Steelers fire senior special teams coach in shock move

The Steelers have parted ways with senior special teams coach Derius Swinton II “due to a violation of club policy,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Friday morning.

The exact details of the policy Swinton reportedly violated are unclear.

Part of the Steelers’ new coaching staff under head coach Mike McCarthy, Swinton entered 2026 as Pittsburgh’s top special teams assistant behind coordinator Danny Crossman. Swinton is an experienced NFL coach with history on offense, defense, and special teams. PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren revealed during OTAs on Thursday that he has slimmed down this offseason.

Warren, who was listed at 215 pounds in 2025, said he currently weighs 208 pounds. Shedding weight was a priority for the fifth-year RB out of Oklahoma State.

“I’ve definitely been taking this offseason seriously,” Warren said. “We’re going into Year 5. I know the ins and outs of everything, so we’re moving it.”

Warren added that he feels faster and more explosive.

“Quicker, just more explosive muscle. I feel good,” he said.

Brian Baldinger Believes Steelers Could Have ‘Top-Five Offensive Line’

Building up the trenches has been a Pittsburgh Steelers priority in recent years. They’ve spent three of their last four first-round picks on offensive linemen. They’ve spent other top draft picks on linemen, too, such as using a second-round pick on Zach Frazier. That unit is starting to come together, and Brian Baldinger thinks it […]

Steelers Safety Jaquan Brisker Looks ‘Hella Good’ In OTAs, Kaboly Observes

In a busy offseason, Jaquan Brisker’s signing by the Pittsburgh Steelers flew under the radar a bit. The one-year deal didn’t break the bank, and the move came shortly after the Michael Pittman Jr. splash trade and extension, not to mention the Rico Dowdle addition and Jamel Dean’s big signing in the same secondary. Yet […]

Former NFL QB ‘Hated’ Steelers’ Selection Of ‘Checkdown Charlie’ Drew Allar

The Pittsburgh Steelers added to their quarterback room this offseason, spending a third-round pick on Penn State’s Drew Allar. While Allar has a lot of potential, he clearly still has a lot to learn. The Steelers are reportedly uninstalling everything that he learned in college. That’s not a great sign for Allar’s current level, but […]

Versatility is the Key for New Steelers S Jaquan Brisker

PITTSBURGH — Jaquan Brisker has a new team in the Pittsburgh Steelers, and versatility is a big reason why the Steelers liked him.

Although Brisker is a Pittsburgh guy who became an All-American at Penn State, his pro football home had always been Chicago.

The Bears drafted him in the second round back in 2022, and for his first four NFL seasons, Brisker played almost the same amount of snaps at free safety (1,270) as he did in the box (1,290), according to PFF.

Now, the expectation is for Brisker to spend most of his time at free safety, with...

Pat Freiermuth endured, professionally, a disappointing season last year. By and large, he did so silently, but he wants more. He admitted as much at the end of last season and sees signs for optimism on that front under new HC Mike McCarthy and the offense the Steelers are installing. Even though it’s less centered […]

Roman Wilson Opens Up on Chemistry with Aaron Rodgers: ‘Have to Be on the Same Wavelength’

During a recent appearance on Christian Kuntz’s podcast, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Roman Wilson opened up on his chemistry with four-time NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The third-round pick out of Michigan was a healthy scratch on numerous occasions down the stretch last year, as Rodgers preferred to have veteran receivers Adam Thielen and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the lineup. Rodgers is very detailed and expects his receivers to be in the right spot.

Wilson admitted that mentally it was a challenge being on the same page with Rodgers.

“I think last year with Aaron, that was pretty cool,” Wilson said....

Fowler: Will Howard ‘Probably Has The Inside Track’ To Be Steelers’ Backup QB

The Pittsburgh Steelers have their starting quarterback for 2026, but they still have questions at the position. Specifically, it’s still unclear how the rest of that room will shake out. The Steelers have four quarterbacks, but it seems unlikely that they’ll keep all of them on their 53-man roster. Aaron Rodgers will start, but it […]
