We run through another all linemen theme mock draft.
The 2025 NFL Draft will get underway in just four days, and there hasn’t been a consensus from league analysts about what the Chicago Bears could be doing with their first-round pick. Running back and tight end have picked up a lot of steam from insiders, but addressing the lines is still a likely option.
Even if the lines aren’t addressed first, the Bears are sure to draft a few big guys.
In this theme mock draft, I alternated picks in the trenches, starting with the offensive line. My theme mock...
Wide receivers, tight ends, and running backs garner attention in box scores and draft profiles. How hard is it, exactly, to find a star? What production is normal?
Offensive lines have one job to do, but what about the rest of the offensive players taken in the NFL Draft?
Ostensibly, each of these players has two jobs to do–they either directly acquire yards and subsequent first downs and scores or they help others do the same. However, the way NFL teams and fans of NFL teams view these positions is very different. One thing that needs to be...
How about an all linemen theme mock draft?
Many Chicago Bears fans expect them to draft in the trenches with their first pick, and considering the draft’s depth on both lines, I would love to see them come away with at least four linemen among their picks. The Bears may have addressed the big guys in free agency, but you can never have enough quality linemen.
In this theme mock draft, I stuck to the lines and alternated picks, starting with defense. Later this afternoon, I’ll share a similar exercise I did, starting on offense. Why a theme mock? It’s...
Taylor Doll talks with
Taylor Doll continues her “10th Pick and Beyond” NFL Draft podcast series by looking at prospects who could be in play for the Chicago Bears. On her latest Making Monsters on our 2nd City Gridiron channel, she’s joined by Jon Helmkamp, who covers the Oregon Ducks for Duck Sports Authority, which is part of the Rivals network.
They discussed several prospects that fit Chicago’s needs, including Josh Conerly Jr., Derrick Harmon, Jordan Burch, and Jamaree Caldwell. Jon also chats about some Ducks he believes are not being talked about enough.
Harmon’s versatility up front could endear...
Teams that build through the draft need to invest heavily in the offensive line to find quality players. So why don’t they do it more often? Also, what’s up with arm length?
Assessing how teams handle the offensive line in the draft can be an exercise in frustration, because at times it is one position that is drafted agnostically and at other times it is ultra-specific. Of the 399 drafted players for whom a college position was readily verifiable, 89 of them changed positions for at least a season in the NFL (22%), and that doesn’t even count the players...

We published the first round of our sixth annual WCG Member Chicago Bears Mock Draft contest on Sunday, and we had several quality mocks, but now it’s time for the Final Round!
I’ll share the top recommended mock drafts below. Carefully look them over and then vote for your favorite mock. The winner will have their name up in the virtual rafters at the Windy City Gridiron home...
The RB class is elite this year. Here are Bryan’s takes on the top ten, who he would compare their running styles to, and if he thinks they’re a fit for Chicago.
In what many are considering one of the greatest draft classes for running backs of all time, if not THE greatest, I have already caught slack for not including guys like DJ Giddens, Dylan Sampson, Damien Martinez, Brashard Smith, LeQuint Allen, etc., in this top 10. I get it. They are each studs and have a better-than-decent chance to make an impact...
Taylor Doll talks with Tony Catalina, Texas A&M beat reporter for the Austin American-Statesman.
On her latest Making Monsters podcast, Taylor Doll is joined by Tony Catalina, Texas A&M beat reporter for the Austin American-Statesman. They discuss the top Aggies available in the 2025 NFL Draft, including two players the Chicago Bears could be interested in: defensive ends Nic Scourton and Shemar Stewart.
The athletically gifted Stewart seemed to rank a little higher on most analysts’ boards, but Scourton has been getting more buzz of late. Either of these two would fill a need for the Bears at defensive end,...
Bears fans expect them to draft an offensive of defensive lineman with their first pick.
Earlier this week, we asked you guys to predict the first position the Chicago Bears would draft. Whether that’s at ten overall, earlier in a trade-up, or later in a trade-down, 67% of you are expecting general manager Ryan Poles to address the trenches.
When we initially ran the Reacts survey question on Tuesday, running back was the odds-on favorite position according to our partners at FanDuel Sportsbook. Those odds still favor running back as Chicago’s first drafted player, but tight end has jumped both...
Where to find stars, starters, and role-players in the NFL Draft.
Josh Sunderbruch initially published his draft research project three years ago, but now, with data for 10 draft classes under the rookie wage scale (2011-2020), and those 2020 draft picks having been in the league for five years, he wanted to revisit the project.
Here’s a quick summary of what this massive undertaking is all about.
He looked at 2500 players drafted over the first ten years of the rookie salary scale and modern collective bargaining agreement to study what actually happens in terms of finding stars, starters, and...
Some incredible pre-draft info from the NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah today.
Earlier today, NFL Network Analyst Daniel Jeremiah held his annual conference call previewing the upcoming NFL Draft, and he touched on several prospects, while discussing the direction several teams could take.
Before I share what Jeremiah said about the Chicago Bears, I’ll share some of his thoughts on a few players who have been linked and/or mocked to the Bears.
The New England Patriots pick fourth, and he believes that’s when the first offensive tackle would come off the board. Jeremiah said that he has “continually heard that that’s...
