It was a surprise to some that first-year New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh wanted to tinker with the roster rather than engage in a wholesale rebuild.
And for the most part, the roster was not overhauled this year. There was, perhaps, more churn than usual for an NFL team, but that’s to be expected with a new coach. But there were a few positions where there was a major change.
The linebacker position is the obvious exception to that statement, as pointed out by ESPN’s Jordan Raanan in ESPN’s poll of the NFC beat writers.

The New York Giants are getting ready for training camp, along with the rest of the NFC East. This is the second offensive position group in the NFC East Grading series. After the first offensive grading – tight ends – the Eagles had 17 points, with the Giants having 16, Dallas having 14, and Washington earning 13 points.

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen won’t be going anywhere for a while yet.

As Ed discussed earlier in the week, it’s no surprise that Jaxson Dart was his choice as the most important Giant entering the 2026 season. In that post Ed referenced a film study by Nick Baumgardner of The Athletic about Dart’s pros and cons.
