The Denver Broncos survived a signature “play down to your opponent’s level” moment in London this week.
This game was both bizarre and frustrating to watch. I want my lost sleep back after having to watch our offense flail around like a fish out of water.
What got lost for me until the end of the game was just how dominant the defense was (or maybe how bad the New York Jets are on offense…could be both). They put on an absolute clinic for the London fans on how to play smothering defense.
I’m ready any time for...
Any win is still a win. When the Denver Broncos beat the Jets by one point last season, it still counted as much toward getting into the playoffs as any other AFC win (outside of the West). The offense looked poor against a Jet defense that had been gouged a few times this season.
The New York Jets defense had allowed 27 or more points per game in their first five and yet the Broncos were only able to manage 13 points. As poor as the offense played, the defense played one of the best games I have ever seen...
If there is one thing NFL fans should know already — but definitely would have been reminded the past two weekends — is that all preseason notions of which teams will be good and which will not is almost 100% wrong every time.
The Broncos’ matchups have been a case in point — beating the undefeated Eagles one week, followed by narrowly escaping a loss to the winless Jets, or losing to a Colts team that few thought would be any good, much less 5-1.
And that’s exactly why this weekend’s game against the Giants...
The Denver Broncos darn near fell into the trap against the New York Jets, but their defense was able to rally and carry them to a 13-11 victory in London to move to 4-2 on the season. That defense really only gave up three points total as 8 of those points were gifted by the offense by turnover and safety or by the special teams giving up a 72-yard return. Even that legitimate field goal involves another 30+ yard special teams return, so overall the Broncos defense completely dominated.
The offense, on the other hand, left a lot to be...
We have another Monday Night Football doubleheader extravaganza! You know, the product no one wanted or asked for that the NFL thinks is just great. I like it when MNF is one game in prime time that is viewed by a national audience, but I am a bit old school. Maybe the new generation of fans love having two games on at the same time during ‘prime time’.
Either way, I really only dislike it when MY team is one that is playing concurrently with another NFL game. That isn’t happening today, so I should get off my soap box....
The Denver Broncos have been blessed with some great defensive units over the years. The Orange Crush obviously comes to mind. And who could forget the No-Fly Zone seasons coupled with the pass rushing duo of DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller that brought the franchise its last Super Bowl victory?
While this year’s team has a long way to go toward being a formidable Super Bowl contender, most of the early returns to date have been quite favorable for Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph and his players on the defensive side of the ball. What can be said about their incredible...
On Sunday, the Denver Broncos committed just 6 penalties for only 37-yards. Sometimes, the stat line doesn’t fully illustrate the bigger picture. These penalties are drive killers. They are the holding in the end zone that becomes the difference in the score late into the 3rd quarter. The leverage penalty that flips a win into a loss in an instant.
Overall, if you asked Broncos fans if the team was improved over years prior, no fan would disagree that things are better. The talent and execution have improved, but what about the discipline? Too often, big time plays called back...
The Denver Broncos offense completely disappeared after the first quarter, but their defense held on in London to move them to 4-2 on the season. They will be hosting the New York Giants in Week 7 and they better hope they find some offense next week or they could get into some trouble with this young team.
According to FanDuel, the Broncos are 7-point home favorites over the Giants in Week 7. The over/under stands at 40.5 for this matchup.

What a terrible offensive performance by the Denver Broncos. Imagine how more annoyed we would all be had their defensive not dominated to help them to a 13-1 win over the New York Jets in London on Sunday. Probably a lot more annoyed, but in the NFL all that matters is the win and the 4-2 Broncos got one in Week 6.
Due to the woeful offensive output, expect a whole lot of defensive-related game balls from our staff in this game. If it weren’t for a turnover, a long kickoff return, and a safety, the Jets would have only...
Well, that was an ugly one.
In the end, the Broncos survive and avoid being upset by the Jets, mostly due to their defense. It was an awful mix of poor play, penalties, turnovers, bad special teams play, Matt Peart, and just overall bad play by the offense. Thankfully, the Broncos’ defense remains legit and dominated this one and helped the Broncos advance to 4-2.
With all that said, here are your winners and losers from the Broncos’ 13-11 victory over the Jets.
The Jets had -10 passing yards
The Broncos’ defense had 9...
The Denver Broncos took on the New York Jets in an international affair across the pond in London. After four quarters, the Broncos were able to reign victorious and defeat the Jets 13-11 to earn their fourth win of the season. It wasn’t the prettiest game, but it was good enough to get the job done. Here are some instant reactions and miscellaneous thoughts from today’s game.
The Broncos won, but let’s talk about all the big issues from today’s game
Today’s game was emblematic of a problem the Broncos have had since the beginning of the season. While the...
The Denver Broncos were riding high from their big win last week and came to London where they fell into the trap against the winless New York Jets. They needed their defense to secure nine sacks and hold Justin Fields to nine completions to move to 4-2 on the season.
It’s not always pretty in the NFL and this one is as ugly as it gets.
Things didn’t start out well for the Broncos in this game. On what would have been the first first down of the game, Troy Franklin...
