After more than seven months of waiting, only a week and a half remains until the Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers at Lumen Field to open the 2025 regular season for both teams.
The Seahawks come into the matchup on a one-game winning streak against the Niners, having finally upended San Francisco after falling to the division rivals six times in a row. However, Seattle does not enter without potential holes in the roster, and as he does almost every year, general manager set about to see if any of those holes could be addressed by players available...
Barely a week remains until the 2025 NFL season kicks off with the season opening game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys set for Thursday, September 4.
That means the offseason is all but over. Free agency and the draft are distant memories, and the preseason and training camp are complete, as all 32 teams across the league trimmed their rosters down to 53 prior to 4pm New York time Tuesday ahead of the regular season.
With rosters being reduced, that means the waiver wire has been flooded with players who could potentially be attractive to other teams,...
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Seahawks fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
It’s back!
We’ve got a new Seahawks Reacts Survey for you to participate in! The two questions are similar, but one focuses on a positional group and the other is about the overall team. After three weeks of Seahawks preseason, albeit a preseason in which starters seldom played, what is your confidence in the team? Are you feeling more confident, less...
On roster cutdown day, a different sort of roster move has impacted the Seattle Seahawks’ early schedule.
The first pick of this year’s draft for the Arizona Cardinals will not play in the earlier of the two matchups, as Walter Nolen heads to the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Nolen went 16th overall this spring and was a big reason why many outlets gave the Cardinals one of the highest grades in the entire NFL.
Instead, he will miss at minimum the first four weeks of the season. In Week 4, Seattle heads to Arizona for a Thursday Night matchup...
Tuesday the Seattle Seahawks trimmed the roster down from the 90 they are allowed to carry during the offseason to the 53 allowed during the regular season. In doing so the team went light at some positions, notably on the defensive line where the team kept only five players on the roster.
That had several fans concerned, particularly the fact that the Seahawks did not keep a true nose tackle, which left the defensive line room light, literally and figuratively.
Now, however, according to a report from Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Seattle is set to address the nose tackle position...
(Editor’s note: Everyone welcome Jer’rel Coleman to the Field Gulls staff!)
The shock and revelation of the initial 53-man roster is all but ingested for many of us at this point. That doesn’t mean that’s the end of the story for many of us fans, and especially not for the team itself. The cutdown day to 53 players is but a step in the forging of this roster. There is a good chance that there will be roster promotions, further cuts and possibly waiver claims before the season starts.
Whether or not the Seattle Seahawks makes any claims or signings...
The Seattle Seahawks have taken care of part one of their two-part roster task for this week. On Tuesday, the team pared its roster down from the 90-man limit to 53, but the initial 53 is almost never the roster you see for Week 1 of the regular season. Wednesday is all about waiver claims and practice squads, which can be formed as soon as the waiver deadline expires. Will the likes of Damien Martinez, Jacardia Wright, Patrick O’Connell, Ricky White III, and Brandon Pili be able to get through waivers and sign with the Seahawks practice squad as expected?...

Where do you see strength in the ‘Hawks roster? Where do you see weakness? Let the debate flow in the comments below. And, be kind to one another. Thanks for being here.

The Marquez Valdes-Scantling revenge game is already brewing.
Having just been released by the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday’s roster cutdown day, the two-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver already has his options lined up. NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported that MVS intends to sign with either the San Francisco 49ers or Pittsburgh Steelers.
As a vested veteran, MVS can sign anywhere as an immediate unrestricted free agent as opposed to going through waivers.
The 49ers and Steelers, of course, are the Seahawks’ first two opponents for the 2025 regular season. It’s no surprise both teams are looking for receiver help...
The Seattle Seahawks have announced their initial 53-man roster, this time a solid two hours after the 1 pm PT deadline. How they’re able to keep everything to tight-lipped that most of their cuts don’t leak before they release it themselves is actually remarkable.
It’s been a long day and there is little rest for the weary, as the Seahawks and the rest of the NFL still have the waiver wire to sift through and practice squads to form. Here are my early thoughts on the second initial 53-man roster of the Mike Macdonald era.
The 2024 season brought with it the hope and optimism of the new regime for the Seattle Seahawks. Gone wer Pete Carroll and the coaching staff he had assembled, with Mike Macdonald and a new bunch running the show.
Two of those members of the new bunch were offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and offensive line coach Scott Huff, who set to overhaul the offensive line, a group that had struggled for much of the past decade under Carroll.
To that end, during the 2024 offseason the Seahawks signed free agent Laken Tomlinson, then drafted Christian Haynes, Sataoa Laumea and Michael...
The Seattle Seahawks have yet to announce their 53-man roster. However, the team has commenced practice, and on the practice field are two undrafted rookie free agents: Jared Ivey and Connor O’Toole.
This would indicate that both UDFAs have made the 53-man roster. It would not be the most surprising as both players have impressed throughout training camp and the preseason. Ivey had four tackles and half a sack (plus a few pressures and run stops) while O’Toole had three tackles and several pressures.
Though Ivey (who many considered to be a draftable player out of Ole Miss this past...
