Bears vs Giants Injury Report: Chicago’s T.J. Edwards had hand surgery, New York has 6 out

The final game-day injury reports have been released by the Chicago Bears and the New York Giants ahead of their game this Sunday, and the Bears will be without linebacker T.J. Edwards (hand/hamstring), cornerback Josh Blackwell (concussion), and defensive end Dominique Robinson (ankle).

Head coach Ben Johnson said that Edwards had surgery on a fracture in his hand, but he’s not expected to go on injured reserve. He added that T.J.’s hamstring issue is related to the injury from earlier this season.

Running back D’Andre Swift, who was held out last week with a groin issue, is listed as questionable....

Bears Big Plays Tracker Week 9

Bears Big Plays Tracker Week 9

Modern football is all about big plays and as a companion piece to the STEP Differential, I’m tracking the Bears big plays all year in this Infogram:

Last year’s tracker is on the second page. Remember that you can click into the tabs on the lower left to see the tally by player and you can hover over any of the shapes on the right hand side of the visual to see a description of each play. Like last year, I’ll color code the plays on the right with the team color of the opponent. New this year I’ve added...

Five Questions with Big Blue View: Can Bears offense repeat their performance?

Five Questions with Big Blue View: Can Bears offense repeat their performance?

The Chicago Bears are coming off winning one of the wildest NFL games of the year last Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. The win brought their record to 5-3, and they have a chance to push their record to 6-3, which would be the first time the Bears are 3 games over .500 since 2020, when they started 5-1.

To get you set for this Sunday’s match-up against the New York Giants, we sat down with Ed Valentine from Big Blue View (SB Nation’s NY Giants site) to get you the Giants’ side of things. Here’s that Q&A.

Could this EDGE prospect help the Chicago Bears solve their pass-rush problem?

Could this EDGE prospect help the Chicago Bears solve their pass-rush problem?

As fun as it would’ve been to see the Bears make a major move in the pass-rush department at the trade deadline, their instinct to take a seven-round-pick flyer on former No. 32 overall pick Joe Tryon-Shoyinka was the wise thing to do. Chicago is (hopefully) at the beginning of its ascent into a contender, and mortgaging significant assets on any one player isn’t the play now.

The best NFL teams build through the draft and hit on premium positions that way rather than paying big money or trading for them (or both). And a few recent mock drafts suggest...

Chicago Bears Roster Moves: Amen Ogbongbemiga activated

Chicago Bears Roster Moves: Amen Ogbongbemiga activated

Earlier today, the Chicago Bears announced that linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga was activated from injured reserve, while waiving linebacker Carl Jones Jr. in a corresponding move.

Ogbongbemiga has yet to play in a game this year after being placed on IR before the season started with a knee injury. In 2024, his first in Chicago, he played in all 17 games, recording 11 special teams tackles, tying for the team lead.

I’m not saying Chicago’s third phase needs Amen, but through eight games, their punt coverage is allowing 11 yards per return (14th most), and their kickoff coverage has allowed 29...

Chicago Bears Thursday Injury Report: 3 players return to practice

Chicago Bears Thursday Injury Report: 3 players return to practice

The Chicago Bears got some encouraging news in Thursday’s official injury report, as several players who had been listed as DNP (Did Not Practice) made it back to practice, and most of the players listed as limited on Wednesday were given the “Full” designation for Thursday. The most significant player trending towards “doubtful” or “out” is TJ Edwards, who missed his second practice with a hand and hamstring injury. Josh Blackwell and Dominque Robinson also have missed two practices in a row due to injury.

On the sunny side of the injury report, both of the Chicago Bears who had...

Did Kyle Monangai’s monster game change the Chicago Bears’ RB pecking order?

Did Kyle Monangai’s monster game change the Chicago Bears’ RB pecking order?

One good game against the Cincinnati Bengals’ defense isn’t enough to crown anyone the best player in the league. Then again, what does it say that the player with the most rushing yards against the hapless 2025 Bengals is none other than Chicago Bears rookie Kyle Monangai?

The seventh-round pick out of Rutgers blasted through, slalomed around, and ran by (in that order) Cindy’s defense last Sunday to the tune of 176 yards, the most by a Bears rookie rusher since Anthony Thomas in 2001. Not to mention, that was his first career start, which came in relief of injured...

Week 10 game preview: Bears vs. Giants

Week 10 game preview: Bears vs. Giants

The Chicago Bears are looking to keep their winning ways going by taking on a New York Giants squad trying to find their way.

In some ways, this Giants squad is reminiscent of recent Bears teams. They’ve been stuck in the mud with a coach that it seems like the fanbase is turning on, but they have a young quarterback playing well to be excited about. But in any case, the wins aren’t coming.

And like the Bears of this year, the Giants are plagued by injuries. Two of their most exciting offensive weapons are out for the year in...
