Giants fall late to Packers despite gritty effort in 27–20 loss at MetLife
The New York Giants put together one of their gutsiest performances of the season, but it still wasn’t enough. A late touchdown by Jordan Love pushed the Green Bay Packers past New York 27–20 on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium, handing the Giants their fifth straight loss and dropping them to 2–9.
New York briefly grabbed momentum late in the fourth quarter when Jameis Winston, starting in place of the injured Jaxson Dart, powered in a 1-yard rushing touchdown to cap a marathon 15-play, 85-yard drive. It...

The 2-8 New York Giants and 5-3-1 Green Bay Packers will both seek to end losing streaks when they meet Sunday at MetLife Stadium at 1 p.m. ET. The Giants have lost four straight, resulting in the firing of Brian Daboll and the installation of Mike Kafka as interim head coach. The Packers, with Super Bowl aspirations after...

The New York Giants will be without quarterback Jaxson Dart, wide receiver Darius Slayton and three defensive starters — edge defender Kayvon Thibodeaux, defensive tackle Rakeem Nunez-Roches and safety Tyler Nubin on Sunday afternoon against the Green Bay Packers.
Jameis Winston will make his first start for the Giants with Dart (concussion) sidelined. Newly-resigned Isaiah Hodgins and Jalin Hyatt will likely split time at wide receiver in place of Slayton.
Thibodeaux’s absence likely means a higher percentage of defensive snaps for both Brian Burns and Abdul Carter. The absence of Nunez-Roches might be one reason the Giants elevated defensive tackle...

The New York Giants (2–8) return to MetLife Stadium this Sunday for a Week 11 matchup against the Green Bay Packers (5-3-1). This will mark Mike Kafka’s first game as interim head coach.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on FOX as the Giants aim to pick up a home win in their 65th all-time meeting with Green Bay. The Packers lead the series, 34-28-2, though the Giants hold a narrow 17-16-2 edge at home.
The teams last met in Week 14 of the 2023 season, when the Giants edged out a 24-22 victory at MetLife Stadium on a...

The New York Giants on Saturday placed offensive lineman Evan Neal, who has never played up to his status as the No. 7 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, on Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury. Neal had been active for just one game this season and had not played a snap.
This move could well end Neal’s career with the Giants.
In his place, the Giants signed placekicker Younghoe Koo to the 53-man roster. Koo made his Giants’ debut last week in place of Graham Gano, who is on IR with a herniated disc in his neck. Koo...

The New York Giants are once again searching for a new head coach, their fifth full-time head coach since letting Tom Coughlin go in 2015.
Since that time, the Giants have been through full-time head coaches Ben McAdoo, Pat Shurmur, Joe Judge and now Brian Daboll. They have had interim head coaches Steve Spagnuolo for four games replacing McAdoo in 2017 and now Mike Kafka taking over for Daboll.
Can Kafka, getting his first opportunity to be a head coach after interviewing for several open jobs the past three offseasons, earn the job? Will the Giants look for an experienced...

It came as a surprise when New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll was fired after the Giants 24-20 loss to the Chicago Bears.
But after a bit of reflection, it wasn’t an unwelcome surprise.
An overwhelming majority of Giants fans agree that it was the right move to dismiss Daboll after the team’s third 2-8 start in three consecutive years. There may have been some hope that the Giants could turn things around — or at least that Daboll’s relationship with Jaxson Dart was a net positive — before the Giants 4th quarter collapse to the Bears. But yet...

It has been a long while since we have looked at the New York Giants to see how much injuries and other roster decisions have impacted the 53-man roster. With Mike Kafka now interim head coach in place of Brian Daboll, this feels like a good time to do that.
Two things about the offense:

Good morning New York Giants fans! Happy Saturday and welcome to Week 12 of the 2025 college football season.
This is our first Saturday with the knowledge that the Giants will look different in 2026. We don’t know exactly how different or what will change, but we do know that change is coming now that Brian Daboll is the Giants’ former head coach.
There are a few real holes on the Giants roster, most notably at wide receiver, linebacker, and right guard. There may also be needs at offensive tackle, cornerback, defensive tackle, and safety, but those really depend on...

If Mike Kafka is going to earn the full-time — I won’t say “permament” because nothing is permanent in the NFL — he needs to win some games over the next seven weeks. More importantly, perhaps, he will need to show Giants’ ownership that he can lead a full team while setting standards and demonstrating that he can and will hold players to them.
Among the things that got Brian Daboll fired, an inability to hold players accountable was perhaps at the root of everything. The Giants have seemed like a say what you want, do what you want, play...

Seth Weissman asks: 1. Whose decision was it to fire Daboll: Schoen’s or Mara’s?
2. (a) Why do you think Bowen was retained? (b) Do you think he’ll be gone at the end of the season when they Giants select a new head coach?
Ed says: Seth, it was clear from their statement that this was an ownership decision. Whether Joe Schoen made an effort to change the mind of John Mara and Steve Tisch I don’t know.
Why was Bowen retained? Only an educated guess here. Defensive players really do not know Mike Kafka. Before now they only knew...

A flirtation with the idea of Bill Belichik becoming the next full-time head coach of the New York Giants is over before it ever really started. Belichick on Friday night took himself out of the running to replace Brian Daboll.
“I have not and will not pursue any NFL head coaching vacancies,” Belichick said in a statement posted on Instagram.
Belichick won six Super Bowls as head coach of the New England Patriots before being dismissed after the 2023 season.
He won two Super Bowls, 1986 and 1990, with the Giants as defensive coordinator under Bill Parcells.
