The Seattle Seahawks have a new wide receiver in town, and if you blink you might miss him.
Former New Orleans Saints speedster Rashid Shaheed was traded to Seattle on Tuesday, with the Seahawks giving up fourth- and fifth-round draft picks in the process. With a full roster, someone had to be let go or placed on an injury list to get Shaheed on the squad.
Safety Jerrick Reed II was waived on Tuesday just days after he was promoted to the active roster after Julian Love was placed on injured reserve. Assuming he clears waivers (again) he’ll presumably head...

The Seattle Seahawks didn’t make a splash trade on deadline day, but they did make a reasonably significant move by acquiring wide receiver and kick/punt return specialist Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints. As if this league-leading explosive passing attack didn’t have enough firepower, Shaheed adds another speed and downfield threat element while also providing value on special teams. He’ll also get to reunite with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, with whom he only had a few games with before a season-ending meniscus injury.
Seattle gave up its 2025 fourth- and fifth-rounders to land Shaheed, whose contract is expiring this...

It’s hard to see him way back there, but that’s Kyler Murray on the bench now.
Head coach Jonathan Gannon just announced that Jacoby Brissett, not Murray, will be the Arizona Cardinals starting quarterback moving forward.
The immediate reports made it sound like this was a play-based decision.
Which it should be. That would be smart.
Because Kyler Murray has been terrible. Brissett has actually beaten a team lately.
But alas, subsequently, the verbiage coming out of Arizona is that they are buying more time for Murray’s foot to heal, with a new timetable of 4-8 weeks yada yada.
But...

Last week, after the Seattle Seahawks bye, many national media sites quickly forgot about the Seahawks, either keeping them pat or moving them down their rankings. However, with the complete dismantling of the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football, plus the new addition of wide receiver, Rashid Shaheed, has the national media woken up to viewing the Seahawks as legitimate Super Bowl contenders?
Well, as the Sunday Night Football broadcast team said, had this beat down of the Commanders happened at 1 P.M. Eastern, people likely would have shrugged the strong victory for the Seahawks off. However, since it was...

The Seattle Seahawks are sitting atop the NFC West, looking smarter and smarter with every game in which Sam Darnold dominates.
Even in Week 9 when Seattle traveled east to take on the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football and obliterated Washington and any hopes of turning the season around for former Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
The destruction of the Commanders was especially interesting in that the Seahawks did it without the services of their number two wide receiver, Cooper Kupp, who missed the game due to a pair of injuries, including a hamstring suffered during practice last week....

We have a first in NFL history: a suspension due to repeated violations of the “hip-drop tackle.” The final straw was a tackle on the Seattle Seahawks’ superstar Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Washington Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu has been ruled out for Week 10 against the Detroit Lions for this third infraction, although not a single one of those tackles was penalized at the time. The NFL has instead opted for fines as a means of punishment.
Here’s the tackle on JSN, which to be completely honest, I would not have even blinked as far as calling this an illegal play.
The...

The NFC West is the place to be.
All four teams won last week in pretty decisive fashion, continuing their claim as the best division in football right now. Furthermore, the Seattle Seahawks have consecutive division rivalry games coming up.
On deck: the recently-interesting Arizona Cardinals!
After dismantling the Dallas Cowboys 27-17 on the road, the Cardinals open as 6.5-point favorites against the Seahawks, according to FanDuel SportsBook. The Cardinals are trying their best impersonation of the Jets (not advisable under any circumstances) by playing a little cloak-and-dagger with their quarterback situation.
Jacoby Brissett has unquestionably been more effective recently,...

When the 2025 season began, Drake Thomas and Ty Okada were not core pieces of the Seattle Seahawks defensive plan. In fact they played only 15 and 6 snaps in Week 1, respectively.
Eight weeks later, that has changed in a big way. Okada has now played 367 defensive snaps, and 74 on special teams. Thomas has played 316 defensive snaps and 105 on special teams. The two undrafted players have been massive contributors, and have their starting jobs locked up, for at least a little while longer.
Every NFL team preaches “Next man up,” much like every coach says...

Supposedly, Kyler Murray isn’t healthy enough to start for the Arizona Cardinals against the Dallas Cowboys. It’ll be another weekend of Jacoby Brissett answering the call of duty, which has some wondering if Murray is being shadow benched for his uninspiring play, especially when looking at how generally effective the passing offense has been under Brissett. Either way, we are unsure as to who the QB will be when the Cardinals take on the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday.
The Dallas Cowboys have a high-flying offense under head coach and former Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. Their defense is atrocious and...

“Hello, Seattle!” A simple, yet effective, closing line from the great Mike Tirico last night as the Seattle Seahawks sent a message to the NFL that they are no longer one of best kept secrets in the NFL, but they are one of the best teams, period. A 38-14 destruction of the Washington Commanders doesn’t accurately describe the mismatch that we saw last night.
The Seahawks executed offensively to a level of precision that would have made even Mike Holmgren smile. Mike Macdonald’s defense made DC’s offense look inept and slow. The Seahawks went to Washington and took a desperate...

We’ve reached NFL trade deadline week, which is not nearly as eventful as say, the NBA, NHL, or MLB trade deadlines, but we could still see some activity from now until Tuesday’s deadline.
For the second year in a row, the trade deadline is during Week 10. The Seattle Seahawks have historically been a team willing to make midseason moves, whether big-time acquisitions like Leonard Williams and Duane Brown, or sneaky good moves like Carlos Dunlap, Quandre Diggs, and most recently Ernest Jones IV. Follow Field Gulls’ coverage throughout Monday and Tuesday, and we’ll see if the Seahawks will be...
