I’m not sure if we should be surprised by this or not

During Rick Spielman’s tenure with the Minnesota Vikings, he was responsible for the hiring of three head coaches: Brad Childress, Leslie Frazier (who started as an interim coach after Childress was fired), and Mike Zimmer. Zimmer had the longest and, arguably, the most successful tenure of those three coaches, but things apparently wore down between Zimmer and Spielman at the end of the trail.

Former Vikings’ quarterback Kyle Sloter was a guest on Matt Falk’s podcast the other day and made a pretty significant claim about the relationship...

Since we’re rapidly reaching the point of the offseason where there isn’t going to be a whole lot to talk about, let’s start with some cosmetic moves that the Minnesota Vikings made on Wednesday.

The team has announced the numbers for every player on the roster that hadn’t already been assigned one, most notably the team’s draft picks, undrafted free agents, and free agents they signed this offseason. They also announced some new numbers for veteran players as well.

Not as early as we had thought

It appears that we’re going to have to wait just a bit longer for the 2024 NFL schedule than we had originally thought.

The National Football League has just announced that the release of this season’s schedule will be happening on 15 May, which is one week from tomorrow, at 7:00 PM Central time. It appears, according to Ben Fischer of the Sports Business Journal, that the teams were, in fact, expecting the schedule to be released this coming Thursday, but that is officially not happening.

The roster is back down to 90

As we get closer to the start of OTAs, the Minnesota Vikings have made the first of what will likely be several roster moves ahead of everybody getting together in Eagan.

The team has announced that they have waived wide receiver Daylen Baldwin. That means that the roster is now back at 90 players.

Baldwin was signed by the Vikings in mid-November last season and spent time on the practice squad but did not see any game action. He was signed to a futures contract in January.

Immediately after the start of the “legal tampering” period of free agency. . .or well before, depending on who you believe. . .quarterback Kirk Cousins made the decision to leave the Minnesota Vikings to sign a four-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Vikings brass made it clear in the lead-up to free agency that they wanted Cousins back, but the two sides didn’t get a deal worked out.

We now know what happened and, given what’s transpired since, it’s pretty funny.
