After Ryan Shazier suffered a career-ending injury, the Pittsburgh Steelers were left with a void at inside linebacker. Shazier’s injury came out of nowhere, and the Steelers were left scrambling. Today, they’ve found quality pieces at that position, but they had to cycle through a lot of guys during the time in between. Robert Spillane […]
UNITY TWP., Pa. — Under head coach Mike Tomlin, the Pittsburgh Steelers have often referred to their opponents as “nameless gray faces,” a motivational tactic from Tomlin that tries to emphasize the importance of the Steelers executing their own game plan, regardless of who is on the side of the ball or what they’re trying to do.
For Steelers left tackle Broderick Jones, after two weeks of training camp battles against the likes of T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith and Nick Herbig, any nameless gray face will do.
“Just ready to get to it and hit some other guys,” Jones said...
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be back at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe on Tuesday for their 11th training camp practice of the 2025 season. This one follows the team having Monday off. It’s open to the public, and our very own Alex Kozora will be in attendance for it once again. Throughout the day, I […]
The Pittsburgh Steelers have a history of legendary defenders. That includes names like Joe Greene, Rod Woodson, and Troy Polamalu. T.J. Watt is adding his name to that list, too. While he’s only been in the NFL for eight years, Watt has built an incredible career for himself. He’s a four-time first-team All-Pro, two-time second-team […]
No position on the Pittsburgh Steelers roster has embodied the franchise’s tradition of continuity and excellence quite like center. Since 1966, they’ve had a franchise-caliber center for 53 of 59 possible seasons with guys like Mike Webster, Dermontti Dawson and Maurkice Pouncey headlining the list. And now, rookie Zach Frazier looks poised to carry that […]
The Pittsburgh Steelers begin preseason play against the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium on Saturday night, but there’s a chance they won’t see Jacksonville’s starters. Speaking to the local media today, Coen said he isn’t sure if starters will play, or if they do how many reps they’ll get. “We’re still working through it,” Coen […]
UNITY TWP, Pa. — Within a star-studded Pittsburgh Steelers defense, James Pierre isn’t the first player that comes to mind. The sixth-year cornerback is reminding everyone he’s there during training camp at St. Vincent College, though.
As starter Joey Porter Jr. and backup Cory Trice dealt with injuries, Pierre stepped in during a pair of practices, notching an interception near the end of Friday’s session and two more in one-on-one drills on Saturday.
“I’m just doing what I’m told,” Pierre said. “Being here for a while, I know what to do, how to respond to a lot of things. …...
While New York Jets QB Justin Fields avoided a serious injury, the franchise hasn’t avoided the injury bug this summer. On Tuesday, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn outlined notable injuries to key skill players, one month ahead of the team’s opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. “Will [McDonald] in [individual] had back spasms,” Glenn said during […]

DK Metcalf and Jalen Ramsey, now Steelers teammates, squared off in the Seahawks-Rams rivalry years ago. Although they now share a locker room in Pittsburgh, they still line up on opposite sides of the ball. But they are both professionals, and they treat the opportunity with the requisite professional courtesy. “One thing that I’ve always […]
The Pittsburgh Steelers spent a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on DL Derrick Harmon, and so far, the early returns have been promising. On The Snap Count podcast, former Steelers QB Charlie Batch and OL Trai Essex discussed what they’ve seen out of Harmon in training camp. The latter has been particularly impressed […]
The Pittsburgh Steelers have released tight end Kevin Foelsch after just one week on the team, the club announced on Tuesday.
Foelsch, 24, signed with the team on July 29 after an injury to rookie tight end DJ Thomas-Jones. That injury was initially feared to be season-ending, and the Steelers only had six tights ends on the roster — despite the fact that they’ve been playing four at one time — so they needed to bolster their depth with Foelsch.
But a week later, Thomas-Jones got good news about his injury and has made a full recovery, returning to practice...
