Update On Bengals Contract Talks With DE Trey Hendrickson

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported Monday that he gets the sense that the Bengals and DE Trey Hendrickson have closed the gap on average annual salary in contract negotiations, with Breer saying the team is well above $30 million per year and closer to the top of the market than people think.

That said, Breer says guaranteed money remains a major stumbling block. Top pass rushers have been getting two and sometimes three years of guarantees, while the Bengals have an organizational policy of not guaranteeing any money past the first year, outside of rare exceptions.

John Schneider shares why Seahawks cut TE Noah Fant

It’s been just over two weeks since the Seattle Seahawks released Noah Fant, the starter at tight end for the team in each of the past three seasons since his acquisition from the Denver Broncos in the Russell Wilson trade.

There had certainly been questions regarding why the team opted to move on from Fant on the eve of training camp, though when queried on the matter head coach Mike Macdonald had opted not to get into the specifics.

With Macdonald not providing insight on the subject, those covering the team were left continuing their search for answers, and on...

Geno Stone looking to prove Bengals were right to not look for new safety

Geno Stone looking to prove Bengals were right to not look for new safety

Last year wasn’t great, but it started on an upward trend. Is that enough?

It seemed like the Cincinnati Bengals made the right move when they brought in Geno Stone as a free agent safety. Not only was he coming off a seven-interception season, but Lou Anarumo and Zac Taylor stole him away from the Baltimore Ravens.

Now Anarumo is gone and there are new faces all over the defense.

Everywhere except for the secondary, that is.

So Stone is back, much to the chagrin of some fans.

Jared Wilson hoping to prove himself worthy of starting spot along Patriots O-line

The third-round rookie quickly earned a starting spot along the offensive line this training camp.

It took just one week of practice for Jared Wilson to insert himself into the New England Patriots’ starting offensive line line.

Despite spending the entire spring limited, the 21-year-old rookie made a strong impression rather quickly to earn the opportunities.

“Nothing’s set in stone with the roster or the lineup — but certainly want to give Jared the opportunity that he’s deserved, which I think is to be out there with the ones in the last couple days and going forward into next week,”...

Packers re-sign cornerback

Corey Ballentine, who made seven starts in Green Bay, has been added back to the Packers’ 91-man roster.

The Green Bay Packers announced on Monday that they have re-signed cornerback Corey Ballentine, who was released by the Indianapolis Colts last week. Ballentine signed with Indianapolis in free agency, where he received nearly half a million dollars in guarantees on his one-year deal with the team.

Prior to his stint with the Colts, Ballentine played 37 games over three seasons with the Packers, including seven starts made on the defensive side of the ball. In total, he played 581 defensive snaps...

Steelers’ biggest reason to panic after start of 2025 NFL training camp

While the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense got a glowing review from a receiver, star defender T.J. Watt weighed in on the offense. But there are plenty of question marks on the latter side of the ball. And that’s why the Steelers’ biggest reason to panic after the start of 2025 NFL training camp is the offense.

Sure, the Steelers got their quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. They reeled in a big-time receiver in D.K. Metcalf. But what do the Steelers have beyond those guys that brings a lot of excitement?

The Steelers have their work cut out for them as the 2025...

5 free-agent cornerbacks the Titans could consider signing

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly interested in adding a cornerback

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly interested in adding a veteran cornerback in free agency, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Fowler wrote a terrific article that had a bunch of interesting nuggets in it. In addition to corner, the Titans are looking at potential backup quarterbacks and pass rushers.

Adding a veteran cornerback would be understandable. L’Jarius Sneed remains on the PUP and there should be legitimate concern over his effectiveness given how little football he’s played since joining the Titans. Jarvis Brownlee Jr. is currently CB1 in Nashville and Darrell...

Steelers Already Scouting Top QB Prospect for 2026 NFL Draft

The Pittsburgh Steelers have begun the legwork of studying quarterbacks to potentially select during next year’s 2026 NFL Draft. Mike Tomlin’s team sent a scout to watch Arizona State passer Sam Leavitt practice on Monday.

Arizona State football reporter Brad Denny posted a photo Monday on X of a sign indicating which NFL teams had scouts watching the Sun Devils’ practice, including the Pittsburgh Steelers. Surely there’s an eye on Leavitt, who was tabbed as a second-teamer on the Walter Camp Preseason All-American list after a stellar freshman campaign in Tempe.

Leavitt passed for 2,885 yards — the second-most by...

Lions Make Three Roster Moves, Place Seventh-Round S Dan Jackson On IR

The Detroit Lions announced they have signed CB D.J. Miller to a contract.

In correspondence, the Lions placed seventh-round S Dan Jackson on injured reserve and waived RB Kye Robichaux with an injury designation.

Jackson, 24, was a no-star recruit in the 2019 class out of Gainesville, Georgia. He joined Georgia as a preferred walk-on and remained with the Bulldogs for five seasons, earning Third Team All-SEC in 2024.

In his collegiate career, Jackson appeared in 47 games for Georgia and recorded 140 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, nine passes defended and four interceptions.

Linebacker Darius Muasau feels like “the puzzle is complete” on defense

Darius Muasau is looking to raise the bar in Year 2

Few expected much when the New York Giants selected linebacker Darius Muasau out of UCLA with the 183rd pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.

After all, he’s undersized and not terribly athletic. As a late round pick, the realistic expectations were for a core special teams player. And Muasau did indeed become a significant contributor on special teams, with 248 snaps played over the course of the season. But what was unexpected was him starting his rookie year by picking off Sam Darnold in Week 1, then stepping in...
