Patriots waive 2024 draft pick Layden Robinson from injured reserve

The stint on injured reserve is over for Layden Robinson.

The New England Patriots waived the 2024 draft choice from the season-ending list on Monday, the organization announced, giving him the opportunity to catch on elsewhere this fall.

Robinson, 24, reverted to injured reserve following the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline in August after going unclaimed. The sophomore guard had been waived with the injury designation on the heels of a preseason featuring 33 snaps on offense and 11 snaps on special teams.

Taken in the fourth round of last year’s class at pick No. 103 overall, Robinson appeared in 13...

How Drake Maye Responded To MVP Talk After Patriots’ Week 6 Win

“Drake Maye” and “MVP” have started to get mentioned in the same sentence amid a stellar stretch from the New England Patriots quarterback.

Maye continued his breakout second season by registering 261 passing yards and three touchdowns in Sunday’s 25-19 win over the New Orleans Saints. He became just the fourth quarterback in NFL history to notch 200 passing yards and a quarterback rating over 100 in five straight games at age 23 or younger.

As he continues to climb NFL leaderboards, Maye is drawing more recognition in the MVP conversation. However, Maye downplayed that discussion during Monday’s interview on...

Four Studs, Four Duds From Patriots’ Narrow Win Vs. Saints

Four Studs, Four Duds From Patriots’ Narrow Win Vs. Saints

The New England Patriots handled their business in Week 6, picking up a 25-19 victory over the New Orleans Saints. The game was a bit more tightly contested than it should have been, but at the end of the day, a win is a win.

The Pats continue to look like the real deal, and with a 4-2 record, they are firmly in the playoff hunt as we near the midway point of the season. Before turning the page to Week 7, though, let’s take a look back at the action and pick out four studs and four duds from...

How Patriots’ Running Backs Reacted To Ground Game Woes

How Patriots’ Running Backs Reacted To Ground Game Woes

Drake Maye has rekindled the New England Patriots’ offense, but their running attack remains a cause for concern.

The Patriots didn’t receive much help from their ground game during Sunday’s 25-19 win over the New Orleans Saints. Maye led the team with 28 rushing yards while Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson combined for 47 yards on 22 carries. Neither running back registered a rush longer than seven yards in Week 6.

That continued an unfortunate trend for the Patriots, who rank 26th with 91.5 rushing yards per game this season. Despite those doldrums, Stevenson and Henderson expressed optimism to [MassLive’s...

Patriots Legend Bill Belichick Pushes Back On UNC Exit Buzz

Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick hasn’t exactly gotten off to a stellar start to his new job at the helm of the North Carolina Tar Heels. In fact, Belichick’s 2025 Tar Heels are among the worst teams in program history through five games, per USA Today’s Rodd Baxley and Matthew Glenesk.

“It’s been nearly 137 years since UNC played its inaugural game against Wake Forest at the North Carolina State Fair,” Baxley and Glenesk wrote. “No team since the program’s inception has been worse than Belichick’s team through three Power Four games. The Tar Heels (2-3, 0-1...

Titans fire head coach six days before playing Patriots

Brian Callahan’s time in Nashville has reached its end in October.

The Tennessee Titans parted ways with the head coach on Monday after falling to 1-5 on the regular season and 4-19 during his tenure. The announcement comes less than a week before the 4-2 New England Patriots and a familiar staff visit Nissan Stadium.

“After extended conversations with our owner and general manager, we met with Brian Callahan this morning to tell him we are making a change at head coach,” Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker said in a statement. “These decisions are never easy, and they...

Patriots’ Week 7 Opponent Makes Huge Change Amid Brutal Start

When Mike Vrabel faces the Tennessee Titans in Week 7 for the first time since being fired as the team’s head coach following the 2023 season, his successor won’t be in attendance.

The Titans fired head coach Brian Callahan on Monday, six days before they host Vrabel’s New England Patriots.

Monday’s news comes amid Tennessee’s 1-5 start to the season and less than one month after Callahan gave up play-calling duties.

The 41-year-old went just 4-19 during his Titans tenure.

Tennessee’s offense ranks last in the NFL in yards per game (232.3) and 31st in points per contest (13.8).

Patriots Writer Believes Drake Maye Could Mount MVP Push

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is on a mission this season, proving he can be a franchise talent. His early success suggests he may even be a top-tier quarterback.

After New England defeated the New Orleans Saints 25-19 on Sunday, Boston Sports Journal Patriots writer Greg A. Bedard believes Maye might soon make a push in the MVP race.

“If he does this for the rest of the year, he’s headed for a top-five MVP season,” Bedard said on Sunday, via Patriots on CLNS.

Maye significantly impacted the NFL landscape when the Patriots traveled to Buffalo last week and...

Patriots’ Mike Vrabel Makes Stance Clear On Refs In Saints Game

The New England Patriots were on the wrong end of a horrendous pass interference call in the first quarter of their Week 6 battle against the New Orleans Saints. After Drake Maye connected with DeMario Douglas for a 61-yard touchdown reception, the play was rescinded due to an offensive pass interference call on Stefon Diggs that, upon further inspection, will leave any football fan on Earth in disbelief.

Luckily, the Patriots ended up overcoming the poor officiating and defeating the Saints, 25-19, behind an impressive performance from second-year quarterback Drake Maye, who three three touchdowns against New Orleans.

Fan Notes from the Patriots’ 25-19 win over the Saints

Three straight Victory Mondays! Here we go!

I honestly didn’t think I’d be sitting here in October, looking at a Monday Night game between the Bills and Falcons, and thinking that there was a chance that the Patriots could be first in the AFC East through the first six weeks of the NFL season. But here we find ourselves, and the Patriots keep getting better each and every week. Yesterday’s game wasn’t perfect, but it was a solid performance overall and has the Patriots very well positioned in a conference that doesn’t have one true dominant team. Oh what a...

Patriots Head Coach Mike Vrabel Opens Up On Returning To Tennessee In Week 7

The New England Patriots will be on the road to play the Tennessee Titans on Sunday in Week 7.

Although the Titans are 1-5, the game is an important one for Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Vrabel was the Titans’ head coach for six seasons, and he said this week will be different for him.

“Well, I think it’s going to feel different, [but] it can’t be different,” Vrabel said on ‘The Greg Hill Show’ on Monday. “It has to be the way we prepare, the way that we try to put together a game plan. But, we have to...
