Underrated Eagles Defender Is Poised For ‘Big Payday’

The Philadelphia Eagles have done it again. General manager Howie Roseman rolled the dice on a player who ended up outplaying his contract and looks like a legitimate star.

Trusting Moro Ojomo as one of the team’s top defensive tackles was a bit of a gamble. So far, it’s evident that it has paid off.

Ojomo has become one of the most important pieces for coordinator Vic Fangio, and NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo said the underrated defender is poised for a “big payday.”

“Moro Ojomo’s been really good for the Eagles. That’s how you offset the loss of...

Derrick Gunn Says There are a Lot of People in the Eagles Organization “Frustrated with the Quarterback Situation”

Derrick Gunn Says There are a Lot of People in the Eagles Organization “Frustrated with the Quarterback Situation”

Oh boy! This is from the Eagles postgame show featuring Derrick Gunn, Marc Farzetta, and Seth Joyner:

Now this is an interesting one because Derrick Gunn is one of the most respected voices ever in Philadelphia Eagles media. Before he was let go by NBC Sports Philly, he was the guy you would listen to when you wanted to know what was going on inside the locker room. If this was some sports radio talking head saying this, we could just chalk it up to bullshit trying to drive calls, but Gunner has never been one to peddle that kind...

Injuries, Regression, or Both, the Eagles’ Typically-Elite Offensive Line Hasn’t Been a Strength

Injuries, Regression, or Both, the Eagles’ Typically-Elite Offensive Line Hasn’t Been a Strength

The Eagles might be 8-2, but until the offense shows signs of improving, the fan mindset will stew on the negative from each game instead of the positive. I still don’t understand how this fan base (and sports in general) shifted from an “only wins matter” mindset to discourse focused more on how a team looks in a win or loss.

In some ways, when teams become elite enough, that shift is predictable. The Eagles made their fans spoiled, so the “a win is a win” mantra doesn’t work anymore. I’m not so sure I’m a fan of that mindset,...

Eagles Fans React to the Win Over the Lions

Eagles Fans React to the Win Over the Lions

You won’t be seeing it in this video, but there was a lot of optimism in the lots last night even though the offense once again looked like crap:

You know what shocked me the most in this video? It wasn’t the guy in the GMC Denali claiming he got 100 MPG. I can’t believe how many Lions fans were yapping postgame after scoring only nine points. Every Lions fan I talked to remembers the 0-16 season. You should be used to this. All of a sudden they string a couple seasons together and they puff their chests out a...

It’s a Lisfranc Injury for Lane Johnson

It’s a Lisfranc Injury for Lane Johnson

Not ideal:

Nakobe Dean and Furkan Korkmaz are the two names that come to mind for recent Lisfranc injuries in Philly sports. Lisfranc is when you either sprain, break, or dislocate the midfoot bones and ligaments, basically where your toes connect to the rest of the foot. If this is not a season-ending injury, then it’s probably a sprain, which would require non-weight bearing during the recovery period. Dean suffered a sprain in November two years ago, but his required surgery and he was out for the rest of that year.

Some of the insiders, like Rapoport and local guy...

The Lions Proved the Tush Push is Stoppable and Therefore Should Stay in the Game

The Lions Proved the Tush Push is Stoppable and Therefore Should Stay in the Game

Teams can’t claim the Tush Push is unstoppable anymore because the Detroit Lions stopped it five times in one game. FIVE TIMES IN ONE GAME! If anything came out of Sunday night’s game, it’s that the Eagles defense is generational and the Tush Push should remain in the game. The Lions were one of the few teams that voted “Yes” to keeping the play and they backed it up with legitimate efforts to stop it. This was impressive:

I noticed the Lions do something different than most teams. They send a guy around the edge to muddy up the scrum...

Eagles Offense: One Key Stat that Makes Me Want to Jump Off the Walt Whitman Bridge

Eagles Offense: One Key Stat that Makes Me Want to Jump Off the Walt Whitman Bridge

Did the bye week help the Eagles offense?

No. It did not.

In two games coming out of the break, Kevin Patullo’s unit mustered 10 points in Green Bay and 16 at home against Detroit. They won both because Vic Fangio’s defense played like a combination of the Legion of Boom and Steel Curtain.

There are a lot of directions in which to go with this. Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown weren’t in sync on Sunday night. A.J. was targeted a season-high 11 times but only logged 49 yards on seven receptions. Saquon Barkley ran for 86 yards but at...

The Eagles’ Defense Has Held the Cowboys, Chiefs, Rams, Bucs, Broncos, Packers, and Lions to 17.8 Points Per Game

The Eagles’ Defense Has Held the Cowboys, Chiefs, Rams, Bucs, Broncos, Packers, and Lions to 17.8 Points Per Game

They don’t ask how, they ask how many, and for the Eagles that’s eight wins and two losses despite the Birds offense not playing very well at all this season. It was another slog on Sunday night with Kevin Patullo’s unit putting up 16 points at home despite starting with great field position all game long.

What we saw from the Eagles defense, however, was 1985 Chicago Bears stuff. It was 2000 Baltimore Ravens stuff. They smushed Detroit over and over again, forcing five turnovers on downs and a 3-13 third down mark while conceding a grand total of nine...

This Could be One of the Worst Pass Interference Calls of All Time

This Could be One of the Worst Pass Interference Calls of All Time

This was, objectively speaking, an atrocious call:

From the department of “more than one thing can be true” –

1) We’d be going absolutely bonkers if they called this against the Eagles. It’s a horrific call no matter if it goes against the Eagles, the Lions, Temple, St. Joe’s Prep, or the Sun Valley Vanguards.

2) The refs were predictably terrible for both sides. The flag on Tyler Steen for the tush push “false start” was an abomination.

3) Lions fan ire must be directed inward. You can’t go 0-5 on fourth down and score nine points and lament the...

Jordan Davis Tied for the League Lead in Batted Balls

Jordan Davis Tied for the League Lead in Batted Balls

With three batted balls on Sunday Night Football, Jordan Davis moved into a tie for first place in the NFL. He entered the night in a nine-way tie for 10th place, and finished level with Cam Heyward, Zach Allen, and Maxx Crosby:

Jalen Carter had two batted balls on the evening as well, so that’s five total on the night and 10 on the season between Carter and Davis. Once the stats are processed and added into the database, the Eagles will officially have the second most batted balls in the NFL, behind only the Steelers.

Not only does Davis...

Glass Remains Half Full – 30 Immediate Observations from Eagles 16, Lions 9

Sometimes you have to take things at face value, and face value for the Philadelphia Eagles is two primetime games in seven days in which they’ve held the Green Bay Packers to seven points at Lambeau and the Detroit Lions to nine points at Lincoln Financial Field.

That’s the big story on Action News.

The Birds are 8-2, lead the NFC, and are playing lights out defensive football. Five times on Sunday night they stopped Detroit on downs, stuffing Jared Goff and company over and over and over again. Combine that with the Lions’ 3-13 mark on third down, and...

Why Is “A Win is a Win” Not Enough Anymore?

Why Is “A Win is a Win” Not Enough Anymore?

What happened to us?

For decades, sports fans have been sold “a win is a win.” It doesn’t matter how you grab the dub, just grab it and move on to tomorrow. Growing up watching Philly sports, that certainly applied to all of the teams as winning wasn’t happening that often. So, when it did, we cherished it.

Three championships later, it feels like the expectations have grown to a point where the style points are starting to matter more than the number in the left column. And it’s because us fans have that Philly fan complex consciousness telling us...
