Commanders
1. Rare back-to-back road games to start the season.
The Commanders have benefited from starting the season at home for the last few years. Since 2020, they have had a home opener five times and won four of them, the most recent being...

The Washington Commanders 2026 schedule hasn’t been released for long, yet it has already been broken down every which way. That was certainly the case here at Hogs Haven, where Scott Jennings and I have been writing about it virtually non stop since the official NFL schedule release on Thursday evening.
That includes game-by-game predictions, trends and analysis of how the schedule could help or hurt the Commanders situation in 2026.
Now we’re on to the deep dive portion of the NFL schedule analysis, which happens after the analytics folks wrap their tech-savvy minds around it.
There have been some...

The Washington Commanders open the 2026 preseason with a home game against the Miami Dolphins. They will be hosting a joint practice with their first opponent of the preseason, something Dan Quinn has done the last two seasons.
That information was first reported by Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic on Thursday evening.
Washington had joint practices with the Jets in 2024, Quinn’s first season, and a practice with the AFC Champion New England Patriots last year. They were also supposed to have a joint practice with the Baltimore Ravens in 2025, but that was called off due to scheduling conflicts....

I don’t like to sugarcoat things. If something looks fantastic, I like to point it out. If something looks bad, I will bring that to the forefront.
In this series, “The Cold, Hard Truth,” I will give my analysis on various parts of the team in an effort to allow healthy discussions on the specific topics at hand.
In stark contrast to some of my previous cold, hard truth articles, this one should make most fans pretty happy!
On March 5, less than a week before the new league year officially started, I wrote this article stating that Washington...

Stop the run. That’s been the key for Washington when facing the Eagles over the previous two seasons. In his past four games against the Commanders (including the NFC Championship in January 2025),...

The NFL schedule release provides some structure to the Commanders 2026 season. We’ve known most of the details about opposition, strength of schedule and the expected wins that come with the offseason moves. Those are better indicators of how the Commanders will fare in 2026, though the schedule has some say.
That begs a simple question: Does Thursday’s Commanders schedule announcement make life easier or harder on Washington?
When applying some context, it most definitely has an impact. In which direction? That’ll depend on how the spring and summer goes. Oh, and health. Health is super, duper important.

The NFL schedule is now official and we know the who, what, where, and when for all 17 games the Washington Commanders will play this season. They start the season with two division road games which is not ideal. The season opener is against the Philadelphia Eagles who won the division last season, but immediately flamed out in the playoffs. Washington opened up as 4.5-point underdogs, but Week 1 games can be unpredictable with shortened preseasons, and big changes every offseason. Week 2 has the Commanders in Dallas to take on the Cowboys. Washington needs to at least split those...

The Commanders 2026 schedule has been released. The team made it officially official on Thursday evening, announced the requisite social media video that has become central to this NFL tentpole event.
Leaks had the schedule mapped out well beforehand, allowing us to digest Washington’s schedule without much rush.
It features four primetime games. A matchup with Indianapolis in London and just two other road trips outside the Eastern and Central Time Zones. Rivalry games with the Eagles and Cowboys, respectively, start the season. A decently-placed Week 7 bye sits near the halfway point.
Overall, the schedule seems fair in terms...

The Washington Commanders 2026-27 NFL season schedule has officially been released, so check your calendars, buy your tickets, book your travel, and get ready for the season to start…in September! There have been leaks over the last few days, but now we know the dates and times for most of the Commanders’ games. They are coming off a 5-12 season, but still got four primetime games and a “home” game in London. Jayden Daniels suffered multiple injuries, and will be looking to bring the team back to the 12-5 record from his rookie season. That all starts in Week 1...

The Washington Commanders are reportedly opening up the 2026-27 season with a road game against their division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. Jayden Daniels’ third NFL season starts with Washington as road underdogs against last season’s division winner. The Commanders are coming off a disappointing 5-12 season, while the Eagles were eliminated at home in the first round of the playoffs. Both teams have gone through big changes to their coaching staffs and rosters since the season ended.
Opening odds for the Commanders have them as 4.5-point underdogs against the Eagles in Philly, and the O/U opens at 47.5.

They could opt for someone not currently on the team — whether that’s waiting on Brandon Aiyuk, who isn’t yet available, or Stefon Diggs, who is free. Or they could opt for internal development, hoping that third-round rookie Antonio Williams...

The Commanders have made great efforts to upgrade the defensive front seven this offseason in free agency and the draft. Compared to the massive investment directed toward those position groups, relatively little was done to address the roster deficiencies in the secondary, and the cornerback room, in particular.
Prior to free agency, I published an analysis of the 2025 coverage stats which showed that, aside from the now departed Marshon Lattimore and rookie Trey Amos, the rest of the Commanders’ CBs gave up yardage in coverage at much higher rates than league average.
The worst performer of the group was...
