The Pittsburgh Steelers signed former Penn State defensive back Daequan Hardy to the practice squad, the team announced on Tuesday.
Hardy played at Penn Hills. He played on the same 7-on-7 team as Mike Tomlin’s son, Dino Tomlin.
“Me, Joey (Porter Jr.), Dino, we all played on the same 7-on-7 team,” Hardy said in April of 2024. “So, I would always be around Mike Tomlin. I had a couple of conversations with him. I don’t know if he remembers me, but I sure hope so.”
Like most kids that grew up in Western Pennsylvania, Hardy was a Steelers fan. He’ll...
The Steelers announced a handful of practice squad moves today, signing linebacker Mark Robinson and defensive back Daequan Hardy.
To make room, the team released defensive end K.J. Henry and wide receiver John Rhys Plumlee.
Plumlee had been on the Steelers practice squad for less than a week.
Robinson should be a familiar name to Steeler fans. The linebacker was the team’s 2022 seventh-round pick, making the 53-man roster in all of his first three seasons. From 2023-24, he was a top special teamer for Pittsburgh, playing in over 65% of snaps on that side of the ball in both...
Behind the Steel Curtain
A year ago, Beanie Bishop Jr. was in the middle of a four-interception season. Statistically, a rare one for a Pittsburgh Steelers rookie cornerback. Today, he’s a free agent and hoping for his next NFL chance. Released yesterday in a move that surprised many fans, Mike Tomlin declined to explain why Bishop was let go. […]

The Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off a big upset in Week 9, taking down the NFL’s best team. While they were coming off two ugly losses, they turned things around against the Indianapolis Colts. Despite starting slow, the Steelers controlled most of the game. The six turnovers they forced helped with that. However, former NFL offensive […]

The trade deadline is nearly here, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have yet to make a deadline-day deal. Earlier Tuesday, Jakobi Meyers was sent to Jacksonville, and now another receiver that could have potentially landed in Pittsburgh is off the board.
Rashid Shaheed is now a member of the Seattle Seahawks, per NFL insider Adam Schefter. The former Saint joins an elite Seattle receiver room that contains the NFL’s receiving yards leader, Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Shaheed was another receiver rumored to potentially land in Pittsburgh, leaving general manager Omar Khan with even...
Behind the Steel Curtain
The Pittsburgh Steelers made an attempt to land wide receiver Jakobi Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders, but Omar Khan’s best offer fell short of the deal the Jacksonville Jaguars made to land the big-play receiver.
The Jaguars sent fourth- and sixth-round picks to the Raiders to land Meyers, who will become a free agent this offseason.
According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, Khan had been in talks with the Raiders, but was outbid by Jaguars general manager James Gladstone.
“Pittsburgh expressed some interest in Jakobi Meyers, but obviously Jacksonville really stepped up to get something done...
With their backs against the wall following two straight ugly losses and staring down the best team in the NFL coming to town for a Week 9 matchup, the Pittsburgh Steelers responded in a big way, forcing six Indianapolis Colts turnovers and rolling to a 27-20 win that wasn’t anywhere near as close as the […]

The Pittsburgh Steelers added a familiar face to their practice squad last week, bringing back receiver John Rhys Plumlee. His tenure with the team was short, however, as the Steelers released the Swiss Army knife QB/WR on Tuesday.
In corresponding moves, the Steelers signed defensive back Daequan Hardy and linebacker Mark Robinson to the practice squad. The team also released outside linebacker K.J. Henry.
Plumlee spent training camp with the Steelers in 2024, serving as the team’s fourth quarterback before being released that August. He had a stint on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad, then latched on with the Seattle...
The Pittsburgh Steelers signed a familiar face in linebacker Mark Robinson to their practice squad on Tuesday.
Robinson was drafted by the Steelers in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was on the team’s active roster and practice squad, before being released in late August.
On Aug. 28, Robinson was signed to the New England Patriots’ practice squad. The New York Jets signed Robinson to their active roster off the Patriots’ practice squad on Sept. 23.
Robinson did not last long with the Jets, however, as he was waived on Oct. 18.
The former Ole Miss product...
On a busy, transaction-filled day across the NFL landscape ahead of the trade deadline, the Pittsburgh Steelers continued to tweak around the fringes of the roster, particularly on the practice squad. The Steelers announced the signings of cornerback Daequan Hardy and familiar face in linebacker Mark Robinson to the practice squad, while releasing the likes […]

Patrick Queen carried some high expectations as he flipped from Baltimore to Pittsburgh last offseason. His first year with the Steelers was rather unremarkable, leading a defense that had many struggles toward the end of the 2024 season. In 2025, he has put together some good games, although there’s still been some inconsistencies as well. […]

At the heart of the impressive performance from the Pittsburgh Steelers defense in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts was an often overlooked piece, that being second-year linebacker Payton Wilson. He’s had some struggles this season, seeing his playing time reduced for stretches due to his struggles against the run. He’s also struggled in coverage […]
