The start of the 2025 NFL free agency period is here. The negotiating period - commonly called the “legal tampering period” - begins on Monday at 12 p.m. Eastern and continues through 3:59 p.m. on Wednesday. The new league year begins at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, opening the free agency signing period.

During the negotiating period, the league allows for a soft open to free agency, when teams are allowed to contact agents and begin negotiations for soon-to-be free agents. Contracts are not allowed to be executed during the two days....
