While all eyes are on running backs J.K. Dobbins and rookie R.J. Harvey, the battle for the Broncos RB3 (and potentially RB4) jobs is heating up. Jaleel McLaughlin, Audric Estime, Blake Watson, and Tyler Badie are all competing for that job.
While McLaughlin and/or Estime seem like the favorites for that role, do not sleep on running back Tyler Badie as the dark horse in this competition.
9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis tweeted out during the Broncos’ joint practice vs. the 49ers on Thursday that Tyler Badie has a “real shot” at the Broncos’ number three running back role. He has...
Today, the Denver Broncos returned to the practice field, but this time, not in Denver, but in Santa Clara California to take part in a joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers. Two teams will have their preseason opener on Saturday night, but today, the two teams had one of their most important training camp practices of the summer. After practicing against itself for the first week and a half, the two-teams, for the first time this summer, were able to go up against someone else. This a good test to see where everyone is at, if players continue to...
Out of the two free agent offensive linemen that the Broncos went all-out for in 2023, Mike McGlinchey has been paying off the best for the team. He’s consistently one of the better run blockers on the line and keeps his quarterbacks clean in pass protection. He’s consistently above the league average at his position and is well within the top 10 best right tackles in the league.
One of the things I love about McGlinchey the most though has been his leadership and locker room presence. He’s a positive player who props up his teammates any time possible, always...
Last week I wrote about how points scored and allowed can be used to determine if an offense or a defense is elite (20% better than average). The same approach can be taken with yards per play (YPP).
The average play in the NFL last season gained 5.42 yards. The best YPP offense in the league was Baltimore. They gained 6.85 yards per play, or 26% better than average, this was the second best all-time. The best defense in the league, Philadelphia, allowed 4.74 YPP, which was 13% better than average.
I have defined elite as 10% better than average...
The real fun is about to begin as the Broncos will face off against the Niners in joint practices Thursday and Friday before their first preseason game on Saturday.
Don’t you worry, says the head coach, because the starters will definitely see the field.
“There’s this feeling that, ‘Oh, if I practice them a bunch, then I’m not going to play them in the game,’” Sean Payton mocked. “We’re playing guys in the game.”
And no matter what tweets you may have seen pointing out the various interceptions from Bo Nix earlier this week, Payton also doesn’t want you to...
Good morning, Broncos Country.
In a few days, the Denver Broncos will take on the San Francisco 49ers in their first preseason game. There are no big updates of note regarding the team this morning, as yesterday was a travel day with the Broncos enroute to the Bay Area for Saturday evening’s festivities. It’s been a long wait and offseason, but we are less than 72 hours away from Broncos’ football officially being back.
Coming off a 10-win campaign and their first playoff berth in ages, renewed optimism has spread across Broncos Country to a significant degree. The energy, passion,...
Late last month, wide receiver Courtland Sutton and the Denver Broncos came to terms on a four-year contract extension worth up to $92 million with a disclosed $41 million in total guarantees. It took a little while for the precise detail and structure to be given, but Spotrac recently updated their website with the precise information to reflect the true value of Sutton’s new deal.
He was given an $18.5 million signing bonus this season that will be spread throughout the length of his extension for cap purposes. His cap hit this season will be $13.9 million. The $40 million...
The Denver Broncos released their unofficial depth chart for the preseason earlier today, ahead of their preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers this Saturday. This gives us our first unofficial look at the Broncos’ depth chart as they head into the preseason. Now, we need to keep in mind that this depth chart does not mean much in the grand scheme of things. Sean Payton downplayed his involvement in it last season, and it is only being announced because they have to do one.
Like last year when Bo Nix was listed as the third-string quarterback, all rookies are...
The USA Today did their annual win/loss prediction of all 272 games and the hype for the 2025 Denver Broncos continues to shine through from the national media. That is either going to be good or bed, check back in on New Years Day to find out!
With the third seed in the AFC, the Broncos also take the AFC West crown from the Kansas City Chiefs here. Why did Nate Davis of USA Today end up here? The trenches. He doesn’t think any team out there is as dominant on the offensive line and on the defensive side as...
Excitement and optimism are flourishing across Broncos Country as the Denver Broncos enter their third season of the Sean Payton era.
There is no shortage of reasons for such enthusiasm. Rightfully so, fans across Broncos Country should feel good about the season ahead after years of dread and despair. First and foremost, continuity with the coaching staff and playbook. Second, the Broncos are bringing back a much-improved defense that only got better with their offseason additions. Third, they added a half dozen playmakers between the running back, wide receiver, and tight end positions on offense which should help their overall...
As the Denver Broncos inch toward their first preseason game, a lot of questions surround the team with respect to who is rising and falling down the depth chart. A lot of key positions are set in stone, but dozens of players are vying for a larger opportunity with the team in 2025.
However, one of those positions with little variability is the offensive line. Every starter is set to be back in their role for the upcoming season. Last year’s unit was one of the best in the National Football League. They were top-notch when it came to [pass...
The Denver Broncos will take the field this Saturday to take on the San Francisco 49ers and we have confirmation of sorts that we’ll see some of the starting unit play on both sides of the ball in that game. The hype is pretty strong this offseason. Hopefully the hype translates into reality.
One player we might want to pay close attention to is rookie punter, Jeremy Crawshaw. Everyone hates on a draft pick being “wasted” on a punter, even near the end of the draft. However, Crawshaw has been booming some punts out there in training camp. Sometimes the...
