The New York Giants are activating running back Eric Gray from the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List and adding him to their 53-man roster for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. Gray has missed the entire season due to a knee injury.
The Giants have been operating without a third running back on the roster since Cam Skattebo was lost for the season with a dislocated ankle.
Gray was a fifth-round pick by the Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft.

There is part of me that is bummed Jaxson Dart is not playing on Sunday. He is the Giants’ best quarterback, and as much fun as Winston he is not as good as Dart. He also is not the team’s future.
There is, though, a bigger part of me that is thrilled that the NFL’s concussion protocol is working and that Dart won’t be on the field taking hits until he is 100% ready to do so.

Jameis Winston did not expect to be getting the call to start at quarterback for the New York Giants this Sunday against the Detroit Lions, which he will now that Jaxson Dart has been ruled out with a concussion.
Like most everyone else, Winston figured that Dart would clear the league’s concussion protocol after the rookie took the majority of first-team reps in practice throughout the week.

The New York Giants are 2-8, and they might become the first NFL team eliminated from playoff contention. It’s been — yet another — disaster of a year for Big Blue. However, their two first-round picks, quarterback Jaxson Dart and edge defender Abdul Carter, have flashed throughout the season. New York Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka announced Friday morning that rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart is still in the NFL concussion protocol and is out for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.
Dart suffered his concussion Week 10 against the Chicago Bears and missed last week’s 27-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Jameis Winston started at quarterback for the Giants, and will do so again on Sunday.

Mike Kafka got a ringing endorsement from New York Giants’ coordinators this week for the team’s full-time head-coaching position. That, though, is not going to move the needle as Kafka’s interim head coach audition for the real job continues over the next six games.
Victories, demonstrating the ability to guide the growth of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, marked improvement from the team’s woeful defense, and signs that players being held accountable and buying what Kafka is selling will.
