Texans address offensive line early in this post-free agency mock draft
Sure, free agency is still ongoing, but the Texans have among the least amount of cap space remaining and have mightily slowed down the number of frenzied moves since last week. Despite the media contentiousness, the team is in a strong position across the entire roster, except for the offensive line. Their 2024 achilles heel could be an unmitigated disaster heading into 2025. However, the Texans have seven picks in the draft to help solve this issue.

The all-important draft haul will dictate if the Texans can make a run or not
The Houston Texans General Manager Nick Caserio is as wily a coyote as there are in the NFL. His unrelenting maneuvering through free agency and the draft make him one of the more aggressive and fluid GMs... but also one of the more risk-intensive in all of sports.
Caserio could have retained the entire offensive line for 2025. Instead, he chose to offload Kenyon Green, take a $14.6M cap hit on Shaq Mason, and ship off Laremy Tunsil for future draft capital. Now, the Texans...
A combination of review and a look ahead for a critical, if less-attention-grabbing, part of the team
Welcome to the optimism of the off-season. The offensive side of the ball will get the most attention, between the emphasis on improving the the offensive line and adding to the receiver room. Houston already took one step in that direction with their trade with Jacksonville to add Christian Kirk for at least the 2025 season. Of course, along with the interior of the line, Houston will need to settle that rather significant left tackle slot, as Laremy Tunsil will call the DMV...
What could a healthy campaign look like for the talented tight end?
I promised a series of these and silly free agency and trade news got in the way. So, here is the second installment of the “making the leap” series. Today’s feature looks at enigmatic tight end Brevin Jordan. At his very best, Jordan has tantalized Texans’ brass with an impressive combination of speed and power at the tight end position. At his worst, Jordan simply isn’t there.
Based on his first few seasons in the league, Jordan earned himself a nickname we use around these parts. We call...
The Texans added another great player to their secondary.
General Manager Nick Caserio added standout safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson from the Eagles via trade, which included sending former first-round left guard Kenyon Green to Philadelphia.
A rare player for player trade that could benefit both sides. Philadelphia is known for their offensive line talent, which is led by offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, and that is likely the best landing spot possible for Green, who is looking to reach the potential that allowed him to be drafted fifteenth-overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.
While Houston adds another extremely talented, high energy...
The Texans are solidifying their special teams group by signing LB Nick Niemann to a two-year deal.
The Texans are continuing to solidify their defense while also building a better special teams unit into a more impactful group with their latest signing.
Per NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Texans are signing former Chargers linebacker and core special-teamer Nick Niemann to a two-year, $6.5 million deal. The Chargers were reportedly interested in bringing Niemann back, but the Texans made the former sixth-round an offer he could not pass up.
In four seasons with the Chargers, Niemann played in 64 total games...
Demeco Ryans in charge of a formidable force
We’ve all heard it: The NFL is a copycat league
and
Defenses win championships
The current reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles won the crown with a stifling defense that not only overcame the Patrick Mahomes, Taylor Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs, they overcame the KC Refs as well.
Now, only a few days into 2025 NFL Free Agency, head coach Demeco Ryans and your Houston Texans have amassed one of the most formidable defenses in all the land.
Here’s a quick recap (as of this writing) of new/returning Texans defenders:...
Brandon Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation joins BRB for five questions
Nick Caserio may have pulled off a fast one. He traded Kenyon Green to the Philadelphia Eagles and a 2026 fifth round pick in exchange for C.J. Gardner-Johnson and a 2026 sixth round pick. It almost seems unreal. Gardner-Johnson was a starting safety for the Super Bowl Champion Eagles while Kenyon Green was getting benched mid-game for the Houston Texans.
So, we got in touch with Brandon Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation to get the lowdown CJGJ. What were we missing if anything? Of course, we returned the favor...
Mario Edwards will return to the Texans defense after recording 12 starts during the 2024 seasons.
The Texans are once again re-signing one of their own as they agreed to terms with defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr. on a new two-year, $9.50 million deal. Edwards returns after starting 12 games in 2024, his most since the 2017 campaign when he was a member of the Raiders.
At 30 years old, Edwards was a key contributor for the Texans defense in his first season with the team, recording 31 tackles, three tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups, and two...
The Battle Red Blog writers came together to share their thoughts on the big trade
The Houston Texans have shipped off Laremy Tunsil for a slew of draft picks and the internet duly went into chaos. Good Twitter/X was working without a hitch yesterday....
The subsequent fallout and trade evaluation will take time, but I quickly asked the Battle Red Blog writers to give their immediate thoughts. And, boy did they run the spectrum of thoughts.
