Dallas Cowboys vs. Baltimore Ravens third quarter recap: Offense begins to sort of find itself

Dallas Cowboys vs. Baltimore Ravens third quarter recap: Offense begins to sort of find itself

Third Quarter

The Cowboys began with the ball and, you are going to be shocked, punted after three plays. So it goes.

Fortunately for them the Ravens could not make much happen once they got their hands on the ball and booted it right back.

Joe Milton found himself a bit on the next possession and a big reason was a 49-yard completion to Jonathan Mingo. Yes, for real.

Unfortunately a Ryan Flournoy penalty somewhat stalled the drive and the Cowboys had to settle for a field goal to make it 18-10.

All told the Ravens got down into...

Dallas Cowboys vs. Baltimore Ravens second quarter recap: Offense struggling at halftime

Second Quarter

The Ravens held the ball when the quarter began and put together another long drive.

This time Baltimore only needed 13 plays, but the result was a Cooper Rush pass for a touchdown like the game’s most recent possession. This one was for his actual team, though.

The Cowboys took over and had barely been an offense to this point what with their own issues and the pick six. They began to move things a bit and look a little comfortable and the virtual measurement system for first downs even showed its face which was fun.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Baltimore Ravens first quarter recap: Andrew Booth has a pick six!

The Baltimore Ravens won the opening coin toss and chose to receive. That is life in the preseason.

While old friend Cooper Rush completed his first pass for a first down, things became more difficult for him after that. The Cowboys defensive front began to swarm Rush a bit and kept him on his toes for three straight plays which forced a Baltimore punt.

Unfortunately matters went even worse for the Cowboys when they took over. The first play was a hand off to Miles Sanders for a gain of a yard and then he lost five on the next...

3 Storylines to look for vs. the Ravens

3 Storylines to look for vs. the Ravens

After a so-so performance against the Los Angeles Rams, the Dallas Cowboys look to pick up their first win of the preseason and head coach Brian Schottenheimer’s first as an NFL coach. The Cowboys’ offense struggled to maintain consistency in the passing game, as quarterback Joe Milton had several misfires on the evening before finding his groove late in the contest. The Dallas running game was also lifeless for much of the contest.

Thankfully, Milton returned to practice this week after leaving the game with what was diagnosed as a bruised elbow. All wasn’t lost against the Rams either. Undrafted...

Report: Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb will not be fined for official running into him

Report: Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb will not be fined for official running into him

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was run into by an official last week during the team’s first preseason game of the year. It was reported on Saturday that he will not be fined as a result of the infraction.

To be clear, Lamb was improperly standing in the official’s way when the collision occurred. It sounds preposterous to say that he could have been fined for an official running into him, but by the letter of the law Lamb was in the wrong. While it is nice to see that he will not be fined the most important thing...

Cooper Rush returns as Cowboys still evaluating his replacement

Cooper Rush returns as Cowboys still evaluating his replacement

If you’re looking for good stories in a preseason game, Cooper Rush’s return to Dallas works. Now the primary backup quarterback in Baltimore, Rush will be starting Saturday night in the place where he held that same job for most of the last eight years. Coincidentally, when Rush is on the sideline, he’ll be watching the Cowboys’ new QB reserves audition for his previous job.

If Rush were still a Cowboy, he’d be one of the team’s longest-tenured players behind Dak Prescott. An undrafted free agent in 2017, Rush became QB2 midway through his rookie year and remained such until...

Defining signs of progress for Cowboys in preseason Wk2 vs. Ravens

For the first time in the Brian Schottenheimer era, the Dallas Cowboys will play a game inside AT&T Stadium this Saturday. It may be just the second of three preseason games, with many of the players expected to make the winning difference on real gamedays still sidelined, but Saturday night against the Baltimore Ravens is still an important box to be checked nonetheless. The Cowboys preseason week one loss to the Rams left a lot of fans feeling like they’ve seen that team on the field before when it came to recurring issues like penalties, run defense, and a lack...

3 most important Cowboys to watch against the Ravens tonight

3 most important Cowboys to watch against the Ravens tonight

We are hours away from Week 2 of the preseason, and there are a few key Cowboys to watch against the Baltimore Ravens tonight.

Everybody knows the inaugural game of the Brian Schottenheimer era didn’t go all too well; quarterback struggles, rough play calling, and a terrible defensive performance inflamed quite a few concerns.

It’s just August football, of course, but some things can and should be improved upon, and more than a few players need big weeks as the depth chart shakes out.

The jump from this game to the next is the biggest one of the preseason. Players...

3 Cowboys players who need to build upon their preseason success against Ravens

3 Cowboys players who need to build upon their preseason success against Ravens

It was somewhat surprising the number of players the Dallas Cowboys chose to sit in last week’s preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams, especially rookie first-round pick Tyler Booker. With so many important players watching from the sideline it made the game harder to watch, but what it did was give other backup players the chance to prove themselves.

In what turned out to be a pretty sloppy game, there were some individual performances that caught our eye. These standouts have further made their case to make it through the final cuts to make Dallas’ 53-man roster, but in...
