The James Gladstone era in Jacksonville began with a bang on Tuesday, the new Jaguars’ GM agreeing deals with nine free agents. Considering the raft of releases and trades in the days prior, the roster already looks significantly different to the one that finished 4-13 last season. The Jacksonville Jaguars were the most active team on the first day of 2025 NFL Free Agency.
During the “negotiation period” of NFL Free Agency, teams may agree to contract terms with free agents, though the deals won’t become official until the new league year begins on Wednesday.
The Jaguars — led by a new “football leadership unit” of head coach Liam Coen, general manager James Gladstone, and executive VP of football operations Tony Boselli — agreed to terms with nine free agents on Monday.

In a flury of moves heading into the opening of free agency, the Jacksonville Jaguars will reportedly release Pro Bowl tight end Evan Engram, per ESPN's Michael DiDocco.

On Wednesday, it was reported that the Jacksonville Jaguars were planning on releasing wide receiver Christian Kirk ahead of next week’s start to free agency. Instead, the team is acquiring some extra draft capital en route to sending him to the Houston Texans. Per NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Jaguars are receiving a 2026 seventh-round pick in exchange for Kirk.
In turn, the Texans will take on Kirk’s 2025 salary which will pay him $16.5 million for the upcoming season which will be the final year...
