Minnesota Vikings News and Links: The Wagon Is Off The Trail

The competitve part of the season is pretty much over and was over before the Seahawks game. Nothing that happened in that game is that big of a deal to me including the 4th down play that resulted in the pick six. The team would only have a 11% chance of making the playoffs if they had somehow won the game.

The season has been a disaster. Injury to offensive linemen and a couple of key defenders (for a little bit) really have hurt. But the play of the Quarterbacks has been the main reason why the offense is abysmal....

Vikes Views: Will Adam Thielen Sign with a Contender?

Vikes Views: Will Adam Thielen Sign with a Contender?

Last week Adam Thielen requested his release from the Vikings. Monday, the team granted that request. Thielen believes he has a market to sign with a team contending for the playoffs. It’s his final season and this clearly wasn’t working out in Minnesota. His final tally for the year with the Vikings is 18 targets, 8 catches, 3 drops, for 69 yards in 11 games played. To give him some credit, six of his eight catches were for first downs.

Thielen’s previous spot, the Carolina Panthers, are half a game back of the NFC South lead and are heading into...

Vikes Views: Nincompoop of the Week – Vikings at Seahawks

The Minnesota Vikings went into Seattle to face the Seahawks, and it couldn’t have gone much worse. I won’t say it can’t get worse—because we all know it always can—but that was ugly. It was the first time the Vikings had been shut out since November 11, 2007. Max Brosmer got his chance to start, and he wasn’t ready. Poor blocking and dropped passes didn’t help him either. A 26-0 loss is a hard pill to swallow and highlights just how bad this team is right now.

Vikings Waive WR Adam Thielen

Vikings Waive WR Adam Thielen

Ahead of Sunday’s 26-0 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Minnesota Vikings made wide receiver Adam Thielen a healthy scratch. On Monday, they made a move that, just a few months ago, would have been unthinkable.

The Vikings have just announced that they have waived Adam Thielen, putting a period at the end of what might be one of the more disappointing trades, from a production standpoint, in recent team history. The team also released the following statement in conjunction with the release.

The statement reads as follows:

Last week Adam’s representation approached the team and asked if we...

Everything Ends Badly, Otherwise It Wouldn’t End

Everything Ends Badly, Otherwise It Wouldn’t End

It wasn’t supposed to be like this. Sure, the Minnesota Vikings weren’t going to go 14-3 again after the run they had in 2024, but surely they were going to be a solid contender again in 2025, weren’t they?

That’s what yours truly, and a lot of other people, thought going into this season. The team was ready to move in a new direction at quarterback, finally deciding to take a swing at developing a quarterback for the long term after years of going with short-term solutions at the position. To take advantage of the bargain-level contract at the game’s...

Vikings Shut Out for First Time In Eighteen Years in Loss to Seahawks

Vikings Shut Out for First Time In Eighteen Years in Loss to Seahawks

With the news that quarterback J.J. McCarthy would not be starting this week for the Minnesota Vikings due to not clearing concussion protocol and that rookie Max Brosmer would be starting in his spot, many fans felt that things could not possibly get worse for the Minnesota offense.

The team, apparently, took that as a challenge and rose to meet it in ways previously thought impossible.

For the first time in eighteen years, the Vikings failed to register a single point, getting thoroughly beaten by the Seattle Seahawks by a final score of 26-0 at Lumen Field in Seattle in...

Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks: Third Quarter Recap and Fourth Quarter Discussion

We are heading to the final fifteen minutes of play at Lumen Field in Seattle, and your Minnesota Vikings trail the Seattle Seahawks by a score of 19-0, which could just as well be 119-0 with the way the purple are playing this afternoon.

Seattle got the ball coming out of the locker room at halftime, and they added more points to their lead as Jason Myers connected on his third field goal of the day. This one was a 54-yarder to extend the Seattle lead to 16-0.

On the ensuing drive, Max Brosmer made his best throw of the...

Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks: Second Quarter Recap and Third Quarter Discussion

They’re heading into the locker rooms at halftime at Lumen Field, and your Minnesota Vikings trail the Seattle Seahawks by a score of 13-0.

The Seahawks were right around midfield to start the quarter, and Dallas Turner collected another sack of Sam Darnold, the defense’s second of the day. Then, the Seahawks picked up 21 yards on third down and kept their drive alive thanks to more poor tackling from the Minnesota defense. The defense stiffened in the red zone, as Andrew Van Ginkel sacked Darnold to force the field goal attempt, and Jason Myers connected from 33 yards out...

Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks: First Quarter Recap and Second Quarter Discussion

We have made it through the first quarter of play at Lumen Field, and your Minnesota Vikings are tied with the Seattle Seahawks, 0-0.

The Seahawks won the coin toss and deferred to the second half, giving Max Brosmer and the Vikings’ offense the football first. It looked like a three-and-out on the first drive, but the Seahawks were called for a defensive hold on a third-down stop to give the Vikings a fresh set of downs. The next third down yielded a similar result, with Brosmer getting sacked by Leonard Williams to end the Minnesota drive and Ryan Wright...
