About Fernando Mendoza not starting all season

About Fernando Mendoza not starting all season

A recent report by Ian Rapoport of NFL Media raised some eyebrows about the Las Vegas Raiders’ plan for rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza this season.

According to Rapoport, the team’s ideal plan for the No. 1 overall draft pick is to keep him on the shelf for his entire rookie season. Rapoport said the team would like to see Cousins, who was signed this offseason and who will turn 38 next month, play for the entire season.

The Raiders have yet to publicly say what their plan is other than saying they do, indeed, have a quarterback plan. Both Las...

What is Kool-Aid McKinstry’s ceiling?

There’s been much to love when it comes to Kool-Aid McKinstry. The Saints’ 2024 second-round pick out of Alabama has already proven to possess elite athleticism, durability, and instincts at the cornerback position.

In 17 games last season, McKinstry grabbed three interceptions, had a team-best 17 pass breakups, and managed 76 total tackles in a campaign that saw him make strides in his second year in the league.

McKinstry’s aggressive play did leave him susceptible at times to big plays, with opposing quarterbacks punishing him for eight touchdowns.

But entering another season with Brandon Staley as defensive coordinator, the former...

Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers Still Does What Young QBs Can’t

Aaron Rodgers isn’t in his prime anymore. That’s the bad news regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 42-year-old quarterback.

The good news? He can still sling the football with the best of them.

Rodgers threw for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions a season ago. Former Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens receiver Steve Smith Sr. remains impressed with the four-time Associated Press NFL MVP.

“Aaron Rodgers can still throw the football,” Smith said Friday. “I don’t think Aaron Rodgers — and he would say this, too — he’s not the Aaron Rodgers that we know took over in Green Bay. Young...

‘In Jeopardy’: DeFabo Explains How Carson Bruener Could Shake Up Steelers’ Roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers boast one of the deepest rosters they’ve had in years, but a handful of positions still carry significant question marks. The Pittsburgh Steelers will certainly look different when they take the field at St. Vincent College next week, with the first training camp under a new head coach since 2007.

Mike McCarthy is taking over from Mike Tomlin, and although the Steelers’ new boss is certainly familiar with the history of the team and the way it works, things are sure to be different.

How will they be different, what will be the benefits of those differences, and what are the potential downsides?

Alan Saunders joined Chris Carter on the Locked on Steelers podcast to discuss, along with the team...
