The Jets are picking up the fifth year option on all three of their first round Draft picks from 2022, Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, and Garett Wilson, and Jermaine Johnson.

First round Draft picks in the NFL receive a four year contract that comes with a team option for the fifth year. The Cowboys still have a pressing need at wide receiver behind CeeDee Lamb. Owner Jerry Jones said they are continuing to examine ways they can improve the team.

“We’ll continue to always look to improve our football team,” Jones said, via Todd Archer of ESPN.

The fifth round pick from Florida State never suited up for the Jets.

Jets quarterback Jordan Travis announced in a social media post that he is retiring from football due to an injury he suffered in his final college game.

The Jets drafted Travis in the fifth round in 2024 hoping he would be able to rehab his injury and eventually develop into a quality NFL signal caller. He spent his entire rookie year on the Non-Football Injury list, which meant he was not healthy enough to practice.

It’s sad to see a player like Travis lose his NFL dream....

• Waived TE Baylor Cupp G McKade Mettauer and DB Jason Taylor.

• Chiefs received an international exemption for OT Chukwuebuka Godrick.

Firkser, 29, originally signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Harvard back in 2017. He lasted just a few months in New York before he was waived and later signed to the Chiefs’ practice squad.

Lost in the mix of all the draft news, Nike and the NFL have announced a new venture. According to a Nike press release, they and the NFL have partnered on an “NFL Rivalries” program that will see each team receive a “community-inspired” uniform over the next four seasons.
