The Panthers continue a seasons long trend of jettisoning talent for little return
The Carolina Panthers are trading wide receiver Diontae Johnson to the Baltimore Ravens. The writing was on the wall for Johnson, who was performing well on a bad team in a contract year, when he was a relatively healthy scratch over the last few weeks after rehabbing a rib injury sustained some weeks prior.
The Ravens are sending their 2025 fifth round draft pick to the Panthers in exchange for Johnson and a 2025 5th round draft pick. The Panthers originally acquired Johnson in a trade with...
Even in another loss, a few young players on the Panthers roster stand out
The Carolina Panthers are now on a 5 game losing streak after a another lackluster overall performance versus the Denver Broncos. Panthers started off stronger than anyone expected, forcing a fumble on the Broncos opening offensive drive and turning that right around into the teams first touchdown off a turnover this season.
Unfortunately, the Panthers started the second quarter with a 7 point lead and exited down by 14. From that point forward, the game felt out of hand no matter what the scoreboard may have...
Another week’s edition of our CSR mailbag!
Hello Panthers fans! Welcome to Brian Asks, a CSR fan mailbag for everyone! The Panthers are coming off another crushing loss this week against the Denver Broncos, and all is not great and fun in Panthers land. However, one positive we can glean from this week; the Panthers rookie wide receivers are COOKING! 1st round pick Xavier Legette had himself a touchdown this week, and undrafted free agent rookie Jalen Coker led the team in receiving. So, as your resident 5th and 6th wide receiver Stan, I felt the appropriate topic of the...
Welcome to Monday Night Football
ESPN’s Monday Night Football is back with the Pittsburgh Steelers hosting the New York Giants at 8:15 ET on ESPN. This is liking a game between two ships passing in very different nights as the 2-5 Giants are floundering while the 5-2 Steelers are suddenly deep at quarterback.
As always in our brave new world of expansive sports gambling, it is now easier to bet on games than to watch them. You can catch current odds on all NFL games here on FanDuel.
The truth of the matter is that Giants may be watching their...
The Panthers lost to the Broncos 28-14 in Week 8 dropping them to 1-7. Check out their complete schedule and results for the 2024 season. All times are Eastern Time.
The Carolina Panthers are 1-7 through Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season. They sit in last place in the NFC South after losing to the Denver Broncos 28-14 this past week.
One player stood out as a small glimmer of hope in another week of darkness.
The Carolina Panthers were steamrolled by an actual NFL team on Sunday, as the weekly traditions states will happen. In what has become a rather familiar script, Dave Canales’ offense got off to a strong start and gave the Panthers an early lead, but they quickly went off the rails and stopped moving the ball. They only lost by two touchdowns, but that was almost a favor from the Broncos. After letting Bo Nix loose in the first half, the Broncos dialed back the passing...
Here’s this week’s open thread.
Greetings, internet users. Welcome to The Scratching Post.
Feel free to use this thread to chat about (almost) anything you want: video games, food, movies, non-football sports, you name it. As long as it’s allowed by the site’s ToS, it’s fair game here.
You know the drill.
This is now an open thread!
Check out what the oddsmakers think about the Panthers this week
The 1-7 Carolina Panthers are running back their Week 1 humiliation with a rematch against the New Orleans Saints. That means you can once again risk it all on your favorite team—or, as should be more likely, bet against them.
There isn't much point to expecting anything from the Panthers anymore and it seems like the folks at FanDuel agree. Take a look:
Saints: -7
Panthers: +7
45.5
Saints: -375
Panthers: +300
Remember that home-field advantage is traditionally accounted for...
The Carolina Panthers lost by three scores, but that is somehow still probably a flattering score line.
The Bryce Young led Carolina Panthers went cold after a first drive touchdown and lost in convincing fashion to the Denver Broncos, 28-14.
It’s a long one. Buckle up.
The Broncos received the opening kickoff, but they didn’t keep it for long. Shy Tuttle worked down the field after a short completion to Lil’Jordan Humphrey, punched the ball out, and fell on it to give the Panthers possession. Some short passes and good runs by both backs worked the Panthers...
Oh look, it’s an opponent that nobody wants to see for reasons entirely separate from today’s game.
The Carolina Panthers are expected to lose to the Denver Broncos today. The question in front of Panthers fans is a simple one, who is it harder to see have success: the Broncos or their new head coach, Sean Payton?
The Panthers losing is old hat at this point, but either of those entities winning is certainly more than many of us want to spend our Sunday afternoon watching.
As always, use this space to talk about the action as it unfolds.

A division rivalry matchup headlines an otherwise uninspiring slate of early games
The Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints headline a short list of early games this Sunday. Their NFC South rivalry is set to provide the most fireworks between teams playing even semi-competent football. Fortunately, this is likely the game that many of you in the Carolinas will find on Fox today.
The Panthers are playing a rare afternoon game thanks to their visit to the Denver Broncos and the Mountain Time Zone.
As always, use this space to talk about the action as it unfolds.

I'm really not sure what we expected.
Fan confidence is nearing a season low after a bad loss to the Washington Commanders and the (hopefully short term) injury that has sidelined quarterback Andy Dalton as we enter the halfway point of the Carolina Panthers seventh consecutive lost season. What a joy it is to follow this franchise.
Fan confidence in the latest new regime was high, holding at 79%, before the start of the 2024 season. Then it dropped to 17% after seeing former first overall pick quarterback Bryce Young play against the New Orleans Saints and the [Los Angeles...
