Smith was waived Tuesday. O’Connell was a fourth-round draft pick n 2023 and Smith was a fifth-round pick the same year.

O’Connell now joins starting quarterback Geno Smith and fellow reserve Kenny Pickett on the 53-man roster. Cam Miller, a sixth-round pick, is on the practice squad.
