The NFL has announced the Week 18 schedule, and as they do each year, they strategically space the games out to create as much drama as possible.
With the Chicago Bears losing to the San Francisco 49ers, the number one seed is off the table, but the Bears can still lock up the two seed with a win over the Detroit Lions at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday.
The current three seed, the Philadelphia Eagles, play at the same time as the Bears, and a Bears loss plus a Philly win would give the Eagles the three seed.

Would it be a 2025 Bears game if you weren’t nervous down to the very last snap of the game?
Despite Chicago having clinched the NFC North and a playoff spot heading into their Sunday night game against the 49ers, there was still plenty of suspense in such a tight game. It came down to a fourth-down opportunity at the four-yard line, but in the end, Chicago fell just short 42-38 to San Francisco.
The defense was lackluster, but the offense kept them competitive in the game down to the very last play. However, the magic ran out with an...

Sunday Night Football pits two 11-win teams going at it as the Chicago Bears face the San Francisco 49ers in a game where the loser is eliminated from contention for the number one seed in the NFC.
An illness wormed its way through Halas Hall this week, which added several Bears to the injury report, but DJ Moore and Darnell Wright will be active for the game. Full gameday inactive lists here.
This will be your open thread to talk about the game all night long, and keep in mind that all our open threads are rated WCG-MA.

With the slate of Christmas, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon games over, there has been some clarity around the NFC standings. The Sunday night matchup between the Chicago Bears and the San Francisco 49ers is looming, and the Los Angeles Rams play tomorrow night, but here’s where things are now.
By virtue of the Detroit Lions’ flailing about for four quarters and losing to the Max Brosmer and the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, the Green Bay Packers have clinched a playoff berth.
But with the Packers getting smacked around by Derrick Henry and the Baltimore Ravens, the Bears have clinched the...

Hello, Chicago Bears fans! After the Lions’ loss to the Vikings and the Packers’ loss to the Ravens, the Chicago Bears are officially Kings of the North! With the division in hand, the Bears will face off against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday with playoff seeding in the balance. It is still possible for the Bears to claim the #1 overall seed, but only if they secure a victory against Brock Purdy and his West Coast attack tonight.
Here is what our WCG contributors think will happen:
GOOCH: 31-30, Bears. This is a tough matchup for the Bears’ defense,...

It wasn’t just what Ryan Poles said in his opening presser as Chicago Bears general manager, but the moment immediately following his last word that stuck with me: “We’re going to take the North and never give it back,” he said, followed by a flipping of the page as he continued his remarks.
In reality, it was likely a complete coincidence. But maybe not. Perhaps it was written that way intentionally for maximum effect. “We’re doing this, and that’s final. Period. End of paragraph. End of page.” As if the act of reclaiming the North for the foreseeable future and...

Sitting with an 11-4 record heading into Week 17, the Bears have had the greatest turnaround in the NFC and one of the greatest in the NFL compared to last season. It’s no surprise, then, that members of their coaching staff could be high in demand for promotions when the year ends.
In a Saturday article, CBS Sports insider Jonathan Jones indicated that the Bears have multiple coaches who could generate looks for coordinator jobs at the end of the regular season. The coaches who were listed in the article as notable coordinator candidates on either side of the ball...

For the first time in seven years, the Chicago Bears are the NFC North champions.
The Bears clinched first place in the division after the Packers’ 41-24 loss to the Ravens on Saturday night. Heading into their Week 17 matchup against the 49ers, Chicago has a 2.5-game lead for first place in the NFC North. The deficit is now mathematically impossible for Green Bay to make up, granting the Bears their first divisional crown since 2018.
It’s been an impressive campaign for Ben Johnson’s team in his first season as the Bears’ head coach. Having gone 5-12 only a year...

Two very good football teams meet up on Sunday Night Football as the (11-4) Chicago Bears travel West to play the (11-4) San Francisco 49ers. Last season, these two teams combined for 11 wins and were each last in their respective divisions.
The Bears are looking for their third straight win, while the ‘Niners are looking for their sixth consecutive victory. Both teams have already clinched a postseason spot, and the winner also stays alive for the NFC’s top seed, no matter what transpires in the other weekend games.
Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday at 7:20...

Whatever bug has been making its way through Halas Hall has claimed another victim.
On Saturday, the Chicago Bears added starting right tackle Darnell Wright to the injury report as questionable with an illness. The team announced he wasn’t flying with his teammates today for their Sunday Night Football matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
I’d imagine they are hoping his symptoms subside and he could make the 5-hour flight to the Bay Area on Sunday morning for the 7:20 p.m. (CT) kickoff, but this seems unlikely.
If Wright can’t go, look for Theo Benedet to find his way back...

Note 1: I apologize for how late this is releasing, with the holiday and losing about 2 days of the week to travel I have not had much free time during the week to do this, we will be back to a regular schedule next week!
Note 2: Much like week 12, Play reviews for this week will not be done, due to the aforementioned traveling for the holidays, I don’t have access to the tools I need to record and overlay information on those recordings. So this weeks recap will be abridged. Play review will be back next week!...
