Riggo’s Rag
Throughout the offseason, most of the attention in Washington has been on star wide receiver Terry McLaurin. The second-team All-Pro finally got his high-priced contract extension after a dramatic standoff, and both sides are ready to move forward. Still, he’ll need to back it up by showing he hasn’t lost a step on the field.
There is also running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who became a quick fan-favorite over the offseason. He impressed throughout camps and preseason, with Washington even...
The Washington Commanders’ first game of the 2025/26 season is finally here and it’s a home division game against the New York Giants. Washington swept them last season, and has the opportunity to get three wins in a row against the G-Men for the first time in 25 years. Not good, but this isn’t Dan Snyder’s Redskins, this is the team that Josh Harris bought, Adam Peters is recalibrating, Dan Quinn is leading, and Jayden Daniels is pushing to the top of the NFL for Year 2. The Commanders enter their Week 1 matchup as big home favorites, and they...
In this week’s Reacts survey, we asked three questions.
Confidence
The first was the standard question about confidence in the team’s direction that we have been asking for years. An overwhelming 97% of survey respondents answered that they are, indeed, confident in the team’s direction.
When we asked this question ahead of the opening game of the 2024 season, just 43% of fans expressed confidence in the team’s direction. What a difference a year makes!
No doubt, last year’s 12-5 record and 2 playoff wins went a long way towards building up that confidence.
The confidence is reflected in...

The Washington Commanders are elevating C Michael Deiter and WR Chris Moore from the practice squad for tomorrow’s season opener against the New York Giants. The Commanders released their injury report yesterday, and didn’t have any players with injury designations. Head coach Dan Quinn said that everyone was good to go, and WR Noah Brown(knee) and CB Jonathan Jones(hamstring) both had vet rest days after being limited the rest of the week. Brown injured his knee during mandatory mini-camp, and didn’t play during the preseason. Washington only kept five receivers on their initial 53-man roster, and will now have six...
Washington Post (paywall)
Few analysts expect Washington to repeat last year’s run to the NFC championship, but Jayden Daniels receives some votes for MVP.
Before Thursday’s Eagles-Cowboys game, ESPN’s Football Power Index metric gave Washington a 28.7 percent chance to win the NFC East and a 54.3 percent chance to make the playoffs, with 9.1 projected wins.Seth Walder boldly predicts the Commanders, with an aging defense and a weak pash rush, will finish below .5oo. Bill Barnwell predicts Washington will [miss the...

The 2025 season kicked off last night with an NFC East battle between the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and the visiting Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles spit out a victory after a lightning delay fired CeeDee Lamb’s ability to catch a football. The second game of the season is also the first game of this year’s international series. The Kansas City Chiefs are “visiting” the Los Angeles Chargers for an important AFC Werst matchup. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are still recovering from their Super Bowl loss, and Justin Herbert and the Chargers are still trying to find a...
The Washington Commanders held their last, full practice today as they continue to prepare to host the New York Giants on Sunday. Dan Quinn spoke to reporters before practice and said everybody should be go to go for Week 1. WR Noah Brown(knee) and CB Jonathan Jones(hamstring) were the only players that didn’t practice today, but he said those were vet rest days. Both players were limited during the first two practices, but should be on the field Sunday. Brown suffered a knee injury at mandatory mini-camp in June, and has had a restricted offseason. Dorance Armstrong was also limited...
Dan Quinn spoke to the media before practice today. He started the presser by giving WR Santana Moss some praise as he prepares to get inducted into Washington’s Ring of Fame. He also named the team’s captains for Week 1. He will continue his practice of naming captains every week instead of the traditional season-long captains. QB Jayden Daniels, LB Bobby Wagner, and LB Jeremy Reaves were all very important to the team’s success last season, and they get highlighted for that in the first game.
Quinn gave an injury update before the team released today’s official injury report. He...
Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn doesn’t name team captains in the traditional way. Instead, Quinn named team captains before each week’s game last season, and he’s continuing that for Year 2. There also weren’t any captain’s Cs on jerseys.
We’ll be using game captains and I’ll also utilize a group of some leaders that will be kind of with me on some decisions that or emphasis that I wanna make with the team. But, we’ll pick game captains until the postseason and then we’ll pick post-season captains. That’ll be throughout.
Washington opens up their second season under Quinn...
We began a long journey together back on March 1st when we first heard about the Deebo Samuel trade. The roster building continued at a fast pace with another trade — this one for LT Laremy Tunsil. The Commanders were as active in free agency in 2025 as they had been in 2024 as Adam Peters tried to atone for the roster-building sins of Ron Rivera.
Despite having only 5 draft picks, Peters seemed to get maximum impact, with Washington’s 7th round pick being used on one of the most dynamic running backs in college football, the 4th round pick...
