PITTSBURGH — Something big returned for the Pittsburgh Steelers defense in a bounce-back performance in a 27-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
The top-line return was that the Steelers snagged five defensive takeaways for the second time this season, looking once again like the unit that the Steelers hoped they had put together this offseason.
Those takeaways came as a direct result of pressure the team’s defensive front was able to put of Colts quarterback Daniel Jones. T.J Watt and Alex Highsmith each had strip sacks. Payton Wilson batted down a Jones pass in his face, leading to...
Leading up to the Week 9 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts at Acrisure Stadium, there was a lot of doom and gloom surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team was fresh off back-to-back awful performances defensively, had lost safety DeShon Elliott for an extended period of time, and seemingly had no answers on that side of […]

The Pittsburgh Steelers shocked a lot of people with their 27-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Mike Tomlin’s been able to get it done as a home underdog many times in the past, but things weren’t looking great after an incredibly poor performance against Green Bay the week prior. After not forcing a […]

Going into Sunday’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, people expected the Pittsburgh Steelers to have a rough go of it. The Colts were 7-1 and had one of the best offenses in the league. And the Steelers’ defense? Well, it had allowed 30+ points in back-to-back losses. But the Steelers stood tall against the Colts. […]

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s the performance of outside linebacker Alex Highsmith in the team’s 27-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Highsmith had four tackles, three for a loss, one sack, one quarterback hit and a pass defended in the victory — his best performance of the season. The noise has been loud over the past few weeks as Highsmith returned from injury and returned to his starting role, while...
In ugly losses in Weeks 7 and 8 to the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers, the Pittsburgh Steelers couldn’t stop anyone. They couldn’t cover, couldn’t tackle, and couldn’t communicate properly. That all changed on Sunday against the NFL’s best team in the Indianapolis Colts as the defense stood up and made a statement in […]

Weird is so much better in a win. – The Colts continue to struggle in Pittsburgh. Since 1970, the franchise is 1-14 when playing in Pittsburgh. The lone win came in 2008. – The Colts entered the game with four turnovers on the entire season (eight games). Indianapolis finished the game with six turnovers. – […]

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ recent losing skid made a big trade deadline deal less likely as they slowly slipped out of NFL relevance. But a big Week 9 win against the NFL’s top team injected new life into the season. Even after a win over the Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette insider Gerry Dulac doesn’t expect a […]

The Steelers went into this season talking a big game on defense, but until yesterday, they couldn’t cash the checks they’d been writing. While they had strings of splash plays, yesterday marked arguably their strongest effort. Considering the quality of opponent, players admit this was a statement game. What statement it made exactly depends on […]

The Miami Dolphins are reportedly willing to listen to trade offers for potential Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver trade target Jaylen Waddle after firing general manger Chris Grier last week, but they have a high price tag in mind.
According to a report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Dolphins are listening to offers for Waddle, but are looking for a haul in return for the 26-year-old wide receiver. Fowler reported that the Dolphins are looking for a first-round pick plus an additional asset in exchange for Waddle.
That will almost certainly be too high of an asking price for Steelers...
Hey Steelers Fans. Welcome to Victory Monday.
Some guys have a “type” and some girls have a “type” and the Pittsburgh Steelers clearly have a “type.” The 2025 version of the Black and Goal is fond of games where they turn the opponent over multiple times, sack and/or harass the quarterback and do just enough on offense. When they don’t do those things they don’t win. Yesterday, they did those things in beating the Indianapolis Colts 27-20. The Steelers forced six turnovers and sacked Daniel Jones five times. Aaron Rodgers was largely efficient going 25/35 for 203...
