Rams-Eagles player review: When will offense spread it around?

Rams-Eagles player review: When will offense spread it around?

In a a tale of two halves, the Los Angeles Rams snatched defeat from the jaws of victory Sunday, losing to the home-team Philadelphia Eagles 33-26. L.A. had two 4th quarter field goals blocked, either of which would have provided a margin for victory. To add insult to injury, the second swat was picked up by a 330 lineman and returned for at touch down at the final gun.

Who to blame? Plenty to go around in a devastating loss. Let go position-by-position.

Quarterback

Matthew Stafford went all the way (66, 100%) and again suffered too many hits. While he...

10 takeaways after Rams deflating loss to Eagles

10 takeaways after Rams deflating loss to Eagles

The Los Angeles Rams suffered their first loss of the season in Week 3, falling to the Philadelphia Eagles 33-26. It’s a game that the Rams probably should have won after leading 26-7 in the third quarter and then having an opportunity at a game-winning field goal on the final play. This is arguably one of the more disappointing losses under head coach Sean McVay. Here are this week’s takeaways.

  1. Rams offense came out buzzing

For the entire first half, it looked as if Rams head coach Sean McVay had put defensive coordinator Vic Fangio through a blender....

Good, bad and ugly: Did Rams lose it or Eagles win it?

Good, bad and ugly: Did Rams lose it or Eagles win it?

The Los Angeles Rams dropped to 2-1 after epically failing to put away the Philadelphia Eagles in the second half. There’s some staggering ugliness to rehash from the Rams’ missed opportunity, so let’s just get into it before I chuck something at my TV again.

The Good

The first half defense was historic

Aside from Jalen Hurts scoring on a 1-yard touchdown run roughly halfway through the first quarter, the reigning Super Bowl champs were held in check before halftime.

The Eagles’ passing game was held to -1 net passing yards in the first half, which was the...

Random Ramsdom: You feel better or worse after Sunday’s loss?

Random Ramsdom: You feel better or worse after Sunday’s loss?

How are you feeling after Sunday’s shocking outcome? On the one hand, the Los Angeles Rams showed up to play the Philadelphia Eagles, and when they were leading 26-7, they looked like maybe the best team in the NFC, on the other hand, the Rams imploded after looking superb for the better part of two quarters.

So, after seeing how good the Rams can be, and how bad they can be as well, are you encouraged or discouraged? Do you expect the Rams to bounce back, or is this the start of what could be a tough stretch?

Do we...

Did the Rams have a bad offseason? Who is to blame?

Did the Rams have a bad offseason? Who is to blame?

Beaux Limmer was the darling of the Rams day three draft picks in 2024, but he’s the scapegoat in Week 3’s loss to the Eagles. Due to a series of injuries at guard for L.A.‘s offensive line, Limmer has found himself in position to be a key interior presence on the Rams early in the season but unlike when he started 14 games as a rookie these snaps have gone anything but ideal. Limmer has been taking a lot of heat on social media for his presence — or lack thereof — at right guard in place of Kevin Dotson....

NFL Week 4 Odds: Rams open as underdogs at home against Colts

NFL Week 4 Odds: Rams open as underdogs at home against Colts

The Los Angeles Rams (2-1) are hosting the Indianpolis Colts (3-0) for Week 4 of the NFL season, and the opening odds, at least at FanDuel, favor the Colts by 3.5 points, and that’s meaningful as the Rams are home for this matchup, but they are the underdogs. That’s a little atypical at the NFL level where home teams are generally favored.

The over/under point total is is 47.5 as the oddsmakers must expect Matthew Stafford and Daniel Jones to put up some numbers on Sunday.

The last time these two teams faced-off, L.A. won in overtime as Puka Nacua...

Stafford moves into 9th all-time for career passing touchdowns

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford reached a career milestone hitting 60,000 passing yards against the Houston Texans Week 1. Now, just two weeks later, the Los Angeles quarterback is at it again, moving himself into ninth in all-time passing touchdowns.

During the third quarter of LA’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Stafford was able to hit Kyren Williams for a 10-yard touchdown that helped him push his career total to 382 TD passes, moving him past former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan. The veteran QB entered the game needing two touchdowns to reach the high benchmark.

Stafford, 37, is...

How was McVay feeling after brutal Rams’ loss?

How was McVay feeling after brutal Rams’ loss?

After the Los Angeles Rams choked away their double-digit lead to the Philadelphia Eagles, I needed to lay down, after some rest, and grasping with reality, I had to see what Sean McVay had to say after the brutal defeat, and he delivered a line for the ages, “These are the chances to be able to lean in and see what you’re really about.” said the head coach while reflecting on the hard loss, and knowing there is still the entire season ahead.

The Rams fell to 2-1 after Sunday’s game, and the fanbase may be disgusted, but McVay seems...

Rams upcoming schedule spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E

The Los Angeles Rams’ Week 3 loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles was heart breaking. They were in position to take the lead with seconds on the clock before Philly blocked Josh Karty’s field goal attempt.

The unfortunate truth is that the going won’t get easily for Los Angeles for some time. After falling to 2-1 on the season, they’ll face the better-than-expected Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens, and Jacksonville Jaguars over the next four games.

Is it time to worry about the Rams?

Winners & Losers: Matthew Stafford shoulders weak offensive outing

Winners & Losers: Matthew Stafford shoulders weak offensive outing

The Los Angeles Rams had the Philadelphia Eagles on the ropes in the first half before hitting a mental block in the second. Philadelphia comes away with a home win at 33-26. The Rams move to 2-1.

While Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and the Eagles offense could muster little production through two quarters, the final two told an entirely different story. Meanwhile, Philly made Los Angeles pay for their offensive red zone woes and a propensity to settle for field goals far too often.

The Rams had a chance to take the lead in the game’s final moments before the...

Rams-Eagles final score: OL loses control, loses the game

The Los Angeles Rams lost to the Philadelphia Eagles by a final score 33-26 after the Rams had a last second kick blocked, and after the Rams blew a 26-7 lead. The Rams didn’t look terrible for much of the game, but then something switched as the Eagles took control and ensured that L.A. has a long flight back home wondering what went wrong?

Matthew Stafford threw an interception on the opening drive which allowed Philly to take an early 7-0 lead with a Jalen Hurts rushing score, but after that mistake, the Rams controlled the game for two quarters...

Rams-Eagles second half game thread

The Los Angeles Rams lead the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 19-7 after the first half of play. Matthew Stafford threw an early interception which led to an easy Philly touchdown and lead, after that, the Rams responded well putting up 19 unanswered points, but they also stalled out in the red zone more than once, and settled for several field goals keeping the Eagles in the game.

It’s been a hard-fought game with L.A.’s defense suffocating Jalen Hurts and Saquan Barkley, but Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford absolutely would’ve like to put up more touchdowns than they did....
