Replacing Kenny Moore is not as simple as finding the next cornerback on the roster.
Moore was one of the most unique players on the Colts’ defense for years. He could cover, blitz, tackle, communicate, and play with the kind of physicality you don’t always get from smaller defensive backs. The slot corner role is not just “third corner.” It is its own job, and Moore played it at a very high level for a long time.
Now the Colts have to figure out what comes next. There are a lot of names on the roster who could technically be...

The Indianapolis Colts announced the initial jersey numbers for their recent 2026 NFL Draft class, which is comprised of eight rookies this year:
While these of course, could be subject to change for the final active 53-man roster by the end of training camp and preseason, given additional roster fluctuation and cuts, above is the first glimpse of their jersey numbers (and obviously for some of the later Day 3 Colts’ picks, if they actually make the team and/or practice squad).
We’ll take a look at other former Colts who have infamously worn their respective initial jersey numbers:

Lightning in a bottle. That is what teammates call him. The best example comes from the Indianapolis Colts’ postseason push featured on Hard Knocks. Frank Reich called it out to announce that Kenny Moore II had been named to the Pro Bowl. His teammates went wild because that is the type of teammate Moore II is. His greatness didn’t stop on the field, however. He may have been a beloved teammate at West 56th Street, but he was an even better human away from it all.
Moore II was a three-time nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the...

Having not found a willing trade partner on a deal that made sense, the Indianapolis Colts made the very difficult football decision and announced that they had released longtime veteran cornerback Kenny Moore II.
Not unexpected, as Colts general manager Chris Ballard indicated a few weeks ago that if Indianapolis could not find a suitable trade for Moore II, who had requested a change of scenery, that the Horseshoe would ultimately perform the honorable move and release the 30-year-old, former 2021 NFL Pro Bower—doing right by the player.
During his prior 9-year career with the Colts, Moore II had consistently...

The Indianapolis Colts officially signed six members of their 2026 NFL Draft class and 12 undrafted free agents ahead of rookie minicamp.
The six draft picks who signed are linebacker CJ Allen, safety A.J. Haulcy, defensive end George Gumbs Jr., defensive end Caden Curry, running back Seth McGowan and wide receiver Deion Burks.
Two draft picks remain unsigned for now: fourth-round guard Jalen Farmer and fourth-round linebacker Bryce Boettcher. That isn’t necessarily a major concern at this stage, as rookie contracts are typically slotted and these signings often get finalized around rookie minicamp and offseason workouts.
Allen was selected in...

Indianapolis Colts veteran safety Cam Bynum is intrigued by the possibility of teaming up with rookie 3rd round safety A.J. Haulcy in the backend of Lou Anarumo’s freshly revamped defense (via The Athletic’s James Boyd):
The former First-Team All-SEC safety for the LSU Tigers initially projects as an immediate 1st-year starter for the Colts secondary, having recorded 88 tackles (49 solo), 0.5 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 4 passes defensed, and a forced fumble during 12 starts this past season.
While there was some early thought this offseason that returning safety Hunter Wohler, who missed all of his rookie season...

On Thursday afternoon, the Colts announced they released Kenny Moore II after being unable to find a trade partner for their longtime starting nickel corner following his pre-Draft trade request.
Other moves announced on Thursday was the release of recently unreturned Safety Nasir Adderley and waiving linebacker John Bullock.
Kenny Moore II was a fan favorite amongst Colts fans. His energy was considered electric in the locker room, giving him the moniker: “Lightning in a Bottle” during his 2021 Pro Bowl season. The Valdosta, Georgia native initially was signed by the New England Patriots in 2017 but didn’t make the...

The short story is that 177 (71.66%) votes were cast that wanted the Colts to win, even if it meant retaining Ballard and Steichen. That left 70 (28.34%) voters who would seemingly prefer our current leadership to be gone, no matter this year’s results. 247 votes were cast, so the sample size is likely healthy enough for the results to be consistent with the wishes of the fan base that frequents this site. Troy might be able to confirm or rebuke that statement.
There was also some spirited conversation among the 112 comments. Some were detailed and some offered just...

CJ Allen is the cleanest projection to start right away. The Colts’ linebacker room is thin, and Akeem Davis-Gaither is the only player with meaningful previous starting experience. Jaylon Carlies has not carved out a consistent role, and there isn’t another obvious player blocking Allen from taking a major role. Allen also fits what the Colts need: a young, athletic linebacker with real production at Georgia. He led Georgia in tackles in 2025 and finished his college career with 205 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 10 pass deflections. That combination of opportunity and profile makes him the safest...

Well, well, well. Anthony Richardson ended his two-week holdout and is back in the building with the Indianapolis Colts for voluntary offseason workouts. While labeling it a “holdout” is cheeky, Richardson wasn’t overly keen to rejoin the team, but with no trade in sight and money and potential playing time on the line, he decided to acquiesce. This may seem minor now, but it could add some serious intrigue to the Colts’ quarterback room in 2026.
All of this comes with the caveat that the Colts don’t find a trade partner in the meantime, but as it currently stands, Richardson...

An idea for a poll question emerged from a short conversation I had with Iowacoltsfan on a previous post. I suggested that I believed that the negativity towards Chris Ballard had reached a point that many fans would trade a good season, for a bad one that produced his ouster. He shared that he didn’t believe that the ire was that strong, but admitted he didn’t know what a poll would produce.
So, why not just ask? One question, two options.
Would you prefer a season that produced a division title and playoff win, but resulted in a new 3...

The situation hasn’t changed regarding the Indianapolis Colts endless quarterback carousel, but the optics have. Quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. walked back into the Colts’ facility Monday to participate in voluntary offseason workouts.
Despite a trade request that still hangs over the franchise, his presence during the install period signals he’s willing to put in the work this go-round. Richardson requested a trade from the Colts in late February after losing ground in a crowded quarterback room, but the market never materialized. League-wide interest remains minimal, which leaves Indianapolis with little leverage to find a willing suitor.
The Colts declined Richardson’s...
