The Washington Commanders have a lot of primetime games this season, including one in the preseason! Tonight’s Monday Night Football game features Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals coming to Northwest Stadium to face Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders. This will be the first game the two former LSU QBs have played against each other in the NFL, but they are expected to only see a few series before letting the backups take over. Washington is expected to play their starters for two series, and that will be the only live reps they get before Week 1’s home game...

The Commanders play the first of two home preseason games tonight at 8 pm. Dan Quinn has confirmed that Jayden Daniels and most of the current starters will play for at least part of the first quarter, though he also gave a fairly long list of players would be out due to injury management.

It’s Week 2 of the preseason, and we’ve got two football games to watch today! Most of this week’s games were played yesterday, including all three of Washington’s NFC East opponents. The Commanders play on Monday Night Football tomorrow, hosting the Cincinnati Bengals. Today’s lineup starts at 1 p.m. with a matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints. The Sunday Night Football game features the Buffalo Bills visiting the Chicago Bears. Washington will host the Bears in Week 6 for their first MNF game of the season.

The Washington Commanders have activated wide receiver Terry Mclaurin off the Physically Unable to Perform list, marking the next step toward him being ready to return to the field.

The hope for Washington fans is that the participation of more starters this week will make for a more pleasurable viewing experience. The NFL has four 7 p.m. ET games, and a lone 9:30 p.m. game. Dan Quinn spoke to reporters after today’s practice. His usual pre-practice presser was pushed back, and the team announced that WR Terry McLaurin(ankle) has been activated from the Active/PUP list. McLaurin wasn’t at practice today, and he won’t play in the team’s Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Quinn said that he will ramp up as he returns to play, just like several other players that were ruled out have been. McLaurin is still seeking a new deal, but can now practice with the team when he is cleared for full participation.

Much has been made of the Commanders receiving options being below-average (especially with Mclaurin not practicing this summer), however that needs to be viewed in context of Kliff Kingsbury’s offense.
Is it more important to have players who fit the scheme, or to build your scheme around the players you have?
This is the million-dollar question – and although I don’t know if I’ll be able to draw a concrete conclusion here either way, it will hopefully prompt some good discussion.
