25.
Perine dressed for three games with the Chiefs last season, rushing for 77 yards and adding 33 receiving yards. 79 of his 110 scrimmage yards came during Week...

All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones had a message for his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Harrison Butker following the backlash prompted by the latter’s comments.
Butker is under fire for the speech he gave during a recent commencement ceremony at Benedictine College. In it, he referred to Pride Month as sinful while stressing the importance of men and women sticking to their roles in the family.
The kicker used his wife as an example, noting that she has found the most fulfillment from her “homemaker” title, which has allowed him to thrive as a breadwinner, husband, and father.
