The Washington Commanders have missed out on adding a veteran wide receiver to their roster after they hosted the New York Giants for the season opener. Kendrick Bourne visited the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Commanders last week, but wasn’t going to sign with either team until after week 1. Adam Schefter is reporting that Bourne is returning to his former team, signing a 1-year deal with a max value of $5 million. GM Adam Peters was in the 49ers front office when Bourne was signed as an UDFA in 2017, but wasn’t able to get him to join...
The Commanders took on the Giants in their home and season opener and walked away with a 21-6 victory. As is usually the case in season openers, some things looked good, while others looked bad. Regardless of some sloppy play, the most important part is Washington started the season 1-0 against a division rival.
The Giants inept offense didn’t provide much of a test for the Commanders; however, they should be tested plenty on Thursday night against a tough Green Bay team on the road in Lambeau.
Below are my Studs and Duds of the game followed by some notes....
Washington Post (paywall)
It took one game for Samuel to show his dimensions, which could make life fun this year for offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.
[W]hat the Commanders — and by extension, Kingsbury, their offensive coordinator — now know they have is a newcomer who simply understands how to ball. On a day when the Giants limited McLaurin and Daniels turned elsewhere, no one was more involved than Samuel. He was targeted 10 times; no other Commander had more than five targets. He made...
The Washington Commanders defeated the New York Giants in their season opener yesterday, 21-6, cruising to a 1-0 start as they gear up for a short week two. In a game where, pre-game, the concern was centered around how both of Washington’s offensive and defensive lines would perform against New York, they took control on both sides of the ball yesterday. The offense rushed for 220 yards against the Giants, while the defense allowed just 74 rush yards, as quarterback Russell Wilson led the Giants with 44 yards. With Washington not allowing a touchdown against the Giants, this is the...
The goal of All aTwitter is to give readers a detailed or quirky look, through the unique lens of Twitter, at the Commanders, the NFL, and sports in general, along with a smattering of other things.
The Washington Commanders kicked off their second season of the Adam Peters/Dan Quinn/Jayden Daniels era with a division win over the New York Giants. They won 21-6, and were in control of the game the entire time. Washington’s defense was an issue last year, but they made several upgrades during the offseason, and didn’t allow a touchdown. Penalties were a problem, and that’s some of the sloppiness that Quinn and Daniels talked about after the game
The Commanders are now preparing for a short week where they have to travel to Green Bay to play the Packers on Thursday Night...
Week 1 is not over yet; we’ve got another great game to watch. The Baltimore Ravens are visiting the Buffalo Bills in a big AFC matchup that could get replayed in the playoffs. Both teams are looking to represent the conference in the Super Bowl, and they’re both always in the hunt. Bills QB Josh Allen was voted NFL MVP last season, with Ravens QB Lamar Jackson right behind him in the voting. The Bills are the home team, but the Ravens are favored in this one.
Matchup: Baltimore Ravens (0-0) at Buffalo Bills (0-0)

The Washington Commanders defeated the New York Giants 21-6, starting their season off with a 1-0 record and a division win. The score could have been a lot more lopsided, but penalties were an issue all day. Dan Quinn and Jayden Daniels both talked about cleaning up the mistakes, and being more efficient going forward. The defense was stout, not allowing a touchdown.
With the Eagles beating the Cowboys on Thursday night, the NFC East is already starting to segment into the haves and have nots. The winner of this game will be 1-0 in division play and one of 16 teams across the league to finish Week 1 with an unblemished overall record; the loser will be in a hole and its fan base is likely to go into a panic about the disastrous season that awaits.
Last year’s stats and accomplishments (or failures) mean nothing. It’s a new season and every team starts with a blank slate. Northwest Stadium is...
The Washington Commanders hosted the New York Giants for their season opener. There are four games on this afternoon, and Fox has two of them. Their first game is an NFC West game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks. The Niners are road favorites to open the season. The second game has this year’s No. 1 overall pick, QB Cam Ward, and the Tennessee Titans visiting Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos.
San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks, 4:05 p.m. ET
Tennessee Titans @ Denver Broncos, 4:05 p.m. ET
CBS also has two games...
The Washington Commanders first game of the 2025/26 season is finally here and it’s a home division game against the New York Giants. Washington swept them last season, and has the opportunity to get three wins in a row against the G-Men for the first time in 25 years. Not good, but this isn’t Dan Snyder’s Redskins, this is the team that Josh Harris bought, Adam Peters is recalibrating, Dan Quinn is leading, and Jayden Daniels is pushing to the top of the NFL for Year 2. Washington enters their Week 1 matchup as big home favorites, and they know...
