Good morning Gang Green Nation! Geno Smith is in the news again, and not in a good way. Smith was issued citations for speeding and driving without a license in Florida. These are hardly earth shattering offenses, but they represent the third time in the last few months Smith has had a run-in with the police. He’s not exhibiting the greatest judgment in the world. Hopefully with training camp starting in two weeks Smith can get back to football, and we can read about him more for his exploits on the field and less for his foibles off the field....

One year into his career, Arian Smith’s roster spot with the Jets doesn’t seem like a lock

One year into his career, Arian Smith’s roster spot with the Jets doesn’t seem like a lock

Through the summer, we will be counting down the Jets roster player by player. We continue the series by discussing Arian Smith.

Name: Arian Smith

Number: 82

Year With Jets: 2nd

Projected Role: Depth wide receiver and special teams coverage player

His 2025: The Jets selected Smith with a high fourth round pick in the NFL Draft. I personally was shocked by the selection. There wasn’t much obvious to suggest that Smith should have been anything higher than a priority undrafted free agent. He didn’t have much production in college. He was undersized, and his game was unrefined. Other than...

Scouting Jets UDFA running back Chip Trayanum

Scouting Jets UDFA running back Chip Trayanum

Over the last few months, we’ve been breaking down all undrafted free agents signed by the Jets. We continue today with former Toledo running back Chip Trayanum.

The 24-year old Trayanum is listed at 5’10” and 224 pounds and spent time at Arizona State, Ohio State and Kentucky before breaking out with a thousand-yard season at Toledo last year, which earned him first team all-MAC recognition.

Background

Trayanam was a four-star high school recruit who began his collegiate career at Arizona State. He was productive as a true freshman as he racked up 290 yards and four touchdowns in four...

Jets fans expect a big bounceback season from Geno Smith

Jets fans expect a big bounceback season from Geno Smith

The Jets did not need to pay much to reacquire quarterback Geno Smith in the offseason. Smith returned to New York in a trade involving a late round pick swap. The Jets also gave Geno a small salary bump.

The hope is that the veteran quarterback can provide some stability at the most important position on the field.

Last week we asked Jets fans how well they expect Smith to do in his second stint with the team. It’s clear that expectations are not low.

A majority of fans who voted in our survey expect Geno Smith to rank somewhere...

Training camp is just a couple of weeks away so there aren’t many developments to talk about, but anticipation is rising. Soon we will have Jets football.

Until then, enjoy your daily links.

New York Jets News: Can Demario Davis turn the linebacker position around?

New York Jets News: Can Demario Davis turn the linebacker position around?

Happy Saturday, Jets fans!

We are a few weeks from the start of Jets training camp. This is a quiet part of the calendar, but it’s also full of anticipation. One of the key players for the team this year will be Demario Davis. The veteran linebacker is starting his third stint in a Jets uniform.

A year ago linebacker was a weakness for the Jets as Jamien Sherwood and Quincy Williams regressed. The Jets will count on Davis to stabilize things. How confident are you that the 37 year old has another good year left in him?

The Jets will count on Omar Cooper to finally get Garrett Wilson some help

Through the summer, we will be counting down the Jets roster player by player. We continue the series by discussing Omar Cooper.

Name: Omar Cooper

Number: 83

Year With Jets: 1st

Projected Role: Starting wide receiver

His 2025: Cooper came from off the radar to play himself into first round discussion with a 69 catch, 937 yard, 13 touchdown season for the National Champion Indiana Hoosiers.

In the lead up to the NFL Draft, there was a lot of buzz about the Jets being very interested in Cooper. The team eventually traded up from an early second round pick to...

Malik McClain wants to show Jets coaches he deserves a shot

Through the summer, we will be counting down the Jets roster player by player. We continue the series by discussing Malik McClain.

Name: Malik McClain

Number: 84

Year With Jets: 1st

Projected Role: Practice squad candidate

His 2025: McClain posted a career high 31 catches for 441 yards for Arizona State in his final collegiate season. He went undrafted and was signed by the Jets as part of the 90 man training camp roster.

2026 will be a success if: McClain can show enough in camp and the exhibition season to earn a practice squad spot.

The Jets want Mason Taylor to make two tight end sets a weapon

The Jets want Mason Taylor to make two tight end sets a weapon

Through the summer, we will be counting down the Jets roster player by player. We continue the series by discussing Mason Taylor.

Name: Mason Taylor

Number: 85

Year With Jets: 2nd

Projected Role: Number two tight end

His 2025: The Jets picked Taylor in the second round out of the 2025 NFL Draft out of LSU. At the point the team picked him, it felt like his game needed some refinement. On a normal team, Taylor likely would have seen a limited snap count and focused on using practice reps to develop. With the Jets lacking quality at tight end,...
