New York Giants waive edge defender who started vs. Green Bay Packers

The New York Giants on Monday waived edge defender Tomon Fox, the fourth time Fox has been waived by the team this season.

Each time Fox has been waived, beginning when cuts were made from 90 players to 53 at the end of the presseason, he has been re-signed to the practice squad. It seems likely that will happen this time, as well.

With Kayvon Thibodeaux sidelined with a shoulder injury and Abdul Carter benched at the beginning of the game for disciplinary purposes, Fox started Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers. He played 11 snaps.

Fox has been...

PFF grades and snap counts from the Giants’ 27-20 loss to the Packers

PFF grades and snap counts from the Giants’ 27-20 loss to the Packers

Another week, another blown fourth-quarter lead. That’s the story of the 2025 season for this New York Giants team. The Giants are the only team in the NFL to put 30+ points on the board against the 9-2 Broncos and the only team to do the same against the 8-2 Eagles. They didn’t do that yesterday, but without their three main offensive weapons (four if you include Darius Slayton), they still put 20 points up and were one Jalin Hyatt broken-off route from possibly beating the Green Bay Packers or at least taking them to overtime. Instead, for the fourth...

6 early candidates said to emerge for New York Giants head coaching job

6 early candidates said to emerge for New York Giants head coaching job

Everybody and their cousin can put together lists of candidates for the New York Giants full-time head-coaching job. When NFL insider Jay Glazer does it, though, it is time to pay attention.

Glazer did exactly that during Sunday’s NFL pre-game show on FOX. He listed six names as early candidates, and said college coaches like Lane Kiffin of Ole Miss and Marcus Freeman of Notre Dame would not get consideration.

Glazer’s list:

  • Mike McCarthy, a Super Bowl-winner with the Green Bay Packers.
  • Matt Nagy, former Chicago Bears coach and current offensive coordinator with the Kansas City Chiefs. -...

NFL Draft order 2026: At No. 2, New York Giants could trade down

NFL Draft order 2026: At No. 2, New York Giants could trade down

The New York Giants now hold the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft after their 27-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. It’s a depressingly familiar position for the Giants, who started 2-8 for the third straight year, and are 2-9 for the second consecutive season.

If there’s a silver lining to the Giants’ five-game losing streak, it’s that their next head coach will be getting an infusion of talent when they get their new job. Not only will the Giants be getting Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo back from injury, Jaxson Dart will have a...

Giants-Packers: 5 plays that led to the loss

Giants-Packers: 5 plays that led to the loss

The New York Giants lost 27-20 to the Green Bay Packers in Week 11. Despite out-gaining Green Bay 336-296 yards and out-possessing the 35:56-24:04 the 2-9 Giants earned their ninth loss of the season, and their fifth in a row. We didn’t receive the whole Jameis Winston experience, for the wind and conditions at MetLife Stadium stifled the deep passing attack. Still, Winston did provide several clutch throws, while also putting the football in harm’s way a few times.

Winston almost threw two interceptions to Carrington Valentine, who was the outside corner squating on the No. 2 receiver’s out-breaking route....

Mike Kafka makes impressive NY Giants debut as interim head coach

Mike Kafka makes impressive NY Giants debut as interim head coach

The New York Giants did not win Mike Kafka’s debut as an NFL head coach on Sunday. It is certainly, though, hard to blame the Giants’ interim head coach.

It was a pretty impressive first act for Kafka in his audition for the full-time coaching job in 2026.

  • Kafka disciplined rookie edge defender Abdul Carter.
  • The head coach, calling offensive plays, went for it on fourth down four times. Three of those were on one drive.
  • Kafka said he would have gone for two if the Giants had scored a touchdown in the final two minutes when...

4 things we learned from the Giants’ 27-20 loss to the Packers

4 things we learned from the Giants’ 27-20 loss to the Packers

Entering today’s game, technically there was still a path for the New York Giants to run the table and make the playoffs now that the most difficult part of their 2025 schedule was mostly behind them (next week at Detroit notwithstanding). If you buy that, though, I have a bridge I’d like to sell you. So fans needed another motivation to watch this 2-8 team whose three most exciting players are all injured, two of them out for the season.

That motivation only indirectly concerned the people between the lines. Yes, it would be fun to see what Jameis Winston...

Giants-Packers instant grades: New York shows fight, but falls to 2-9

Giants-Packers instant grades: New York shows fight, but falls to 2-9

The New York Giants fell 27-20 to the Green Bay Packers in a competitive game on Sunday where the Giants out-gained Green Bay 336-296 yards, and had the ball more than 10 minutes longer. Still, New York fell in the wacky and windy conditions at MetLife Stadium. Both teams missed extra points and the kicking was a problem for each squad; this prompted first-time head coach Mike Kafka to go for four total fourth-down attempts – three on the same drive with the final one ending incomplete at the Green Bay 10-yard line.

The Jameis Winston experience was predictable, albeit...

New York Giants’ Abdul Carter disciplined for mid-week infraction

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — New York Giants rookie edge defender Abdul Carter did not start Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers due to what Carter said was an infraction that occurred during the week.

Giants’ interim head coach Mike Kafka said in the post-game that it was decision to sit Carter, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

“Coach’s decision. That was my decision,” Kafka said after the Giants fell to 2-9 with a 27-20 loss on Sunday. “We’ll just keep the rest of that in-house.”

The exact infraction by Carter is not known. The timing...
