Well, that’s not exactly the best final preseason game I’ve ever seen. The Seattle Seahawks spent the week in Green Bay, then decided to play their reserves against the Packers in their final tune up before the regular season, and it showed in a 20-7 defeat.

In a game that had nothing that was really supposed to happen, there ended up being a lot to discuss, so let’s break it down.

1st down: Thank goodness the preseason is over

It was less than 16 months ago when the Washington Commanders traded quarterback Sam Howell to the Seattle Seahawks in a pick swap.

The trade gave Hawks fans hopes of Howell potentially being the quarterback of the future after he had carved up Pete’s Carroll and Clint Hurtt’s defense to the tune of 312 yards and three touchdowns in Week 10 of the 2023 season.

Howell saw extremely limited action in 2024, though, spending the year backing up Geno Smith, before the Seahawks sent Howell to the Minnesota Vikings on the final day of the 2025 NFL Draft.

One notable absence from the Seattle Seahawks’ 20-7 preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers was second-year guard Christian Haynes. Having all but lost out on the starting right guard job to Anthony Bradford, there has been speculation as to whether or not the 2024 third-round pick will even make the regular season roster.

Speaking with reporters following the game, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald revealed that Haynes is dealing with a pec injury, with a timetable unknown as far as how long he’ll be out.

Seattle Seahawks preseason is over, and now the last major phase before regular season play begins is finally upon us.

The Seahawks enter Sunday with 91 players on the active roster. That number needs to be trimmed to 53 by Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 1 pm PT. After the waiver claims deadline passes at 9 am PT on Wednesday, Aug. 27, teams can start forming their practice squads, which has a 16-player limit with a 17th player permitted if they’re part of the International Player Pathway program).

Preseason has come and gone for the Seattle Seahawks, and now the clock starts on roster cuts. More than three dozen players will get the dreaded call from now until Tuesday afternoon, and we know that Tuesday is just the deadline to get to 53. The Seattle Seahawks’ 20-7 preseason loss against the Green Bay Packers might have been a clunker to watch, but the real worst moment of the game came late in the second quarter on a punt return.

Seahawks receiver Jake Bobo ran up and called for a fair catch on a short punt, clattering into defensive back Tyler Hall, who was blocked into Bobo. Within seconds of their loud collision, Bobo was sprawled out on the Lambeau Field turf.

Preseason football doesn’t really matter.

At least that’s what we tell ourselves when the Seattle Seahawks lose. Frankly, I wasn’t sure if the team actually bothered to show up for most of the game against the Green Bay Packers until the “Cody White drive,” where he caught a TD pass from Jalen Milroe to make the score 20-7.

There were more chances for Seattle, but they were allergic to the football today. It happens.

The Seattle Seahawks had by far their sloppiest, most disjointed performance of preseason against the Green Bay Packers, turning the ball over four times and going 2/13 on third downs in a 20-7 loss at Lambeau Field. I think we could’ve tolerated the typical preseason dysfunction if there also weren’t injury scares scattered throughout the game.

It was “final week of preseason” sloppiness at Lambeau Field, with the Seattle Seahawks (1-1-1) dropping their last exhibition game 20-7 to the Green Bay Packers (2-1). The story coming into the game was rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe starting and playing the entire way, with fans curious to see how he’d perform. There were more downs than ups, with Milroe losing three fumbles on the afternoon and taking five sacks.

The plus for Milroe was throwing his first NFL touchdown to Cody White, which prevented a shutout loss and gave Seattle a little something to cheer for. Milroe was 13/24...

Bad news, folks.

In the second quarter of Saturday’s preseason matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers, the Seahawks had two players come together in a devastating collision. While attempting to field a punt on special teams, Jake Bobo and Tyler Hall collided into one another, causing both players to leave the game.

According to John Boyle of Seahawks.com, Bobo was able to exit the field on his own as he headed towards the locker room. Hall was seen limping on the field, needing assistance from trainers to get to the sidelines.
