The Pittsburgh Steelers brought in five players for pro tryouts at mandatory minicamp on Tuesday — wide receiver Trayvon Rudolph, tight end Robert Tonyan, punter James Platte, inside linebacker Amari Burney and outside linebacker Jamin Davis.

Tonyan has ties to head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, as he played five seasons with the Green Bay Packers (2017-22).

The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted five players for tryouts on the first day of mandatory minicamp Tuesday, PennLive’s Nick Farabaugh reported, including former first-round linebacker Jamin Davis.

The Steelers also worked out former Packers tight end Robert Tonyan, wide receiver Travyon Rudolph, linebacker Amari Burney, and punter James Platte.

Davis was drafted 19th overall by the Washington Commanders in 2021 out of Kentucky. His best year came in 2022, when he logged 104 total tackles and three sacks. Both were in attendance for minicamp, and head coach Mike McCarthy showed his support for the rising star edge rusher.

“There’s a personal side to this and there’s a professional side to this,” McCarthy said via Alan Saunders. “In Nick’s case, he’s been in constant communication with us. … He’s done the things necessary.”

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers brought in former Washington Commanders first-round pick Jamin Davis for a pro tryout at mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.

The Commanders selected Davis at 19th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. The former Kentucky Wildcat recorded 104 tackles and three sacks in his second season with the Commanders. He followed with 89 tackles and three sacks in his 2023 campaign.

The Commanders declined the fifth-year option on Davis’ contract in April of 2024, however. He moved to defensive end in the offseason.
