Welcome to today’s roundup of New Orleans Saints and NFL news!
The Saints could have a really good defensive line, but Broughton will need to stay healthy.
Hopefully, McCoy will have better luck with injuries moving forward.
Some more motivation.

In last year’s NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints selected Vernon Broughton from Texas with the 71st overall pick in the third round. The 6’5”, 311 lb. player was expected to have a large role along the Saints’ defensive line in 2025, but was sidelined for a majority of the year after suffering a season-ending hip injury in his regular season debut. Fast forward to this offseason, and Broughton was finally cleared for participation in March, but now faces an uphill battle to earn snaps in a competitive DL rotational group.
New Orleans put itself in a position to improve...

Former NFL running back Chris Johnson was recently revealed to have been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or more commonly referred to as ALS. The progressive neurodegenerative disease affects the nerve cells (motor neurons) in the brain and spinal cord. As the motor neurons deteriorate, the brain gradually loses its ability to communicate with muscles, resulting in weakness, twitching, difficulty speaking, swallowing, and breathing. Rather than fold and give in, Johnson, with the support of his family, has welcomed this difficult time head-on and is now garnering the attention of many as a viral trend is making waves across social...

Some people need to be reminded.
Decent representation for New Orleans.
High expectations may not be met.

The final five years of Drew Brees’ career were better than most quarterbacks’ entire careers.
Matthew Stafford recently appeared on the Green Light Podcast, hosted by Chris Long. During the interview, Stafford shared a conversation he had with Drew Brees before last season. Stafford said Brees told him that his next five years could be the best of his career.
NFL Live later shared the clip on its show, and as it was wrapping up, one of the commentators said, “Sounds good, but Drew Brees didn’t actually have five more great years after that age.”
The age they were referring...

Former New Orleans Saints linebacker Keith Mitchell has passed away at the age of 51.
The Garland, TX native was an All-American linebacker at Texas A&M. A member of the “Wrecking Crew” defense from 1993-1996, Mitchell was a part of 1993 Southwest Conference championship team that had a perfect 7-0 conference record, finishing the season 10-2 overall and No. 9 in the final AP Poll.
Mitchell was named was the defensive MVP of the Aggies’ 1995 Alamo Bowl victory over Michigan. He also earned second-team All-Southwest Conference honors in 1995 and first-team All-Big 12 honors in 1996.
In 1997, Mitchell...

We are not even at the start of training camp yet, so talking about potential trades that could happen before or mid-season is a bit early, but it’s still fun to consider some moves. Last year, the New Orleans Saints didn’t even make it to the regular season before they traded for Devonta Vele, which turned out to be a pretty good deal. Sometimes, when a need is just too glaring, getting a replacement as soon as possible is important before it gets exposed in the regular season.
When looking at the Saints’ roster, one area where this can happen...

In this week’s reacts poll, we asked readers which New Orleans Saints home game are they most looking forward to?
An overwhelming 64% of voters said it’s the Saints NFC South opponent, the Atlanta Falcons.
There is no love lost between these two teams and their fan bases, which makes up one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL. Adding fuel to the fire, this season’s Saints home game against the Falcons also coincides with the 20th anniversary of the iconic Domecoming game. As many fans will always remember Monday, September 25, 2006 and the Saints’ first game back in...

Yet another close position battle in training camp.
Hopefully, Kamara and Etienne will be as successful as fans hope.
A bit early, but some are taking note of Tyson’s injury, and it’s causing him to slide in rankings.

In 2025, the New Orleans Saints faced an unusual decision going into the season: who would be the starting quarterback in Week 1?
Between Drew Brees, Jameis Winston and Derek Carr, it’s a question the franchise has rarely had to deal with in recent decades. Alas, despite much speculation that the battle was merely a formality before Tyler Shough was handed the keys by preseason, it was second-year pro Spencer Rattler who got the nod from Kellen Moore.
A year on, a different question persists in the QB room: who’s the backup?
Having taken over the reins halfway through last...

New Orleans Saints legend Steve Gleason is showing his support for former NFL running back Chris Johnson, who revealed this week during an interview with Michael Strahan on Good Morning America that he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in 2025.
ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the nerve cells (motor neurons) in the brain and spinal cord. As the motor neurons deteriorate, the brain gradually loses its ability to communicate with muscles, resulting in weakness, twitching, difficulty speaking, swallowing, and breathing.
Sadly, Gleason knows that journey all too well. Diagnosed with ALS in 2011, he...
