We’ve reached NFL trade deadline week, which is not nearly as eventful as say, the NBA, NHL, or MLB trade deadlines, but we could still see some activity from now until Tuesday’s deadline.
For the second year in a row, the trade deadline is during Week 10. The Seattle Seahawks have historically been a team willing to make midseason moves, whether big-time acquisitions like Leonard Williams and Duane Brown, or sneaky good moves like Carlos Dunlap, Quandre Diggs, and most recently Ernest Jones IV. Follow Field Gulls’ coverage throughout Monday and Tuesday, and we’ll see if the Seahawks will be...

We read the predictions, we swallowed our pride, we argued amongst one another. The Seattle Seahawks spent the majority of the 2025 NFL off-season making drastic changes at QB1 and WR1. Both moves elicited a mixed reaction from pundits and fans alike. Although, anecdotally I’ll say that most Seahawks-centric journalists were saying that we’d be alright (*Kendrick voice).
Professionals in the known NFL universe had some specific assessments of the 2025 version of Seattle’s squad, namely stating that after moving on from Geno Smith, DK Metcalf, and Tyler Lockett, the team had spent the off-season downgrading. During Sunday night’s resounding...
Field Gulls
The Seattle Seahawks’ lone appearance (barring any flexing for the rest of the season) on Sunday Night Football was loud and eye-opening for much of America. If most of the country was asleep for the Monday night win over the Houston Texans, millions were wide awake to see Seattle destroy the Washington Commanders in their own building. A night meant to honor the 1980s Super Bowl teams and retire the great Art Monk’s jersey number turned into disaster literally from the opening kickoff, and the Seahawks never looked back on their way to a 38-14 win.
It’s Enemy Reaction time,...

The NFL season has effectively reached the midway point, with Week 9 action wrapping up Monday evening when the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys face off on Monday Night Football.
Once the Cardinals and Cowboys wrap up their game, there won’t be a shortage of content in the NFL news cycle, though, as even in the absence of on field action until Thursday, the 4 pm New York time trade deadline is certain to drive rumors, reports and perhaps even some actual news of real trades.
With that in mind, the Philadelphia Eagles made yet another acquisition ahead of the...

The Seattle Seahawks slipped out of first place for a few hours on Sunday afternoon, after the Los Angeles Rams waylaid the New Orleans Saints. However, a dominating victory over the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football put Seattle back atop the NFC West by way of tiebreaker, with divisional matchups against the Arizona Cardinals and Rams in the next two weeks.
Sunday night, though, the Seahawks gave Washington and former Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn everything they could handle, delivering a 24-point victory to Hawks fans as several members of the 2025 rookie class saw extensive playing time.

There are a lot of ways to break down a game, unless one team is so thoroughly outclassed that one inescapable conclusion remains: this was a nationally televised whoopin’ of other people’s bottoms. The type we used to see with the [redacted] Seattle Seahawks. You know, the brand of defensive suffocate-o-fest that temporarily got Seattle banned from primetime.
Seahawks 38, Washington Commanders 14 hardly conveys the power imbalance on display Sunday night. When it mattered, Jayden Daniels was so under siege, the Washington run game was so ineffective, and the Seahawks offense so lethal that halftime might as well have...

Those throwback jerseys just make everything better!
In another S-tier jersey matchup with double throwbacks, the Seahawks came out on top of the Commanders in a 38-14 beatdown on national television. Sam Darnold was perfect in the first half, and the defense clamped down on an already depleted Washington offense, rendering them toothless. The only real threat for the Commanders was Jayden Daniels, who was severely injured in garbage time. He’s a fantastic, young talent which makes his needless injury all the worse.
Unfortunately, the injury bug also hit the Seahawks in this one, leaving a sour taste on what...

In Today’s Links: a flood of reactions to last night’s Seattle Seahawks’ prime-time victory over the Washington, DC Commanders, including numbers of note (especially from the first half of the ball game), what this victory means to our squad, where the ‘Hawks stand in the NFC play-off picture, reactions, videos, goofing off, and more. If you are at all like me, then your concern is with the injury status of one Ernest Jones, IV. The proverbial straw that stirs the drink, imo. But, when a player is sitting on the bench with a towel over his head, you know something...
Field Gulls
The good news for the Seattle Seahawks is that they handled the Washington Commanders with ridiculous ease to improve to 6-2. The bad news is it came at the cost of their star linebacker, Ernest Jones IV.
Jones was rolled up on late in the second quarter, departing the game early with a right knee injury. He did not return and looked to be in frustration while on the sidelines. Upon returning from the locker room, Jones was in street clothes but seemingly in good spirits. Obviously that’s not enough to know whether or not Jones will miss time.

If you wanted the Seattle Seahawks to make a big statement on Sunday night, you got it and then some.
The Seattle Seahawks smashing up the New Orleans Saints in Week 3 was fun but the Saints are an atrocious team. I know the Washington Commanders are not a very good team, but to go on the road and pummel them when their backs are ostensibly up against the wall in terms of playoff hopes? This was a massive victory out of the bye, and there’s every reason to believe Seattle is a playoff contender.
Let’s get to Winners and...

The Seattle Seahawks have the best record in the NFC. Well, they are one of four teams with the best record in the NFC anyway and after all the tiebreakers are applied, they sit third in the conference coming out of Week 9.
The NFC West could not be closer at the top. The Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams haven’t played a game yet, so there is no head-to-head, so Seattle’s 1-1 division record beats L.A.‘s 0-1. Seattle leads the division and is the three seed as of right now. The San Francisco 49ers are a half-game back at 6-3...
Field Gulls
The Seattle Seahawks (6-2) kicked off to the Washington Commanders (3-6) to begin Sunday Night Football, then proceeded to kick their asses for 60 minutes.
It was a masterclass we’ve seldom seen from the Seahawks in recent years, but it is reminiscent of the contending teams that won playoff games. Sam Darnold had an all-time great first half, going 16/16 for 282 yards and four touchdowns as the Seahawks raced out to a 28-0 lead. It was so comically easy to the point where it looked like the Commanders were showing little resistance on a night in which they were...
