It’s never been easier to become a Pro Bowl quarterback
Making the Pro Bowl as a quarterback has become as simple as landing a job — any starting job — in the NFC. Somehow this opportunity has still eluded Matthew Stafford for three of his four seasons with the Rams, but here are where the four (yes, four) NFC Pro Bowl quarterback were a year ago:
Daniels was playing at LSU. Daniels had a special rookie season, but would he have made the Pro Bowl if he was drafted by the Patriots? (Well, maybe. We’ll get...
Sam Darnold likely to part from Vikings but had an objectively better season than Matthew Stafford
Sam Darnold and Matthew Stafford finished the 2024 season with very similar production profiles. Both head into the offseason with uncertain futures. It’s likely that Darnold is out in Minnesota; therefore, the Los Angeles Rams should also carefully evaluate Stafford’s future with the team.
If Sam Darnold isn’t good enough for the Minnesota Vikings, then Stafford isn’t good enough for Sean McVay and the Rams.
Darnold: Surprised the NFL by maintaining stellar production until Week 18 versus the Detroit Lions and in the wildcard...
Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 1/28/24
The Los Angeles Rams didn’t make the NFC Championship game, and so this post is futile and I’ll admit semi-whiny, but also, I do think the Rams would’ve beaten the Washington Commanders had they played them in the NFC Championship game.
Instead, the Rams lost to the Philadelphia Eagles and the rest is and will be history. L.A. took the Eagles down to the wire, and I just can’t help but think that on their best day they could’ve won that game (it wasn’t their best day) and then they could’ve handled...
You survived the Patriots’ dynasty so this too shall pass
Fans of the Los Angeles Rams and most everyone else had a tough time watching the Chiefs return to yet another Super Bowl on Sunday. Kansas City will play the Eagles in a rematch of the big game from just two seasons ago. NFL fans have no doubt been completely rational since last night’s AFC Championship went final:
“Eagles and Chiefs again?! I’m gonna boycott the Super Bowl!”
No, you won’t. You’ll be drowning your sorrows with fried foods like the rest of us.
“That’s it, I’m done watching football!”...
Rams GM says Jaguars have “the best mascot” in the NFL
The Jacksonville Jaguars’ decision to hire Liam Coen — and the strange way it all went down — was heavily tied back to the Los Angeles Rams. It makes sense then that the Jaguars highlighted a conversation between Coen, Rams GM Les Snead, and Coen’s agent Jacques McClendon on Monday.
McClendon worked for Snead as the Director of Player Development on the Rams and made sure to get him on a FaceTime with Coen on Monday:
“From night phone calls to this, brother,” said McClendon to his former boss....
The Bucs could replace Liam Coen with Nate Scheelhaase
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost former Rams OC Liam Coen to the Jaguars last week and they are going right back to the same source for his replacement: The Bucs completed a second interview with Nate Scheelhaase on Monday, the current Rams offensive assistant/pass game specialist.
Scheelhaase would be a quick study under McVay though, as he only arrived in 2024 after spending the previous six years at Iowa State.
The Bucs are also considering Chargers pass game coordinator Marcus Brady and 28-year-old Kevin O’Connell assistant Grant Udinski for their open...
Brian Schottenheimer’s long strange journey as an offensive coordinator
When the Rams hired Jeff Fisher to replace Steve Spagnuolo in 2011, Fisher’s first choice as offensive coordinator was Brian Schottenheimer. Given which of those coaches mentioned has won Super Bowls recently, who would have guessed that it is Schottenheimer getting the job as the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys?
Son of Marty, the younger Schottenheimer got his first job as an assistant for Dick Vermeil’s Rams and has spent 14 NFL seasons as an offensive coordinator and never been known so much as a finalist for a head...
The Rams won’t be well represented in the Super Bowl
From the looks of it, the Super Bowl won’t feature any players who used to play for the Rams when the Chiefs take on the Eagles in two weeks. Perhaps the only player who could come close is Kansas City backup quarterback Carson Wentz, who was only on the Rams briefly in 2023, and he most likely won’t get any action against the team that he won the Super Bowl with (on IR) in 2017.
The next closest would be safety Jason Taylor, but he’s merely on a futures contract...

What I and many think is the best Sunday in football has come and gone. The football season is played week to week, as opposed to other sports like baseball where a team performs basically every day or every other day, so by nature of the schedule, the NFL season flies by in ways that other sports don’t.
There is one game left now, and that’s the Super Bowl. Another season of football has flown by, and the Los Angeles Rams hung around to the divisional round. They did good. The [Philadelphia...
Eagles-Commanders, Chiefs-Bills
Two teams are advancing to the Super Bowl on Sunday:
The Bills play the Chiefs in the evening game, while the Commanders take on the Eagles in the midday NFC Championship.
Talk about what happens with your fellow Rams fans in the comments below.
Mike Florio wants you to read PFT, so he’ll throw anything at the wall
If Les Snead gets a team to agree to trade for Cooper Kupp’s $20 million owed this year, it will be the highlight of his career as Rams general manager. But ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio isn’t concerned with realism if it allows him to write the headline, “Rams kick door open to potential Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp trades”.
Don’t worry, I read it so you don’t have to.
As to the possibility of trading Kupp or re-doing his deal, it was this: “[W]e hadn’t talked to...
Draft season is upon us!
Now that the Los Angeles Rams have been ousted from the NFL playoffs, the work begins to build out the roster for next season. While the coaching staff situation appears to be in flux, L.A. recently added a handful of Reserve/Future contract players to the roster and now, sets to work on the NFL Draft, scheduled for April 24, 25, and 26.
Here’s how my opening draft board lays out. It is up to date on player declarations, but not a final work. Although I don’t expect any real big jumps up the board, future...
