The National Football League and the league’s Referees Association have reached a new collective bargaining agreement that will maintain consistency with current officials on the gridiron each weekend and avoid the need for further “backup” referees. The current deal, which was set to expire on May 31, will be replaced by a new seven-year contract that runs through 2032.
The development of an officials “bench” is undoubtedly one of the more critical results of the new CBA. The reserve group of refs will be turned to in any instance it is deemed that current acting officials are underperforming in any...

For the past two years, since starting with Canal Street Chronicles, I have chosen one rookie among the New Orleans Saints UDFA class that I believe can become a real impact player. I first selected CB Rico Payton, and he became one of the best special teams players on the team, and RB Marcus Yarns, but that one was a miss.
This process is always going to be a bit of a long shot, since UDFAs are UDFAs for a reason, but the Saints have a good history of finding gems after the draft. For me, this year’s group has...

Just prior to the start of rookie mini camp, the New Orleans Saints have announced that seven of their eight draft picks are now under contract.
WR Jordyn Tyson, TE Oscar Delp, Guard Jeremiah Wright, WR Bryce Lance, Safety Lorenzo Styles Jr., WR Barion Brown and CB T.J. Hall have all signed their rookie deals with just DL Christen Miller remaining as 2nd round picks tend to take a little longer.

Saints rookie minicamp is officially upon us. The smell of football is wafting through the fresh, rain-soaked air of New Orleans. As fans embrace the excitement of a return to a season of hope, there is a buzz around the Saints because there is a lot that is new.
The Saints made significant strides in improving the roster this offseason, but there are still opportunities for roles to be claimed. The front office also did an impressive job of bringing in talent through Undrafted Free Agents.
Today, let’s take a look at a couple of guys who have the potential...

On Thursday, the Indianapolis Colts honored veteran cornerback Kenny Moore II’s request to be released. Should the New Orleans Saints be suitors?
Since Moore originally made a trade request, the Saints have been rumored as potential suitors. While New Orleans already added to their cornerback room after the draft, signing Martin Emerson Jr, Moore is a slot cornerback and would fill an immediate need.
During the 2025 NFL season, Alontae Taylor took over slot duties while Quincy Riley and Kool-Aid McKinstry played on the boundary. When asked about his role with the Saints, Martin described most conversations putting him at...

It feels like the NFL Draft was just yesterday, but somehow, New Orleans Saints football is already back. On May 8th, rookie minicamp will begin, and it should be an exciting one. The Saints just had a successful draft on paper, and the class is larger, finishing with 8 selections. Adding a UDFA group that has some potential gems sprinkled throughout to the entire 2026 draft process, there are going to be storylines coming out of the rookie minicamp that could affect the regular season.
Here are some I am paying attention to or hoping to see:
Jordyn Tyson’s health...

The New Orleans Saints announced that veteran place kicker and former Pro Bowler (2020) Younghoe Koo will try out at the team’s upcoming rookie minicamp.
The 31-year-old former undrafted free agent of the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017 spent one season with the Bolts before heading to the arch-rival Atlanta Falcons for a six-and-a-half-year tenure, before joining the New York Giants for the final half of the 2025 season.
Koo went 13 of 14 on extra points (92.9%) last season with both Atlanta and the New York Giants, while going six of nine on field goal attempts (66.7%)—one from 40–49...

New additions could be difference makers for the Saints.
Only a day away from rookie minicamp!
Would have been a shocking move for the Saints.

Since the 2026 NFL Draft has concluded, most of the headlines have been surrounding the weapons that the New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and staff have been assembling to put around QB Tyler Shough. But let’s not overlook the fact that the Brandon Staley’s defense has been getting some attention as well.
It may not be flashy positions or major-name additions at cornerback or edge rusher, but the focus is there—the approach is just a little different. The Saints are prioritizing stopping the run and reinforcing the interior defensive front, which has been a glaring weakness in recent...
