Once upon a time people from all across the internet would pick up their sword and debate the status/ranking/merits of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. This was equally true for his predecessor, Tony Romo. Wearing the Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Crown is not for the faint of heart.
Prescott is going on his eleventh season in the role which means there are a decade of arguments in the past. But whether it be the passage of time, or an acceptance of his place within NFL quarterback hierarchy, those fiery debates don’t seem as intense as they once were.

Since the league moved to a 14-team playoff format in 2021, seven new teams made the playoffs twice (2021 and 2022), six new teams made the playoffs twice (2023 and 2025), and four teams once (2024). Under the old 12-team playoff format installed in 1990, an average of about six new teams made the playoffs every year.
This long history of churn among NFL playoff teams means it’s highly probable that about half teams that made the playoffs in 2025 will miss the playoffs in 2026.
Last season, four NFC playoff teams changed versus 2024. The Packers, Rams and Eagles...

It is all fun when you can stay on the field and be productive, isn’t it? Well, even doing that and posting a career high in rushing yards (1,201) and touchdowns (11) wasn’t enough for folks to think he is a top back in this league again, and folks should disagree.
In an ESPN piece, scouts, coaches, and executives rank the top 10 running backs in football right now.
Per the article, Voters gave their own top 10 players at a position, then they compiled the results and ranked candidates based on the number of top-10 votes.

Lately the folks at ESPN have been putting together rankings of various position groups across the NFL. This is an exercise they started doing over the last few years, and the idea is that the rankings are built through their sourcing of league executives, coaches, and scouts. Basically this is supposed to be a snapshot of how the NFL is viewed at this moment by people who influence it.
To date the Cowboys have had some appearances. Jake Ferguson, Javonte Williams, and DaRon Bland received some mild kudos at their positions, but Quinnen Williams was the highest ranked so far...

Who stands between Downs and hardware his rookie season?
Notably, those guys are both true corners playing on the outside; Downs will be playing in the nickel this season for Dallas, but it is genuinely rare for a safety/secondary Swiss Army Knife to win this award.
The good news is that Downs is a genuinely rare player, so the past may not matter in his case, and the following players will have to overcome that to win it themselves....

I averaged the Dallas Cowboys Madden ratings by unit and compared the full roster with the projected starters. I think the gap says plenty about this team.
The Cowboys landed at 81 overall in Madden 27, which is just enough to start an argument.
Some fans might say EA missed badly on this ranking, but when others point out last season, they might consider the rating generous. I wanted to get past all that and see what the roster actually looked like once the numbers were broken down.
I averaged every player on offense, defense, and special teams. I ran...
The Dallas Cowboys have an extremely talented offense. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who disagrees with that idea.
Getting people to agree why the offense is so good might be challenging, though. Obviously the quarterback deserves a lot of credit, but Dak Prescott can be a divisive subject for some. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens present one of the top wide receiver duos in the league and it feels like this is where most people would assign the credit. Javonte Williams is a fine running back, but he is hardly one of the best in the NFL....

Ahead of his 11th season, Dak Prescott is Dallas’ longest-tenured player on the current roster. Though still a bit behind Jason Witten and L.P. Ladouceur for the all-time mark of 16 seasons, Prescott is far more concerned with a different goal. Like all Cowboys fans, his focus is on joining Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman as the only quarterbacks to bring Super Bowl wins to the franchise.
Years in NFL: 10
Acquired by: 2016 4th-round pick
Few NFL players have a more well-known story. Prescott was a mid-range QB prospect in 2016, seen as a developmental project at...

*It is Day 63 of our 100-day countdown to kickoff. We are looking back at the 100 most iconic games in Dallas Cowboys history. The countdown will leads us right up to the opening game of 2026. Our look back doesn’t depend on just one criteria for our rankings. We take into consideration things like how big the game was for the organization, how memorable the game was, games that had unusual events take place, games that are a part of NFL lore, Cowboys firsts, and games where the Cowboys just plain dominated. Variety is the spice of life and...

Coming off the 2025 season where they were arguably one of the worst, if not the worst, defensive units in the entire league, the Dallas Cowboys has spent the offseason focusing the majority of their attention on improving their defense. From the hiring of new defensive coordinator Christian Parker and his coaching staff to the trades, free agents, and draft picks they’ve added to the roster, defensively things are looking up for the Cowboys in 2026.
While we’re all looking forward to seeing what all of the new faces can add to Dallas’ defense this upcoming season, there’s plenty of...

Back in April, the Dallas Cowboys somehow landed Ohio State superstar Caleb Downs. It was the most excited many of us had been about something related to the team in a very long time, and every day we get closer to seeing him on the field.
One of the aspects of Downs’s inaugural season is his inevitable push for the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
The only Cowboy to win it was Micah Parsons in 2021, so fans are definitely ready for a bit of a palate cleanser to get that out of our collective mind. Downs has...
The overriding narrative for the Dallas Cowboys this offseason is that they have to fix their defense. The offense is contender-worthy, but that won’t get you very far if the defense makes every opposing offense also look contender-worthy.
To that end, the Cowboys overhauled almost everything on that side of the ball. New defensive coordinator in Christian Parker, new scheme in a hybrid 3-4 base. New players, new coaching staff.
But one problem must be solved on the field. That is getting turnovers. Last year the Cowboys were -9 in turnover margin, tied for the third-worst margin in the league....
