A Vikings win is always great! However, the injury to JJ McCarthy really stinks. The team really needs to be able to evaluate his play on the field which has seen ups and downs. The ups have been really nice while the downs can mostly be chalked up to him having very little snaps. The difficult part comes with his frequent injuries. You’d like to believe it is just unlucky but at this point, it is a legitimate concern. Going forward, I know that I will be very worried on every snap. I will not say that he is “injury...

The Minnesota Vikings won their 3rd game in a row, defeating the NY Giants, 16-13. It wasn’t the most exciting game for fans to watch, with only 3.6 yards per play. The Vikings did see some of the veteran stars come alive with Justin Jefferson and Aaron Jones having a nice game. The defense was dominant against a subpar New York offense. Will Reichard was perfect, as usual.
Aaron Jones
Jones picked up an ankle injury early in the game. However, Jordan Mason was injured shortly after and missed the remainder of the game. Jones toughed out 21 carries for...

It’s often said that nobody cares about the Pro Bowl, outside of players who have incentives for such things written into their contracts. Based on the announcement that was made just an hour or so ago, fans of the Minnesota Vikings now have even less reason. . .if that’s possible. . .to care about this year’s installment of the Pro Bowl Games.
The Vikings were one of just three teams to have zero players named to the roster for this year’s Pro Bowl Games when the league announced the rosters earlier on Tuesday morning. The other two teams were the...

Hello, everyone! It’s time, once again, for us to take a check of the pulse of Minnesota Vikings fans by posting another one of our SB Nation Reacts surveys for this week.
With the short turnaround for Week 17, we’ve just got the one question for you as part of this week’s survey, and that’s our standard question about whether or...

What is wrong with J.J. McCarthy’s hand? Is it a bruise? Is it a nerve? Is there ligament damage? When a player tears their ACL, there is usually an MRI confirming it the very next day. I know the NFL is all about winning and sometimes it’s a strategy teams employ, not saying whether or not a player will start or the extent of their injury until they have to submit their final injury report. The most reasonable explanation as to why we don’t have more information about McCarthy’s injury could be chalked up to gamesmanship or that he is...

Last season, the regular-season finale between the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions had just about as much riding on it as a regular season game could potentially have. This season is just about as far removed from that as we could possibly be.
The Vikings and Lions will meet as the second game of the National Football League’s Christmas Day tripleheader, with the Vikings already eliminated from playoff contention and the Lions barely clinging to life in the NFC playoff race. Last season, these two teams combined for 29 regular season victories and met in Week 18 with the...

It’s time for the first injury reports of the week, folks! Yes, because the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions are facing off on Thursday, the first injury reports of the week are up as of today, and we’ve got them here for you.
It’s worth noting that these are probably best described as pseudo-injury reports. The Vikings didn’t actually practice today, so they’re really more of a wag than anything else, while the Lions just went through a walkthrough rather than an actual practice. Still, this is what we’ve got, so let’s get to them.

The Minnesota Vikings have won three consecutive games, including two in a row on the road, but the odds are currently against them making it four in a row when they take the field on Christmas Day.
The folks at the FanDuel Sportsbook have opened the betting lines for this week’s games, and the Vikings are currently a 5.5-point underdog for their matchup against the Detroit Lions at U.S. Bank Stadium. The over/under for this one currently sits at 43.5 points.
This one is currently clouded for the Vikings by the fact that. . .well, we’re still not really sure...

It appears that the Minnesota Vikings may have avoided the worst-case scenario with their young quarterback, but his status for their next game is still cloudy at best as things stand right now.
During his post-game press conference following the Vikings’ 16-13 victory over the New York Giants, head coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters that x-rays on J.J. McCarthy’s throwing hand came back negative, but at the present time that’s the only information anybody has.
“Apparently it happened before his touchdown run. I asked him if he was alright and he said he was. Then, when he went out...

While the Minnesota Vikings’ defense hasn’t been recording quite the numbers as far as turnovers that we’ve become accustomed to in recent years, Sunday afternoon’s victory over the New York Giants saw them tie a mark that this franchise hasn’t seen since the days of the Purple People Eaters.
By keeping the Giants’ offense out of the end zone entirely in their 16-13 victory. . .New York’s lone touchdown came on a scoop-and-score fumble recovery. . .it marked the sixth consecutive game that the Vikings’ defense has gone without allowing a passing touchdown.
The last time an opposing offense scored...

A game between a 6-8 team and a 2-12 team in late December is generally expected to be a pretty ugly affair, and Sunday’s contest between the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants at MetLife Stadium certainly met those expectations.
Only one offensive touchdown was scored on Sunday afternoon, and the Vikings lost a couple of key components heading into the final weeks of the regular season during an ugly 16-13 victory over the Giants in Week 16 NFL action.
The Vikings got on the scoreboard first, getting a 43-yard field goal from Will Reichard on their first possession to...
