The latest Bears Banter Podcast is here!
The Bears won a wild game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and we talk about all of it with the great Patrick Mannelly!
There were plenty of great topics discussed, including the rollercoaster on Sunday, Caleb Williams’ performance, the culture Ben Johnson is building, and much more. We also received Patrick’s expert analysis on the special teams, and he has plenty of criticisms for how the unit performed on Sunday and throughout most of this season.
But Patrick had some really great commentary on the offensive line and how well they are playing.
“There’s...

Boy does it feel good to get back to winning football. Even if, for a moment, it looked like we were about to lose in the most spectacular way possible.
But we’re not here to apologize for winning! Fueled by a late 58-yard strike from Caleb Williams to rookie tight end Colston Loveland, the Chicago Bears stunned the Cincinnati Bengals 47–42 at Paycor Stadium. And they did it just seconds after nearly blowing the whole thing, giving up 15 points in 49 seconds in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.
The Bears offense absolutely exploded: 6 touchdowns, 576 total...

Just two sacks allowed by the Chicago Bears against the Cincinnati Bengals, and with the way this year is going, that’s a lot to break down!
In 2024, Caleb Williams took a record number of sacks, but he also avoided a ton. One analytic site charted him as personally avoiding around 50. His athleticism led to a high time-to-throw (TTT) as a rookie, and while many of those long-developing plays were due to his insane escapability, others were due to him just holding the ball too long, not seeing things clearly, or trying to find the big play downfield.

Chicago’s dynamic rookie duo made history on Sunday in the Chicago Bears’ 47- 42 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and earlier today, each received some well-deserved hardware for their performances.
Tight end Colston Loveland was selected as the NFC Offensive Player of the Week after his career-high six receptions, 118 yards, and two touchdowns, including the 58-yard, game-winning touchdown with just 17 seconds left in the game. This was the third-longest game-winning touchdown catch by any rookie in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter or in overtime since 1970.

As the Chicago Bears prepare for the ninth game of the season against the New York Giants on Sunday, we are starting to get the first official team injury reports for week 10.
Once again, the Bears had a sizable list of players who were listed as DNP (did not practice) on the first report of the week. This includes: DB Josh Blackwell (concussion), DB Kevin Byard III (back/ankle), LB TJ Edwards (hand/hamstring), DL Grady Jarrett (rest), WR DJ Moore (hip/groin), WR Rome Odunze (ankle/heel), and DL Dominique Robinson (ankle).
Listed as limited in practice were RB Roschon Johnson (back),...

Welcome back to STEP Differential. STEP stands for Sack + Turnover(x2) + Explosive Play Differential. As I have said many times, there are no perfect statistics, so please don’t mistake this for trying to be that. However, I think it provides an incredibly interesting view into overall team health and tells an interesting story as we navigate another NFL season. Since we’re fully halfway through the regular season schedule, I’m switching over the the other graph sets where I show each individual component mapped on a 2×2 square. You can find those on pages 2-4 of the Infogram below:

The NFL script writers outdid themselves on Sunday with that Caleb Williams to Colston Loveland go-ahead touchdown. The game was exciting from start to finish, with the lead changes, the fourth quarter comebacks, the Madden-like offensive stats, and that final moment was magical.
That Chicago Bears vs Cincinnati Bengals game will be remembered fondly throughout Bears’ history, and now you can commemorate that incredible play forever.
Our friends at BreakingT quickly put together this outstanding Xs & Os play design showing Chicago’s spacing and concept with Loveland running upfield between three defenders. You can get your adult t-shirt or hoodie...
