John Mara’s patience is again being tested
New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll is “coaching for his job” over the final seven games of the season, according to FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
The Giants are 2-8 this season and on Monday Daboll announced that fan-favorite Tommy Devito will replace Daniel Jones as the team’s starting quarterback.
Schultz wrote:
While ownership has suggested he’ll return, there is a growing sense that #Giants HC Brian Daboll is coaching for his job over the final seven games.
After leading the Giants to a 9-7-1 record, winning a playoff game,...
The Giants are in the market for a new quarterback. Will they find one in 2025?
What we’ve long expected has come to pass. The New York Giants are officially in search for their quarterback of the future.
We knew the Giants were interested in last year’s quarterback class, with GM Joe Schoen personally scouting each of the top prospects. The Giants also attempted to trade up with the New England Patriots in the hopes of drafting either Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels. But as we know, that didn’t happen.
So now the Giants will turn their attention to the...
On Monday, the New York Giants officially benched quarterback Daniel Jones, demoting him to the QB3 spot, effectively ending his career in East Rutherford.
It was a move many saw coming after a Week 10 debacle in Germany against the Carolina Panthers but one that was followed by a more controversial decision.
Instead of moving Drew Lock into the starting role and using Tommy DeVito as his backup, the Giants instead promoted DeVito to QB1 in order to create a spark.
“After evaluating a bunch of things and looking at a lot of tape and being around Tommy last year...
Can quarterback reprise ‘DeVito-Mania’?
Tommy DeVito got the nod over Drew Lock to replace Daniel Jones as the New York Giants starting quarterback largely because of the “spark” DeVito gave the team in 2023 when his play and personality as an undrafted rookie free agent created ‘Devito-Mania’, Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Monday.
“After evaluating a bunch of things and looking at a lot of tape, and being around Tommy last year where he created a little bit of a spark for us, that’s the reason why we’re going with Tommy,” Daboll said when he confirmed the quarterback switch...
New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll officially announced the team’s intention to make a change at quarterback going forward on Monday during a Zoom conference call.
Daniel Jones will no longer be the starter and has been relegated all the way down the depth chart to the No. 3 spot.
Drew Lock will remain the primary backup while third-stringer Tommy DeVito, who hasn’t played a snap since the preseason, has been elevated to the starting role beginning this Sunday at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The changes may not end there. Daboll intimated that there could be more...
The Daniel Jones era in New York has reached its end.
After five and a half seasons of pretending that Jones was their answer at quarterback, the Giants finally cut the cord on their 2019 first-round pick, benching him for the remainder of the season.
Since the Giants have an “out” in Jones’ $160 million contract after this season, his tenure with the team is effectively over.
Jones was selected sixth overall out of Duke in the 2019 NFL draft. After a promising rookie season in which he threw 24 touchdowns in 12 starts, Jones fell off a cliff and...
Ed and Tony discuss the move
Daniel Jones is out as New York Giants quarterback. Tommy DeVito is in. Ed Valentine and Tony DelGenio took to YouTube to discuss the move on Monday morning.

The Giants lose three draft spots over their bye week
The New York Giants currently hold the fifth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, per Tankathon. While they still have a top-5 pick, it's a drop from the second overall selection they held after their 20-17 overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 10.
The Giants weren’t on the field for Week 11, but it was still potentially consequential for them. We’ve since learned that the team has benched quarterback Daniel Jones, and will start 2023 UDFA Tommy DeVito in his place.
The decision to bench Jones, the...
When he met with reporters during the team’s bye week, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen insisted any personnel moves ahead of a Week 12 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be “football decisions.”
“We’re going to evaluate everything the rest of the week and the decisions we make will be football decisions,” Schoen said. “Any decisions we make moving forward as we evaluate the roster and what we’re doing for the final seven games will be football decisions.
“We have seven games left in this season and that’s what we’re focused on. I’m focused on 2024 and...
Things have become so sad and miserable for the New York Giants that they somehow managed to lose during their bye week.
No, the Giants obviously didn’t drop a game during their short hiatus, but they did see their 2025 NFL draft stock worsen a bit. That’s because many of the teams they needed to win (or lose) did the exact opposite, costing them three spots. At least for now.
With the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and Las Vegas Raiders all falling flat and taking a loss, the Giants dropped from the No. 2 overall pick to the...
The biggest question facing the New York Giants coming back from their bye week was the status of starting quarterback Daniel Jones.
The 2-8 Giants wasted no time on Monday morning, leaking the news that Jones will no longer be their starter, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
