The Denver Broncos finalized their 53-man roster at the 2 pm MT deadline yesterday. There were a few surprises, but that is always the case with these things. Next, we have the Broncos filling out their 16-man practice squad.
The practice squad rules are the same as last year. They can hold up to 16 players. 10 of those players will be players with two years or fewer seasons in the NFL. While the remaining six can go to NFL veterans who do not meet the qualifications under the old rules. So, we could see a few veterans signed back...
After several days of cuts and moves, the Denver Broncos have assembled their initial 53-man roster for the 2025 season. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see changes made over the next few days. However, for the most part, I expect the roster to be relatively set in stone leading up to the home opener versus the Tennessee Titans. Listed below is some analysis on this year’s squad. Feel free to share your opinions in the comments section.
Position group that is the strongest — Cornerback
When the best player on your team is the reigning Defensive Player of the...
The Denver Broncos have trimmed their roster down from 90 players to 53 with a few surprises mixed in. First, we saw Audric Estime, Damarri Mathis, and Blake Watson all get waived. These were anticipated cuts, but also ones that could have gone either way. After that, I didn’t expect any more surprises, but it was reported that the Broncos waived linebacker Levelle Bailey. Many assumed he would make the 53-man roster, but undrafted rookie Karene Reid made the team instead. Then, with only a few spots left to cut, it was announced that the Broncos had waived 7th round...
For a second straight year, former undrafted free agent Frank Crum has made the Denver Broncos’ 53-man roster. However, this time around, Crum was receiving some interest around the league. According to Head Coach Sean Payton, a total of three teams reached out to the Broncos about the availability of Crum.
This proves that if the Broncos did indeed waive Crum with the hopes of getting him on their practice squad that he would likely get claimed. Tackles are hard to find in the NFL, and when you have depth and upside, you do not let that leave the building....
The initial reports indicated that the Broncos placed fullback Michael Burton on the short-term injured reserve and that he was expected to return this season. However, 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis updated his report and stated that Burton was actually placed on the season-ending injured reserve list. Head Coach Sean Payton met with the media today and told reporters that Burton had surgery on his hamstring and will be out for the year.
This is a bit of an unexpected blow to the Broncos’ offense. Burton has served as the lead blocker for the past two seasons for the Broncos, and...
According to Nick Kosmider of The Athletic, the Denver Broncos have waived inside linebacker Jordan Turner. He was among several undrafted free agents Denver added at the inside linebacker position and the competition this summer has been fierce there.
Coming out of Michigan State, he totaled 66 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks and two interceptions. He and Levelle Bailey both looked like they should have been strong candidates to make the final 53-man roster. Our own Chris Hart was surprised that Turner didn’t hear his name called on draft day, so it shouldn’t be a surprise he...
According to Mike Klis of 9News, the Denver Broncos have waived center Joe Michalski. The undrafted rookie from Oklahoma State signed as a college free agent earlier this year and has competed for a backup interior line spot throughout training camp.
Michalski went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft following a six-year college career at Oklahoma State, where he was a battle-tested team captain for his last two seasons. He appeared in 59 games overall, having played at center and guard and was strong in run blocking and pass protection.
The Broncos are extremely weak at center. I’m not sure...
The Denver Broncos 2025 regular season kicks off on Sunday, September 7th when they host the Tennessee Titans. Fans across Broncos Country and even national analysts and pundits are bullish on this year’s squad. Heck, the Broncos are favored to make the playoffs for the first time in ages.
The playoffs would be nice, but do you know what would be even better? Dethroning the Kansas City Chiefs from their nine-year streak of AFC West Division titles. In order for them to accomplish that, several of their young players are going to need make a big leap this season. Here...
Good morning, Broncos Country!
Saturday’s preseason win over the Saints produced a few highlight-reel moments as Bo Nix and Courtland Sutton seemed to catch their stride by the third series.
But it was a minute before that starting offense looked like anything even close to the hype this team has gotten all offseason. And that felt like a very long minute.
It’s not that the offense looked terrible, but it was very underwhelming and pedestrian — partially by design, no doubt. But even with a ho-hum play sheet in place, the execution looked more like a high school team than...
According to Mike Klis of 9News, the Denver Broncos have waived offensive lineman Marques Cox. The Broncos signed Cox as a 2025 undrafted free agent and he has been with the team ever since.
Cox, 6-5, 305 pounds, played six seasons in college — four at Northern Illinois and two at Kentucky before going undrafted earlier this year. He had the college experience that should benefit his transition into the NFL, but it looks like he’ll need to prove himself on a team’s practice squad as a rookie. I tend to keep an eye on undrafted free agents that get...
ESPN’s Bill Barnwell wrote an article about 10 potential trades that could make sense for both teams in advance of the 2025 regular season. In this piece, he has the Denver Broncos shipping a former 4th-round selection to the Carolina Panthers.
Barnwell has the Denver Broncos trading away former fourth-round pick, cornerback Damarri Mathis, to the Carolina Panthers for a 7th round selection.
The Broncos have a rare problem among NFL teams: too many cornerbacks. ESPN’s Jeff Legwold projects they could move on from Mathis, who was very good as a rookie in 2022 before losing his starting job...
Now that all the preseason fun is over, the cuts are already trickling in. On Sunday, the Broncos released Clay Webb, Joshua Pickett, Micah Abraham, Joaquin Davis, and Andrew Farmer. Monday will certainly see more action as the Broncos march toward their goal of a 53-man roster by Tuesday at 2pm.
Although the first team offense struggled during the preseason at times, it can’t be denied that this Broncos squad is deeper than in year’s past. The Denver Broncos are no longer a team a team that has send their have-nots out there to play during the regular season. There...
