It’s coming. It’s as inevitable as the tides and it will determine our mental well-being for the next seven-ish months. Yes, it’s football season. It’s Houston Texans season and I’ll just bet you are itching to watch the first game of the year, aren’t you?
Well, I’ve got you covered, thanks to 506 Sports for their big board, here is where you can expect to watch the Texans game in your part of the world:
CBS Late Games
Blue: Houston Texans at Los Angeles Rams (Kevin Harlan, Trent Green)
Red: Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers (Jim Nantz, Tony Romo)...
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Texans fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
Heading into the start of the season, we want to know how you’re feeling about the Texans. Every week of the season we will ask fans if they are confident the team is headed in the right direction and more of the most pressing questions facing the coming game. Let us know what you think!
Thus we get to the first roses and thorns of the 2025 season. As a reminder, this is where we look at the top five players from each team and also look at their collective stats on offense and defense to see if we can figure out how each team plans to win on Sunday. We are using PFF scores for the top five players. I went through a tutorial on my last piece. You can access the tutorial here.
It should be noted that my information on the trade was apparently accurate. I am blaming that on pro football...
The Texans are kicking off their 2025 season in Los Angeles, against the Rams, and have some players who are in jeopardy of missing their first game.
Texans offensive coordinator Nick Caley could have his hands full if Christian Kirk and Braxton Berrios end up missing Week one. With Joe Mixon already out for the first four weeks, an offensive line still very much up in the air, and now the wide receiver...

It’s still a little hard to believe that meaningful Houston Texans football is four days away. Doesn’t it feel like this offseason was just a little longer than other ones? Granted, in previous offseasons we’ve had teams where it looked like they wouldn’t win three games and those offseasons flew past; so what do I know?
What I do know is that with the regular season officially underway tomorrow and effectively underway on Sunday, there’s a lot of money to be made on the side just from watching football.
Just [go...
On Wednesday morning, the Houston Texans named five players as permanent captains for the 2025 regular season. Per NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the five captains are quarterback C.J. Stroud and wide receiver Nico Colins on offense, linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair and edge rusher Will Anderson on defense, and running back Dare Ogunbowale on special teams.
Of the five, Stroud, Anderson, and Al-Shaair are returning captains while Anderson and Ogunbowale are first-timers this season.
Compared to the 2024 season, the Texans named two less players as captains compared to the seven they had a year ago. At the time, left tackle Laremy...
Labor Day weekend has came and went, and as the September breeze sweeps through the air, the tidings of a new football season come near. Welcome to a new season of the NFL Power Rankings, where the stakes cannot go any higher.
Last year, the theme of the entire Houston Texans season was “expectations.” Virtually every person in the state of Texas had high expectations for the Houston Texans following their blowout 2023 season, highlighted by quarterback CJ Stroud. Getting to the divisional round before anyone had time to properly familiarize themselves with the new guard of Texans players sent...
The Houston Texans organization has pulled a fast one on its fans and the media. They’ve drawn a veil of ignorance over us, trying to hide the truth about Joe Mixon until it was certain he’d miss part of the season. When they couldn’t delay anymore, they announced Joe Mixon would be put on reserve/non-football injury list, sidelining him for at least four games.
Third-year head coach DeMeco Ryans and seasoned GM Nick Caserio delayed, denied, and diffused any questions regarding running back Joe Mixon’s health until the last possible moment. That moment occurred last Tuesday when official 53-man rosters...
No more waiting. No more wondering. NFL football returns this week with a slate chock full of exciting matchups.
The one we care about the most hits at 3:25pm on Sunday when your Houston Texans take on the Los Angeles Rams at Sofi Stadium in LA.
Historically, these matchups have not gone well for the Texans, with the Rams leading the series 4-1, having won the last 3. However, the Rams haven’t faced Demeco Ryans, C.J. Stroud, Derek Stingley Jr and the rest of the 2025 Texans.
Since their last matchup on 10/31/21, Ryans and...
There was no bigger news in the NFL over the weekend than the Micah Parsons trade to the Green Bay Packers. Technically, he was traded for a defensive tackle and two first round picks. The Cowboys can claim they think this makes their team better, but it is really a salary cutting move because they did not want Parsons to be the highest paid NFL defender on their watch. Sure enough, he immediately signed a four year, 188 million dollar extension with the Packers.
We could go to spoctrac.com to get the particulars because all of these contracts are inflated...
Only one NFL team leaves February as champions. Coming into the season, some teams possess more realistic expectations and face greater pressure to win it all than others. Thus, these rankings offer a subjective measure to determine which teams enter the season under the most pressure to win it all.
Of note, sometimes the pressure on teams to win does not exactly correlate to where they might be on season-starting power rankings or betting odds to win it all. A number of factors could drive a team facing more pressure to win vs. expectations.
With that, on to the rankings:...
The Houston Texans are set to be without starting running back Joe Mixon for at least the first four weeks of the regular season.
Mixon has stayed relatively healthy throughout his long career, but he’s been banged up lately. His ankle injury has been nagging him for a while, and the Texans are playing it safe with their veteran runner — a key leader both on and off the field.
When asked about Mixon’s outlook, Texans general manager Nick Caserio gave a cautious response:
“We’ll see. We’ll take it one day at a time. We’ll evaluate those players after...
