Ever since the Steelers selected Drew Allar in the NFL Draft, the drumbeat for Will Howard has started to quiet. Some of that is to be expected. Allar, as a Pennsylvania product following his time at Penn State, was a higher draft pick than Howard. He was also a 5-Star prospect who had legitimate first-round […]

Aaron Rodgers was once again the talk of Pittsburgh this past week when he announced that this would be his final season. For NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero, this announcement seems intentional. “Aaron Rodgers never says anything accidentally,” said Pelissero on a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show. “Everything he says has a reason […]

It’s quite clear that the Pittsburgh Steelers want to develop quarterbacks Will Howard and Drew Allar while getting Aaron Rodgers ready for his last season. The Steelers have expressed they would like to keep all four quarterbacks, including Mason Rudolph, but the chances of that happening seem slim.
Rudolph could end up being the odd man out. If that’s the case, the Arizona Cardinals could be a perfect landing spot for the veteran QB.
According to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN, the Cardinals and quarterback Jacoby Brissett are nowhere near close in contract talks.
“After months of negotiating, quarterback Jacoby Brissett...
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the least innovative teams in the NFL over the last number of years, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. Their predictability on defense was emblematic of the final years of the Mike Tomlin era, which led to mediocre-to-good regular seasons but consistent failures in the postseason.
Former Steelers linebacker Vince Williams chimed in on the Steelers’ defense and his personal experiences with the organization.
“[The] Steelers defense did have an unhealthy attachment to base personnel,” Williams posted on X. “5 man pressure was a strength that lived long enough to become...
Behind the Steel Curtain
In the NFL’s highly-structured offseason, it’s hard to be ahead of schedule. But this year, the Steelers offense is slightly ahead of where it was in 2025.
Last spring, starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t sign with the Steelers until June, missing organized team actives (OTAs) entirely. But in 2026, while Rodgers still took some time to make up his mind on an NFL return, he signed ahead of the Steelers’ first OTA in May.
“Great,” wide receiver DK Metcalf said in a media session Thursday when asked about Rodgers’ arrival. “Last year was kind of a late start for everybody....
Behind the Steel Curtain
Longtime ESPN analyst Michael Wilbon thinks the nonstop coverage of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been silly. And he blames the network that he works for.
“He’s irrelevant now. What makes him relevant now? This network talking about him every day — day in, day out — as if they’re hanging on and waiting for Patrick Mahomes three years ago,“ Wilbon said on ESPN this week. ”He’s irrelevant at this point.
“He’s not LeBron James; he’s not Tom Brady. He’s not playing that way into his 40s. This whole thing is overstated. They’re a third-place team in their own...
The Pittsburgh Steelers have fielded a bottom-half offense every season since 2018. But one analyst believes there’s a path to becoming a legitimate playoff-caliber unit with one more offseason acquisition. “If Pittsburgh hopes to make Rodgers’ last ride a memorable one, it should add a little more to its receiving corps,” Kristopher Knox wrote for […]

Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Vince Williams peeled back the curtain on one aspect of the Steelers’ defense that was a major issue under former head coach Mike Tomlin and defensive coordinator Teryl Austin.
“Steelers defense did have an unhealthy attachment to base personnel. 5 man pressure was a strength that lived long enough to become a weakness,” Williams wrote on X Saturday.
Williams is not the only former Steeler to question the schematics of Tomlin’s defense. Former Steelers cornerback Darius Slay recently had some choice words for the Steelers’ defensive scheme. And he didn’t place the blame on former Steelers...
For the first time, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Broderick Jones gave an update on his recovery from a devastating season-ending neck injury last year.
“Recovery is good. I feel fine, just getting back to it,” Jones said at OTAs on Wednesday.
In regard to his timeline of being 100 percent, Jones said he’s unsure.
“I really don’t have a timeline. They never gave me a timeline,” he said. “They’re just monitoring it day by day. We’ll go from there.”
There’s another concern that has emerged with Jones’ injury, however. Jones has lost a significant amount of weight due to not...
After news broke that Broderick Jones’s injury was more serious than originally thought, questions about the left side of the offensive line started to permeate. The casual school of thought was that Dylan Cook, who replaced Jones after his injury, would hold down the spot, while Troy Fautanu continued to man the right. Mike McCarthy […]

The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-structured tight end Pat Freiermuth’s contract, according to Nick Farabaugh of PennLive. The move frees up some cap space for the team this year.
“They just changed his salary into roster bonus. He’s basically getting paid nearly $6M in a lump sum. It just pushed hit cap hit up in future years to give short-term relief,” Farabaugh replied on X.
The Steelers have a little more room to work with now to possibly extend players like cornerback Joey Porter Jr. and outside linebacker Nick Herbig.
The offense improved under offensive coordinator Arthur Smith in 2025, but...
