3 takeaways from Cowboys’ 31-13 loss vs. Ravens

For the second week in a row, a slow start doomed the Dallas Cowboys. The Baltimore Ravens got their running game going early, and the Cowboys had no answer for it. The Cowboys had chances to sustain drives and put points on the board, but a sluggish first half gave the Ravens a head start they wouldn’t yield. That said, there were flashes of good football despite another preseason loss and cause for concern after the defeat to Baltimore. Here are three major takeaways from the game.

Dallas Cowboys’ Linebackers Offer Rare Bright Spot in 2025

We will not see an increase in excitement after the Ravens brought a beatdown to Dallas in Week 2 of the preseason. What we should see, however, is some appreciation for what the Cowboys’ linebackers will bring to the 2025 season.

Having previously been a weak spot on the roster for years, this linebacking corps has made a sharp turnaround, and we saw proof of that last night.

From the rookies to some savvy veterans, the middle line of defense stood out amidst a poor offensive performance and a reckoning of the Cowboys’ defensive line.

We’ll need to see more...

Cowboys’ edge rushers have yet to record a sack through two preseason games

Through two preseason games, the Dallas Cowboys defense has looked a bit discombobulated. Similar to 2024, the Cowboys defense has struggled to stop the run, but with DaRon Bland and Trevon Diggs on the sideline, slowing down the opposing team’s passing game has been just as much of a struggle. While the coverage unit is expected to have some issues, the lack of pass rush has been a concerning development for a team that has been rumored to have one of the better pass rush units in the National Football League.

With Micah Parsons still without a new deal and...

The Cowboys’ 2025 season hinges on 1 player: Dak Prescott

Through two preseason games, the Dallas Cowboys’ offense has looked nothing short of anemic.

While preseason is often a time for vanilla play-calling and experimental rotations, there should still be flashes of competence when a mix of starters and second-stringers are on the field.

Instead, the Cowboys have been lifeless, raising concerns about what this team would look like without Dak Prescott under center.

The reality is simple: if Prescott misses any significant time, the 2025 season could very well be lost.

Backup Dilemma

The Cowboys’ quarterback room behind Prescott is, to put it kindly, shaky.

Joe Milton, the...

10 thoughts on the Cowboys 31-13 preseason loss to the Ravens

The Dallas Cowboys played their second preseason game on Saturday, hosting the Baltimore Ravens. Similar to last week, they didn’t give fans much to be excited about, as they had issues on both sides of the ball. There were a few good things sprinkled into this underwhelming performance, and here are ten thoughts on the preseason loss to the Ravens.

  1. Another rough start

For the second straight week, the Cowboys’ offense went three-and-out on its first two drives, with one of them ending in a safety when quarterback Joe Milton was sacked in the end zone. It never...

Cowboys showed few signs of improvement in loss to Ravens

Cowboys showed few signs of improvement in loss to Ravens

We’re now two-thirds of the way through the Dallas Cowboys preseason schedule.

With 18 days to go until Dallas opens the season in Philadelphia, there are still far too many unanswered questions hanging over this team. On both sides of the ball at that.

The Cowboys fell 31-13 on Saturday night at home to the Baltimore Ravens.

The loss had far too many similarities to last weeks preseason-opening loss to the Rams.

That is the primary issue. It was hard to see where the Cowboys improved over the last week in real gameplay.

“They’re looking great on the practice field”...

Report: Cowboys fear WR Jonathan Mingo suffered PCL injury

Report: Cowboys fear WR Jonathan Mingo suffered PCL injury

The Dallas Cowboys reportedly fear that wide receiver Jonathan Mingo suffered a PCL injury in his right knee during Saturday’s preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. ESPN’s Todd Archer reported the news.

Archer notes that an MRI is set for Mingo for Sunday and obviously that will determine the exact severity of any hypothetical injury, but that this is the initial fear certainly isn’t good.

Mingo has played in both preseason games for the Cowboys to date and is somewhat challenging for the third and/or fourth wide receiver spots on the depth chart. A trade acquisition by the Cowboys at...

Andrew Booth has best moment with Cowboys at a critical time

Everyone’s favorite punching bag, cornerback Andrew Booth, finally punched back. Booth picked off a Cooper Rush pass early in the Cowboys’ preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens, returning it 40 yards for what wound up being Dallas’ only touchdown of the game.

Little went well for the Cowboys on Saturday night, and even Booth’s initial play wasn’t drawing praise. On the contrary, as was often the case last year, Booth was quickly targeted for criticism.

But what a difference a play makes!

Booth has had a rough go since the Cowboys dumped Nahshon Wright for him in a trade of...

Cowboys vs. Ravens Stock Report: Dallas offense goes cold

The Dallas Cowboys played a football game at AT&T Stadium on Saturday night and provided us with a lot of opportunities to evaluate and analyze them in different ways.

We are still talking about preseason football, but it is football nonetheless. The finalization of the 53-man roster (not to mention the season opener) is quickly approaching so these games are important sets of data to mine through.

In the name of doing that we have set our latest Stock Report to discuss which Cowboys improved or weakened their position on the team through the group’s latest outing.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Baltimore Ravens recap: Offense struggles yet again as Cowboys lose 31-13

The Dallas Cowboys made their AT&T Stadium debut on Saturday in the second week of the preseason. In a technical sense a game was played and the visiting Baltimore Ravens won, but obviously winning and losing in the preseason is inconsequential.

While that is the case there was still a lot left to be desired from the Cowboys throughout their performance on the night. Defensively they found their footing as things went along, but the offense clearly has a lot of work to do.

Below you will find a recap of the game no a quarter by quarter basis. Dallas...

Dallas Cowboys vs. Baltimore Ravens third quarter recap: Offense begins to sort of find itself

Third Quarter

The Cowboys began with the ball and, you are going to be shocked, punted after three plays. So it goes.

Fortunately for them the Ravens could not make much happen once they got their hands on the ball and booted it right back.

Joe Milton found himself a bit on the next possession and a big reason was a 49-yard completion to Jonathan Mingo. Yes, for real.

Unfortunately a Ryan Flournoy penalty somewhat stalled the drive and the Cowboys had to settle for a field goal to make it 18-10.

All told the Ravens got down into...
