The Denver Broncos are on a bye for the Wild Card round, but we’ve got some regular season stats to share. In fact, we’ve had so many that I’ll need to break this up into two posts. One for this week and one for next week.
Denver has a chance to face four of the six playoff teams next week: the Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills, or Los Angeles Chargers. We could know Denver’s opponent as early as Sunday if the Chargers or Bills win, but if both lose then we’ll find out Monday night.
Here’s what I’ve got...

While all the talk and attention this week has been on Broncos coaches interviewing for jobs around the league, the Broncos are still in the playoffs. They clinched the one seed on Sunday and are enjoying a much-deserved bye week before getting ready for the divisional round next weekend. The wildcard round, starting tomorrow, will decide which team will head to Mile High to take on the Broncos.
Due to the Broncos being the one seed, they will play the lowest remaining seed in the divisional round. They will play either the Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills, or Los...

According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, the Dallas Cowboys have requested permission to interview Denver Broncos assistant head coach/defensive pass game coordinator Jim Leonhard for their vacant defensive coordinator position.
The Dallas Cowboys’ defense was absolutely dreadful this past season (trading away Micah Parsons certainly did not help), and due to this, they fired defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus and are looking to revamp their defense this offseason. With them having an opening, they sent out requests to interview four coaches for their defensive coordinator position, which included Denver Broncos assistant head coach and defensive pass game coordinator Jim Leonhard.
Leonhard joined...

There were 1287 sacks in the NFL last season and the Denver Broncos offensive line only allowed 9 according to SISdatahub.com. Ben Powers and Luke Wattenberg allowed no sacks. Garett Bolles, Alex Forsyth, and Alex Palczewski allowed one sack. Quinn Meinerz allowed two sacks and Mike McGlinchey allowed four sacks. The other four offensive lineman who played a snap on offense did not allow a sack.
The team allowed 23, so 14 of the sacks were blamed on a player who does not play offensive line (QB, RB, or TE). FWIW Frank Crum is listed as a TE since he...

There is an old saying that tells us to save our best for last. Sadly, with my Week 18 picks that wasn’t the case. It was one of my worst outings of the season going 8-8. For the regular season I went 178-94 That’s right at 65-percent accuracy. That’s worse than last season by five percent, but not too shabby. Let’s see how I fare with my Wild Card Round picks.
Winner: Rams
The NFL Wild Card round kicks off with the Rams heading on the road to...

Good morning, Broncos Country. This weekend, a myriad of teams will be facing off against each other in epic gridiron battles for the 2026 NFL Wild Card Playoff round. And guess what? The Denver Broncos won’t be amongst them—given their tremendous 14-3 record and securing the #1 seed in the AFC playoff race.
With it being a bye week for the Broncos, I thought talking about appreciative aspects of the season would be apt. A little bit of reflection for us as fans before the rubber meets the road in the Divisional Round next weekend. Here are just a few...

Week 18 was the first time in about three months that Ben Powers took every rep at left guard. The Broncos handled his return from the IR well, having him split reps with Alex Palczewski the last couple of weeks before fully taking back his spot against Los Angeles. And since he returned to the field a couple of weeks ago, he’s been good. He’s had a handful of poor plays, some which have put his team into bad positions, including TFLs and sacks.
But this is to be expected when you’re knocking the rust off. The real question is...

One of the biggest reasons that the Denver Broncos have the #1 seed in the AFC and 14 wins under their belt is due to the way their defense operates.
This week, I’ve been really appreciating the opportunity to cheer for our team in home games in the playoffs. I think, like many fans in Broncos Country, the accomplishment shines bright after so many years of this team wandering in the desert.
This team has not only made the playoffs, but in a way dominated their season. 14 wins is a very tough number to achieve in the NFL.
So...

According to NFL Network league insider Tom Pelissero, the Las Vegas Raiders have requested permission to interview Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach/pass game coordinator Davis Webb for their vacant head coaching position. This is Webb’s first head coaching interview, but the talented young coach is viewed as an up-and-comer in the NFL.
The Raiders will now interview two key Denver Broncos coaches for their head coaching position.
Davis Webb is a former third-round selection by the New York Giants in the 2017 NFL Draft. He would play for the Giants, Jets, and Bills during his playing career before retiring after the...

According to ESPN’s lead NFL insider, Adam Schefter, Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph is expected to interview for the Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, and Tennessee Titans head coaching vacancies this week.
These will be virtual meetings for now, but the Broncos’ defensive coach has a busy week ahead while his team enjoys its one-seed bye week.
Both the Raiders and Cardinals fired their head coaches on Monday, while the Giants and Titans made their moves during the season. Joseph figures to be a strong candidate for all four of these jobs, and if he interviews...

Of the top 16 teams in points allowed (the top half of the league) 12 of them made the playoffs, but how do they compare in other defensive stats?
The Broncos, Seahawks and Texans have the three best overall defenses in the league and all three made the playoffs. I have argued that the Bronco and Seahawk defenses are the main reason that both teams got the #1 seed in their respective conferences.
The Bronco defense finished first in yards per play allowed at 4.46 while the Seahawks were a distant second at 4.56. The Texans, Eagles and Jags also...
