Through eight games of the 2025 NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys look like two completely different football teams depending on where they line up.
Indoors and on turf, they’re explosive — scoring in bunches and dictating tempo. Outdoors and on grass, they’re ordinary, sometimes even fragile.
The numbers are as glaring as they are frustrating: 3-1-1 on turf, 0-3 on grass, 2-0-1 indoors, and 1–4 outdoors. This team was built for precision and speed — not mud, cold, and chaos. And that’s becoming an identity crisis Dallas can’t ignore.

The Dallas Cowboys have become extremly thin at the safety position.
The current state of affairs of the injured safeties in Dallas and their respective prognosis:
- Alijah Clark (ribs) – 1-2 weeks
- Juanyeh Thomas (migraines) – Undetermined
- Malik Hooker (toe) – IR
- Donovan Wilson (elbow/shoulder) – Undetermined
Thomas’ migraines are new to him, a fact he disclosed to me ahead of the trip to Denver, and he’s working desperately with the medical staff...

While the Philadelphia fan base is ready to crown the Eagles back-to-back NFC East and Super Bowl champions in 2025, the rest of the NFL world remains unconvinced.
At some point, the avalanche of breaks Philadelphia has been getting the last year and a half will turn against them.
Probably about the same time that the NFL instructs its officials to properly call the Tush Push. It’s bad enough all the false starts and offsides have gone uncalled.
What still might save the Eagles is just how woefully bad the rest of the NFC East really is.
Now [the officials...

Tuesday marked one week until the 2025 NFL trade deadline, and it is going to be interesting to see what the Dallas Cowboys choose to do (or not do for that matter). A topic of discussion as of late involving the upcoming deadline is wide receiver George Pickens.
The Cowboys acquired Pickens in the offseason for what was effectively their 2026 third-round pick. An argument could be made that the Pittsburgh Steelers feel some remorse about moving someone as talented as Pickens is proving once again to be, but the subject of remorse is sort of why we are chatting...

The Dallas Cowboys are projected to hold, barring any future trades, two first-round picks during the 2026 NFL Draft.
Dallas obviously has their own first-round pick, but thanks to the Micah Parsons trade struck with the Green Bay Packers just before the 2025 season began, the Cowboys also hold the Pack’s pick as well. Dallas also received Green Bay’s 2027 first-round pick and defensive tackle Kenny Clark in the deal.
As the 2025 season rolls on we will be tracking the Cowboys’ first-round picks and updating this post every week. It goes without saying that we want Green Bay’s pick...

The Dallas Cowboys fell to the Denver Broncos at Mile-High, but what did the rookie class do during the game that stood out? Check out how each rookie played in the defeat.
(Game stats- Snaps: 74, Pass Blocks: 46, Pressures: 1, Sacks: 0, Penalties: 0)
In pass protection, Booker’s technique did the heavy lifting. He managed to stay stubborn inside, kept a sturdy base, and refused to turn his shoulders when Zach Allen tried to use his power against him. The right side sorted most of the traffic on stunts and Booker absorbed the penetrator and...

The Dallas Cowboys are back at home this week and playing their final game before the bye. It is a primetime event for Dallas as they will host the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football, the first of two straight Monday night games (sandwiching the bye) that the Cowboys will play.
Last week was a rough one for the Cowboys as they were dominated by the Denver Broncos. The Cardinals were on their own bye week so should be well rested. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has a sterling record at AT&T Stadium through all levels of his football career (high...

We have reached the final single-digit week of the NFL season and things are moving so fast that you would think they are up against the Dallas Cowboys defense.
Obviously times are tough for America’s Team following their 44-24 drubbing at the hands of the Denver Broncos. The franchise still has yet to win consecutive games since Weeks 4 and 5 of the 2024 season.
Given their up and down nature, the Cowboys have moved around a lot in both our power rankings and those from across the internet. This week’s edition is no different.
Let’s get to it.

The Dallas Cowboys’ defense has been a major disappointment in their first season under new DC Matt Eberflus. What was once the team’s calling card has quickly turned into its biggest liability.
After trading away superstar EDGE Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys’ pass rush and overall intensity have taken a nosedive.
The unit currently ranks near the bottom of the league in both total defense and scoring defense, and opposing quarterbacks have enjoyed clean pockets week after week.
With the trade deadline fast approaching and sitting with a 3-4-1 record, Dallas could look for help to...

The Dallas Cowboys have a poor roster right now. It is one of the reasons why they are 3-4-1 through their first eight games of this season.
We can point the finger of blame in a number of directions. Matt Eberflus has overseen one of the worst defenses in franchise history to date. Brian Schottenheimer showed a gross misunderstanding of things this past week. Dak Prescott finally blinked on his stellar season. Jerry Jones is low-hanging fruit in these conversations.
One name that generally gets you shoved into a corner if you bring it up for criticism is Will McClay....

Matt Eberflus’ zone defense no longer fits the Cowboys. Here’s why it’s time for a change —and which assistant coach can bring back an aggressive man-defense.
The Dallas Cowboys’ defense has lost its identity under Matt Eberflus. His conservative, zone-heavy system keeps everything in front but gives up far too much underneath — letting quarterbacks find open receivers before the pass rush has a chance.
It’s a scheme built to minimize mistakes, not maximize talent. And in Dallas, that philosophy has backfired. The Cowboys’ young, fast defenders thrive when attacking, not...

Sunday’s Dallas Cowboys loss was embarrassing on a number of levels. The defense chose to not show up once more, and this time the offense couldn’t save them. It was a failure on just about every level and resulted in a score that made the Denver Broncos feel quite proud of themselves.
You are well aware that the Cowboys are one of the worst defenses in NFL history to date, but those types of statements sound like exaggeration and hyperbole. Thanks to the offerings of Stathead and Pro Football Reference we can prove these unfortunately-not-outlandish claims.
Here are this week’s...
