Joey Porter Jr. Confirms Key Defensive Plan In Steelers Secondary

Joey Porter Jr. burst onto the scene by routinely shadowing opposing teams’ top receivers as a rookie, holding his own against some of the NFL’s best. The new defensive staff in Pittsburgh plans to continue letting corners travel. “I wouldn’t say nothing too crazy from what we’re used to,” Porter said when asked about changes […]

Nick Herbig Makes Odd NFL History With Steelers Extension

Nick Herbig Makes Odd NFL History With Steelers Extension

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Nick Herbig’s contract extension is the first of its kind in NFL history.

The Pittsburgh Steelers locked up outside linebacker Nick Herbig for the foreseeable future with a four-year, $100 million contract extension that includes $42 million in guaranteed money. However, while the deal seems to be well-deserved, it turns out it is quite unique.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Herbig is now believed to be the first non-quarterback to surpass $100 million without ever starting an entire season in his NFL career.

That is certainly an odd asterisk to go along with Herbig’s new deal,...

Kyle Van Noy Confident Patrick Graham Is Going To ‘Be Great’ With Steelers: ‘Got A Lot Of Ballers Over There’

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense was supposed to be one of the NFL’s best last year, but it fell well short of that goal. It was ranked 26th in the league, with several players looking like they lost a step. However, many of the Steelers’ struggles on defense were blamed on defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. With […]

Barnwell Thinks ‘There Will Be Teams Calling’ To Try To Trade For Alex Highsmith After Nick Herbig Extension

The Pittsburgh Steelers have given Nick Herbig a contract extension, locking him in for the next five years. Although he’s been a backup, that hasn’t been because of his abilities. Herbig has developed into a great pass rusher, posting 16 sacks and nine forced fumbles over his three NFL seasons. He’s just been stuck behind […]

‘I Applaud Him’: DeShon Elliott Appreciates Jalen Ramsey’s Versatility, Having ‘Another Dawg’ In Jaquan Brisker

Overall, there hasn’t been much change in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive personnel. But there will be some fresh faces in the safety room. DeShon Elliott is a big one, returning from a knee injury that sidelined him for much of the 2025 season. He’ll be playing with Jaquan Brisker for the first time, and he […]

Chris Long ‘Can’t Put’ Steelers’ Defensive Line Among NFL’s Best Because Of 2025 Struggles

When the Pittsburgh Steelers have been at their best, it’s usually been because of their defense. Specifically, their championship teams have been marked by an ability to get after the quarterback. The Steel Curtain defined the team in the 1970s, and other players like Joey Porter Sr. and James Harrison carried that torch in the […]

The Steelers are looking to add a replacement coach to Mike McCarthy’s staff

The Steelers are looking to add a replacement coach to Mike McCarthy’s staff

Last week, the Steelers unexpectedly announced the firing of senior special teams coach Derrius Swinton. The firing was later revealed to be a case of “workplace misconduct.” Swinton has been hired just several months prior to the new head coach, Mike McCarthy, expanding the Steelers coaching staff as a whole.

Whether the Steelers would pursue another special teams coach seemed to be a fair question, given that Danny Crossman is already an experienced special teams coach. However, McCarthy confirmed to reporters after the first day of mandatory minicamp practice on Tuesday that the team is already in the process of...
