The New England Patriots will be on the road to play the Tennessee Titans on Sunday in Week 7.
Although the Titans are 1-5, the game is an important one for Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Vrabel was the Titans’ head coach for six seasons, and he said this week will be different for him.
“Well, I think it’s going to feel different, [but] it can’t be different,” Vrabel said on ‘The Greg Hill Show’ on Monday. “It has to be the way we prepare, the way that we try to put together a game plan. But, we have to recognize the obvious, having spent time there. So [there’s] a lot of people on the other side that I know that I coached or worked with.”
Vrabel had some good moments as the head coach of the Titans. He was 54-45 as the head coach of Tennessee, and led the team to playoffs in three straight seasons, including reaching the AFC Championship Game in the 2019 season.
While Vrabel was the coach of the Titans in 2023, he was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame. Some thought that played a role in Tennessee firing him.
Yet, Vrabel said he isn’t sure that is the reason, as he put the blame on himself and not winning enough games.
“I don’t know, you’d have to ask the owner,” Vrabel said, when asked if going to the Patriots Hall of Fame played a role in him being fired by the Titans. “I know losing irked the owner, losing irked me. Like John Cooper used to say at Ohio State, winning takes care of everything and we didn’t win enough games in Tennessee.”
New England is a seven-point favorite on the road against the Titans on Sunday.
